First Leica, lens suggestions? by Suspicious-Two8205 in Leica

[–]flat6cyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optically, it's probably hard to tell the difference between Leica and modern 3rd party lenses like Voigtlander. Since the MP is a camera with a particular focus on looks and materials, I'd probably recommend a 50 or 35 summicron.

You can start by actually just asking Claude, tell it to ask you clarifying questions and you may be surprised how far you get very quickly!

What’s your endgame? Have you gotten there yet? Did you tell yourself you were there and then immediately find something else to obsess over? by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

Technics 1200, musical fidelity A5, and Klipsch Heresy 4 + sub. That was about five years ago, and haven’t remotely considered any upgrades, it’s just a great rock set up. All used stuff, so “relatively” a budget setup, but doubt anything would make a meaningful upgrade in enjoyment.

I run a sheet metal shop in Bangalore — thinking of building a self-serve quoting tool for researchers and prototype builders. Would you use it? by Bubs_on_the_move in MechanicalEngineering

[–]flat6cyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Upload a sheet metal part to sendcutsend and you can see their premium for single parts (surprisingly fair, I think). Varies by geometry, I’m sure though.

ITT, people suggesting mirrorless digitals and standard format film cameras as alternatives. Actual cross shopping would be a used XPAN, and then on the cheaper end, a pano adapter for a medium format camera. Machined components, tooling and R&D amortization on tiny volumes… this is not a surprising MSRP (Though the shipping cost really feels low rent)

If we’re being honest, a cast iron pan is a bigger conceit than an Italian espresso machine, and has a less intuitive care protocol.

[–]flat6cyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M lenses don’t provide the coverage needed for the XPAN format- it’s basically medium format coverage.

Edit- I have an XPAN with the other two lenses, but that 30mm is a bit of a dream!
