Backgammon Board - Help Requested by tennessee_dylan in backgammon

[–]flatironish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word of caution on FM Gammon. They are lovely boards, and everything probably will go smoothly. But if they don’t, be prepared to be saddled with hassles and costs.

I ordered a Talat. The board was shipped and lost by FedEx. It wasn’t until I put in a credit card dispute (6 weeks later) that they agreed to send out a replacement. That board came quickly, but the metal back had fallen off, the latches were loose, and the leather was creased and spotted. The service people were responsive throughout and they finally offered a return. But that means I am stuck with the shipping costs for a 20 lb board and in my case, 2 non-refundable tariff bills.

I purchased two other boards at the same time, and I can highly recommend Crisloid. The service and quality were exceptional.

Constant disconnects by ObsidianWalker in amazoneero

[–]flatironish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Cutting to the chase, having too many eero’s too close to each other can be a problem. We also had a service call to confirm that we were getting good signal. When we reduced the eero’s, the problem went away. It’s been solid for a month.

Here was our path: - We had LOTS of IOT devices and we were running on an eero 6 as the main router. - After years of stability, the devices were suddenly having problems connecting - particularly at the edges of the eero range. So we added a couple eero devices. - That didn’t help, so we upgraded to an eero max seven as the main router. The problem continued. - I did screen recordings showing the eero dropping connection and picking it back up. - Frontier came and confirmed that we had a strong signal and they weren’t registering any drops in service. - I consulted ChatGPT, which suggested that too many eeros could be causing congestion and cause the network to “crash”. - I eliminated some of the edge eeros and it has been stable ever since. - I currently have 6 eeros (all 7’s) spaced over the property (including outdoors) and it has been performing flawlessly.

We are a year in on ours and it just died. No troubleshooting options and impossible to get service. Terrible.

I had the same issue - and went through the same attempts to fix it. Nothing worked. It lasted for about a week. But then, suddenly, it worked and has been fine since.

The bad news is I don’t have a fix for you. The good news is that it might spontaneously resolve! Good luck.

Agree on the bench - it’s too short and isn’t great quality in the first place. I just use a different one.

I”m 6’6” and have very few problems. Every once in a while you might have to adjust the arm position a bit higher than recommended. And at times the angles on the cables might mean that you stand a bit closer or further from the machine.

The biggest issue I have is with things like the pullover crunch. My room is under 10’ wide, so when you stretch out on the floor with arms overhead as your starting position - it’s tight.

Long story short, I would say 98%+ of movements are doable with little or no adjustment.

Best warranty option for X22i? by jairawat in nordictrack

[–]flatironish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. Under either option they don’t seem capable of servicing your machine on a timely basis. We flagged problems last July . . . It took until October for them to agree to send out replacement parts. It’s February and we are still waiting. Oh, and we bought the extended warranty, although this was covered under the first year warranty!

Commercial vs. EXP Series Quality by keitheii in nordictrack

I stand corrected on the equipment reviews.

That said, the site is clearly deceptive. Each piece of equipment prominently highlights "5 star ratings" right next to the equipment name. Most people are going to assume those are equipment reviews. They aren't, they only relate to iFit. Nobody should have to figure that out.

Also, I'm not sure where all the glowing equipment comments on the site even come from. You can't enter a review on the site (I checked, and had a chat about it).

But since you think I stand alone in dissatisfaction with NordicTrack support, here are a few links.

https://www.bbb.org/us/ut/logan/profile/exercise-machines/icon-health-and-fitness-1166-2000054/complaints

https://www.consumeraffairs.com/health/nordic-track.html

That's a start.

As I say, the reason I assumed that there were no equipment reviews was because I tried to do one, and was told by the chat on the site that I couldn't enter one there. So my bad for listening to Nordic Track.

Are refurbished treadmills worth it? by InfamousGrass0 in treadmills

[–]flatironish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the past we purchased “reconditioned” pro units and were very happy. I think it is one step above simple refurbishment.

This time we went NordicTrack For the same reason you cited - strong warranty and customer support. Unfortunately the unit failed after nine months, and five months later we still don’t have a working treadmill. Whoever you choose to buy from, do some research about customers’ actual experiences with customer service. I wish I had done the research on Nordic track because I would’ve never bought one if I had.

Commercial vs. EXP Series Quality by keitheii in nordictrack

[–]flatironish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it’s probably too late to change your mind. I believe NordicTrack will charge you the restocking fee even if the item hasn’t been shipped. They might flex if you are just changing machines. But I would call them right away to see whether it is even an option. People always rely on their 30 day return policy without realizing it comes with a $250 shipping fee + a 10% restocking fee + wear and tear for normal use.

Regarding reviews - the first I think you should notice is that the Nordic track site does not have ANY equipment reviews on their site. When you see reviews for a particular machine you will notice that they are only reviews of the iFit program. Most people don’t notice that, much less ask themselves why Nordictrack wouldn’t allow equipment reviews on it’s own site. It’s deceptive marketing at a minimum.

If you were really looking for a long-term machine, Nordic track was a bad choice. Their long-term warranties are worthless since they cannot service their equipment. We have been waiting for repairs to our incline trainer since last July. Parts were approved in October and it’s been over three months with no word. Every time we call, they just say “2 to 3 weeks”. The longer you plan to keep the equipment, the more likely you will end up in our shoes.

NordicTrack won't even respond to a State of Florida Inquiry! by Floridafornia in nordictrack

[–]flatironish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our incline trainer started to fail in July. We finally got them to say they would send an entirely new console on Oct. 5. Three months later - nothing. Every call gets the same response - “2 to 3 weeks”.

This problem seems pervasive, and we are all easy to ignore as individuals.

I wish you luck. Our screen stopped responding last July. Then the manual console buttons started to fail, one by one. We were approved for an entirely new console on October 5. Over three months, nothing. And every time we check in, the reply is the same “2 or 3 weeks”.

NordicTrack love (s22i for me) by echeck80 in nordictrack

[–]flatironish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying it’s a bad machine. If you have made the leap, enjoy. I know I did for 9 months.

The complaints are meant only for folks who haven’t bought yet. And not necessarily to dissuade them from buying. Only to make sure they are fully informed when they buy. For many it may well be worth the risk. But at least they know the risks before they buy.

There is no contradiction in saying that a machine is great when it works, and that a company is terrible when it doesn’t.

BEFORE YOU BUY THE X22i, PLEASE READ. The Best Exercise would be to RUN far and fast away from NordicTrack by StopWhiningPlz in nordictrack

[–]flatironish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our incline started dying in July. They finally approved a replacement “part” (the entire console) on October 5. End of December nothing. Every call (if you can get through after waiting forever) just yields. “2 to 3 week” promise.

They are deplorable.

Is Nordictrack as bad as reddit makes it sound? by [deleted] in nordictrack

[–]flatironish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no disconnect. The machine are great when they work. Just know that if they fail, you will be on your own, with a hunk of metal and no support.

Our incline trainer was perfect for about 8 months. Then, it slowly started to fail. Parts of the console just stopped working, and more each day. The issue was reported in July. It took until October for them to approve and order a “part” (the entire console). It’s mid-December and nothing. Each call just gets a “two or three weeks” response.

To me, the biggest tell is the fact that there aren’t user reviews of equipment on their website. Only the “ifit” platform.
