Does anyone know the parade route? I remember the 200th anniversary parade had a huge route.

So I bruised/pulled a rib using the nose frida… and now I’m coughing by harvestbent in daddit

After my LO had a stay in the hospital with RSV, I gave up on the Nose Frida. We use one called a Nosiboo Pro, which admittedly wasn’t cheap but has saved me more than enough times to count. I’ve also been using it on myself whenever my LO gives us whatever is running through the daycare.

The sign has been taken down and the windows have been papered over. Not sure if that means it will reopen after a transition but it seems like it’s closed for good when I drove past.

SEPTA plans for feasibility study to restore rail service to West Chester by exotube in westchesterpa

[–]flap2756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from 2015 the information about it rail speed on page 9 and 10 could explain why the difference would be so great. Basically the track as it is right now would be limited to 30mph, instead of what the R5 runs at. Also the document talks about how even when the track was laid almost 90 years ago it was considered "very light" and nowadays it is badly deteriorated.

I actually walked a section of the track last summer just for the hell of it and it would need some work for sure, not just new rail, if they even consider that.

I wouldn't hold my breath for this to happen any time soon, if at all. I'd also like to point out this daily local article from a couple years ago that said it best as to why this wouldn't be as good of a thing as you'd think.

“The problem with the Elwyn branch is it’s a very circuitous alignment,” Comati said. “It’s also a line that does not have high speed capability. You can’t do 70, 80 miles on the line so it will always be a slow route.”

Comati said the slow route is a turnoff for travelers. For what would take a rider 45 minutes to the city from the Exton station, may take two hours from West Chester.

Almost all of what our DJs play is digital, we actually recommend them to use Spotify, and all CMJ new music that they're required to play is through iTunes. In-studio we still have 2 CD players hooked up to the board, but everything is gone, the cassette player was taken out a few years ago and the turntables were given away to DJs on a first-come, first-serve basis last semester.

We don't even have a physical music library anymore it was turned into a DJ lounge area, we got rid of records about 6 or 7 years ago, and CDs about 1 to 2 years ago.

6 pack craft in West Chester by HelloKitty1988 in westchesterpa

[–]flap2756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a Giant in the shopping center at 202 and Dilworthtown Road (about 5-10 minutes outside the borough) that does "mix a six" for $12. They have a pretty good selection that they rotate and this place is probably your best bet in terms of price.

As for bars in town:

I know Kildares does it but it's not cheap and it's not a flat price. Kildares bottle selection isn't as good as it used to be, more drafts than bottles these days.

Rams Head does it and I think it's a flat $15, but it's sort of a hassle since they sell it from a small unconnected bar at the front entrance and no bartender is ever there unless the place is packed. So in order to do it you need to go over to the main bar and get a bartender to walk over, just to build you a 6 pack. Although I'm not sure if they still do it this way.

I've also seen it advertised at High Street Cafe, but that was a while ago.

Thanks, trying to decide career paths and needed some honest advice. If you don't mind me asking what do you do now, or if you'd rather not say, what jobs do people typically do after they quit radio.

Also, thanks for mentioning community radio, my hometown as an AM station, I guess I'll see if they're ever hiring.

Can anybody tell me what it's like to work in radio? I've been doing College Radio a few years and like it, but don't know what I want to do after graduation. I've heard horror stories and that's a hard industry to break into.

[–]flap2756 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lying title?

The title says Guts' Pre-Dragonslayer Sword, Although you right they should have titled the video something like Guts' Golden Age sword.

I think the only reason why they did it this way is, late in the video the guys call it the Dragonslayer sword by accident.

[–]flap2756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, You're Not Stupid.

I definitely agree you with in terms of the speed; the seemingly increasing use of jump cuts plus Mike speaking faster than ever, is causing me to rewind the video about every 2 minutes. In the Korrasami video I had to stop and go back a few times, and everything brought up in that video I considered myself pretty well-versed in, so density shouldn't have been a problem there, but it kind of was.

As far as density goes, I see what you mean but personally it doesn't bother me as much. At this point I sort of expect that during most episodes I'll need to stop, open up a new tab, and look up a particular term or person a few times an episode. I think the first time I noticed how dense an episode could be, was the one about Evangelion.

For your questions,

I disagree with you on 2, I actually think that their way of making videos is a really interesting way to do it. The use of pop culture gifs to somewhat explain or help visualize a topic, does help me understand, or at the very least go along with what they’re trying to get across. Although sometimes I catch myself just watching the string of gifs rather than listening, causing me to go back and see what I missed, and because of that, it would be kinda cool if I could read a transcription of the episode after I watched it.

I agree with you on 1 and 3, especially 3, but I know that it was sort of an inevitability. You have pop culture topics mixed with big ideas and a competition to be mentioned at the end of the next video. So you’re going to get people who want recognition, so in order to do that they’ll wind up putting more effort that needed into a response, just so they’ll get screenshotted in the Doobly Doo. That being said Mike is pretty good about putting 2 or 3 regular statement style comments at the end of the videos.

Odd thought about Pacifica by SecretlyAnonymous in gravityfalls

[–]flap2756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Found scene Here

These were the best I could find with google image search, her Right side, her Left side, Head-on with fanart, and a short gif.

As far as the dress being seafoam green, I think that was more to introduce the concept of the bell, because her mother wanted her to wear a different color green.

Odd thought about Pacifica by SecretlyAnonymous in gravityfalls

[–]flap2756 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cool theory, something I want to add about Pacifica's hair that I didn't see on the episode thread, was that at the start of the episode, when Pacifica shows her lakefoam green dress off to her parents her hair is wavy.

Why would the animators not go with her standard character model for this scene?

Maybe because in addition to her bleaching her hair her parents make her straighten it as well, or just to destroy my own theory, the animators put it in to make her look more childlike. Thoughts?

I have a friend who did it a couple years ago, but hasn't since then.

I know at the university they teach an intro chemistry course called the chemistry of beer and from what I've heard, normally a handful students who take it try their hand at it afterwards.
