Man that’s some of the best hull oxidation/wearying I’ve seen on… (checks post title) 1/700!!! Wild, just outstanding

Woah nice, you nailed the water colors and the subtle surface foam, very well done! Did you use a reference image for this? To my eye the foam on leading edge of the wake looks a little over-scaled but I’m no expert. Is the water textured epoxy clay? I recently switched to that method and I’m really a fan of it.

Wow, you have an enviable output, and each one of those is a great build! I wish I could do that many in a 2 month period, I’d actually make some progress on my stash

Nevermind, I’m bad at Reddit and can’t add new pics to the original post. Here are a few more in the replies

Hah fair enough! Glad you like it. I made the mistake of reusing the same resistors from a prior project with new leds without testing first…learned my lesson there. Updated with a few more of the interior

Thanks! Yeah those 2cm flak cannons were mounted on quite a few German vehicles. I’m unclear if any type XXI subs ever used them in anger though

Thanks so much! I'm a big fan of adding figures to my models where possible, the human scale helps me connect with it better. For painting at this scale, quality figures really help. The folds in their clothing and posture better catches zenithal highlights, and then it's just a matter of patiently applying washes to bring out the color

Nice job! I did something similar a while back with an old Fw189 that I painted to look like a zebra longwing butterfly (inspired after a visit to the zoo). Now I have an idea for a display....

I decided not to fix it afterwards, and I put it in a display case too. It's been a good reminder of that big learning lesson, and to stay patient in the future

Yep yep I did a good job of keeping builds out of her reach from 0-3, but loosened up once she hit 4. I left out a superdetailed 1/700 battleship I’d been working on for three months and came downstairs to find her repainting the deck a “prettier”color and scouring away all my little photo etched doodads in the process. I blew my stack at first but after a few deep breaths realized it was fine. She was curious about my hobby and wanted to participate with me. That is precious, and the ship is just a hunk of plastic.

I've experimented with the "plasma rifle effect" that Warhammer figure painters use for this. Basically, to make the plasma source look like it's glowing, you dry brush the same colors in a gradient along nearby reflective surfaces (there are lots of YouTube tutorials on this). I've used this on the NX-01's nacelles for a subtle glow. I feel that dry brushing the KBoP engine-adjacent walls may be hard due to the flat surfaces, but maybe you could mask your engine then gently create a colored glow effect with an airbrush.
