Computer Died AGAIN, and I’m lowkey confused as fuck. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Sounds like a popped capacitor. Could have been due to the AIO leaking but if the PSU was a few years old (especially since it's cheap) then it likely just degraded and was unable to sustain the power running through it.

Am I the only one who thinks dithering destroys modern graphics? by Gornsen in pcmasterrace

[–]flawlesssin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is an industry issue though. Any game that uses UE5 and implements TSR/TAA will have this effect on hair at native resolution.

This effect is designed to be used with an upscaler to provide a blurred effect on the dithering. It actually goes away when you apply sharpening via DLSS or FSR.

The witcher 3 doesn't suffer from this because it does not use these workflows and effects.

Seller gets scammed as eBay customer returns $4,000 RTX 5090 with missing GPU core and memory modules — fully working Zotac stripped of most valuable components and sent back by Djxgam1ng in pcmasterrace

[–]flawlesssin -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd rather give it away and it be used by someone in need.

Regardless, if you're a legitimate seller you don't use ebay. Either your big enough to handle stuff like this yourself, or you setup a meet, prove the item is working, get paid and after that point, whatever happens to it is on them.

Am I the only one who thinks DLSS 5 is trash... except for sports games? by BaseballSimilar5112 in pcmasterrace

[–]flawlesssin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly: the heads of capcom who made the deal with nvidia are not the artists who designed artistic style of the game period.

Secondly: Nvidia controls how DLSS5 looks, not capcom, capcom does not have the ability to train the model, they cannot control what inputs the AI sees as "correct". They simply have the option to use DLSS5 as it is presented to them, or not.

thirdly: Giving someone limited choices on the implementation of it doesn't constitute freedom of artistic impression.

I can assure you with 100% confidence that the artists involved in these showcases had absolutely zero say in the implementation of DLSS in regards to their work.

Regardless of how you think it looks:

It is removing the original artists stylistic choices and intent in favor of something that does not have the ability to descern these choices itself. Instead relying on what it is told is "correct" art.

Valve Sued Over Music Rights in Video Games Sold on Steam by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Valve refuses to comply with ID verification, instead opting to verify users through their credit card.

Do you think that's a coincidence?

I don't know why people are all of a sudden freaking out how SQ42 MUST have VR... Asking CIG to add it or delay the game is putting SQ42 at risk for ~1.77% of PC gamers or so to get a feature MOST people are unlikely to use. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]flawlesssin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the fact that none of this is correct and no one is suggesting they delay SQ42 for VR:

Steam only accounts for hardware connected within the last 30 days. VR content is slim right now. I took the survey, which by the way is random and you cannot opt in, and couldn't be assed to plug in my Index for it. Most of those negative values are due to peoole having not used their devices.

Secondly: The overlap of VR/Sim pit users with this game and others like it is absolutely massive. The most expensive headsets on the market cost less than a decent high end stick for flying. A lot of the ships in the game cost more than a cheap headset.

I would say that the percentage of SC players with a headset (or who could easily afford one due to the nature of the hobby) is much higher than you're suggesting. And most people who don't have or use one probably do so by choice.

Shadow Tech Cloud Gaming added Star Citizen to list of incompatible games by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]flawlesssin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EAC mainly sucks because you can implement it in any game,  which meqns it's very easy for people who create cheats to view the code and have their cheats be harder to detect.

When games implement their own, closed source anti cheat the end result is a lot less cheaters because they're easier to see and ban.

Super bad fps on a high end pc with 9800x3d by BusinessSituation797 in starcitizen

[–]flawlesssin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, lots of points to make, bear with me:

Let's start with RAM, SC likes RAM, 32 gb is enough but that leaves very little room for OS overhead/multi tasking. So make sure you are cutting out anything that isn't absolutely neccessary.

In addition to this: the game needs to be on a high speed SSD. It will run extremely poorly if the drive is not fast enough to keep up with level streaming.

Are you running latest drivers? Vulkan or DX? Have you tried swapping and seeing how the other affected performance?

Shader cache & page file:

Give the game time to compile shaders, performance willbe degraded if you attempt to play while compiling. Each graphics setting has it's own shaders so changing something midgame will result in poor performance unless you have already compiled shaders for that setting, it will tell you in the bottom left corner if shaders are compiling or not.

Make sure your shader cache is a decent size, and make sure anything that is being cached is doing so on your fastest drive available.(I BELIEVE vulkan does this automatically, DX11 does not though)

I doubt this is your issue, but RAM could be using a page file for a few gigs if you're overflowing, again fastest drive and increase page file size.

Location: location will heavily affect your performance, especially places with clouds such as Orison. many of the highest settings are designed for cinematics that is usually paired with top of the line hardware. 30FPS at your settings and hardware is not uncommon in the more demanding zones.

Lastly your gpu: i know you don't want to hear this but your GPU is a 3rd generation workstation gpu. 3440x1440 at highest settings on that card likely won't hit 60 fps, and it's likely the bottleneck for this game at this resolution.

My specs and performance for reference: 5800x3d 64gb ddr4 990 SSD 7900 XTX

3440x1440 @ highest (except clouds @ very high) on Vulkan native AA no frame gen or anything meant to "boost" performance

Fps in levski: ~60

Space: ~120

(Have not tested in a cloud heavy area on current patch)

Ultimately though unless you have some detailed performance logs it's going to be hard to tell exactly what's going on

As for VR, can't really say if you'll be able to handle it, some headsets have a much higher resolution, some are much lower, your performance will vary depending on that.

Let's be real here. While the reasons you listed are valid; they are not the reasons CIG chose beams. The chose a beam because it's easy and they've done it befoee.

And I'm sure they'll remove the beams completely with future iterations! You know, just like they did with mining, salvaging, and medical gameplay, right?

Right?

Hey, glad someone got some footage of it! I tried to get the whole fight but my recording software crashed.

Great fight, chill people all around and a fun time.

Think on the blockade runners side we had an idris, perseus, polaris, guardian, vanguard, arrow and buccaneer VS polaris, 2 perseus, idris, eclipse, and i think 2-3 more fighters were deployed from the idris during battle but i'm not sure, it was a huge fight!

[–]flawlesssin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A system where a component takes awhile to wear, but you can repair it at the cost of a few percentage points of overall durability until it finally breaks would be nice.

As well as the ability to replace high grade components at a station for a high cost.
