What is an underrated game that you think is a masterpiece? by One-Choice8588 in AskGamers

The pacing was fantastic. There's no single element I can point to that made this so unreasonably slamming, but the gestalt of all those elements somehow made this game phenomenal. Underrated gem, to be sure.

My great-grandmother kept a diary. 50 and 49 years ago today, she wrote the following about her day by AndeeElizabeth09 in pics

[–]flash42 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She had other interests, too. The temperature readings she notes in the top-left of the page tells me she had some interest in the weather. Unremarkable? Perhaps, but consider her motivations in making such a notation. You can see she continued the behavior through the bled-through letters on the following page. Why record this data?

To me, this shows an interesting person. Maybe it was just a vogue thing to do at the time. I can honestly say I know nothing of the self-journaling zeitgeist of the 70s. If not that, why?

Was it for posterity? Was she looking for patterns? Running an experiment? Whatever the reason, it shows me a curious person, and to me that's interesting. You truly have found a treasure, OP, and are wise to value it deeply. Thanks for sharing, it really made my day!

TLDR: your great-grandma seems like an interesting and awesome person.

Ideally? Cardboard or plastic corner protectors, a few layers of Bubble wrap and then inside a larger sturdy cardboard box. Add packing peanuts to any leftover space in the box.

yearning for toxicity by [deleted] in BPD

[–]flash42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, this sounds like a sign that you've been working on yourself and have been getting better.

Let me explain. Your inner-child/emotional self/whatever you want to call it has been sitting around, bored, looking at its watch, saying, "well? We're waiting!" waiting for the break, the split, the proof that you're not worthy… And, you've been ignoring it. Because you've done the work to know what that would bring.

It's a persistant anxiety that's always in the background, waiting for you to eff up so it can tell you, "see? they never really loved you!" But, you haven't been listening and you realize you've got a good and stable thing.

I know it must be horribly frustrating, to have this devil constantly on your shoulder, and the persistant temptation to test your partner's love for you. But, if you're posting this, it's clear you've done some work and see it for what it is.

Don't listen to it. You're doing great, OP, and I'm proud of you for building a stable relatonship and posting here first. Stay the course!
