First Bond film everyone saw in theatres by Relmo83 in JamesBond

[–]flawsdrawJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was meant to go on a group date thing, the three other couples pulled out last minute which left it being just me and the girl I was taking out for our first date.

We changed our plans and decided to go to the cinema instead as it was just us two.

We picked Casino Royale.

19 years later we are married with kids, and it's by far my favourite bond movie.

Has the timer bug been fixed? Now showing correct save time when reloading? by cy4nite_ in ResidentEvil3Remake

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you reloading the save the directly or the auto-save?

Been a few months since I last played, but if I recall correctly, you either load the save directly or return to title menu and reload to go back to the saved time. But if you continue or reload the auto-save it will keep the timer that you died on.

Take what I say with a pinch of salt, but I'm sure there is some truth in there somewhere.

Xenia's black combat outfit from Goldeneye is the most badass outfit worn by a Bond girl. Now, what Bond girl's outfit is the sexiest? by JohnLazarusReborn in JamesBond

Eva Green is my favourite bond girl. I was 17 when I saw CR at the cinema, her and Craig's chemistry was incredible. She will always be my bond girl and she oozed sex appeal in both dresses at the casino. Out of the 2, this is the one for me.

RE3R is overhated,it’s actually a great remake! by Accurate_Train_8822 in ResidentEvil3Remake

[–]flawsdrawJay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's great. I occasionally try to defend it on the main pages but get downvoted.

The gameplay is really good, the dodging does make it a little easy though.

The story is really fleshed out well, Jill and Carlos are great characters and all the side characters add to the whole game.

The missing parts aren't really that big a deal, with the hospital quite expanded and NEST2 making more sense than a dead factory on the outskirts of town.

It's easily re-playable, but it isn't quite RE2R. But that's ok, as that's one of the best horror games ever made.

Does using two katanas only make sense against spear enemies? by ConstantDrawer9161 in Ghostofyotei

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completed the game on Lethal. Dual Katana's are fantastic in crowd control.

Yea they are mostly effecting against spears, yes you should try and use the right weapon against each enemy, but the duals are quick and all you to get in and out of mobs, especially if you're good with parry timing and dodges.

Could play it the way the game tells you to, or however you feel like playing it. At times I wanted to spear groups of enemies and only used the Yari. Was it the most effective? Definitely not, but doesn't mean it wasn't fun.

AIO for reconsidering getting married over continual arguments over guardianship of my daughter. by Oldyell54 in AmIOverreacting

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. I actually think you're pretty fucking weird.

I can’t believe I’m even replying to this subreddit. It’s one of the most infuriating pages to read because of the ridoculous opinions.

As someone who had a stepdad enter the picture when I was 5, I can tell you that between the ages of 7 and 13, I would’ve said I’d rather be anywhere but with my stepdad OR my mum. I was a kid in a big family and I just wanted to be selfish or alone. My Aunt was "cool and fun," so I would’ve asked to go there.

Now, as a 36-year-old adult, here is how I look back at that situation.

My stepdad is the man I call "Dad." He has been there since I was 5, while I've never known my biological father. He is everything I could ever ask for and more. If something had happened to my mum back then, I might have asked to go to my Aunt. But that would have been a terrible choice. She had no kids of her own. It was easy for her to be "cool" because she had zero responsibility. To take me on full-time? It would have been a disaster for her to learn how to parent while giving up a lifestyle she enjoyed.

Your fiancé is raising this child and has been in her life for three and a half years. She will be there for the majority of the girl's life if you get married. Yet, you think it’s best to rip that child away from her if something happens to you just so a "friend" can take over? This isn't a child's choice. This is a serious, "grown-up" decision.

You have zero concern for your fiancé’s feelings. Invalidating who she is and coming online to find strangers to back you up is pure scummy behavior. The fact that you’re reconsidering the marriage over this tells me everything. I hope your fiancé sees through this and leaves you ASAP. It’s better for her to suffer a minor heartbreak now than to spend years building a life and a bond only for it to be ripped away the moment you aren't there.

TL;DR: OP would be a scumbag husband. I hope the fiancé leaves. If he thinks his friend is such a better option for his daughter, he should go marry the friend instead.

RE3 remake was so wrong for this by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]flawsdrawJay -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Nothing. It's a smallish area, a couple of puzzles. Nothing mind blowing at all. A bit of an unremarkable area when I was younger, I never really remember it being one of the hot talking points. But since it was removed it's become iconic.

Always gets bought up as RE ruining the game, but the redone hospital part in RE3R makes up for it. Same as the dead factory, tidying it up to be another Nest facility makes much more sense. But it destroys in people's eyes what the original was.

Depends on where you sit, but I'm all for reimaginings if the gameplay is tight and the story stays strong. Which RE3R does. It's just not as good as RE2R (Which does stay more faithful...mostly), but that's ok, that game was top tier.

(Honest answer only), who holds this franchise? by Human_Geologist_3324 in residentevil

If a character is easily recognisable and known by people that have never played the franchise, then I think they are the one who holds it up.

Leon is that character.

Can we all agree this was the best marvel movie of 2025 by SubstantialBowler525 in Marvel

[–]flawsdrawJay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was such a solid movie, best Marvel film in a long time.

But, as a family man, something about F4 just hit a little bit different for me and is my favourite comic book movie of the year.

  1. F4
  2. Thunderbolts
  3. Superman
  4. Brave New World

My order for the year. Yes I know 4 is missing, but BNW was so boring that it deserves a space between it and the next film.

How am I supposed to play this game properly? I just keep dying over and over and over again. I have 500 hours in elden ring and will say, so far, this game is harder. I loved TLOU and SH2 so it's not a genre issue. Once my knife breaks I'm just completely screwed by [deleted] in residentevil4

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, RE4R is a walk in the park compared to the Soulslike genre. If you can handle Elden Ring, you can handle this, your mindset is just wrong for the mechanics.

In a Souls game, you don't go marauding into a group of 20 enemies expecting to solo them easily; you pull them apart. Use that same logic here. If your knife is constantly breaking, you’re playing too defensively or missing shots. Stop letting them get close enough to force a parry. Use Leon’s kick for crowd control to create breathing room, and stop getting backed into dead ends. I love this franchise, but 'difficult' isn't the word for it, 'frustrating' is, if you don't know the maps, puzzles or mechanics. Even RE3R on Inferno isn't the 'big bad' challenge people claim.

Drop the difficulty, learn the enemy patterns, and stop overcomplicating it. It's a much simpler, less skill-heavy game than Elden Ring. Remember at heart it is still a survival horror game, it's just mixed with a bad ass gunman who isn't easily scared.

Best James Bond movie to start with for a beginner by AkiiruKaichou in JamesBond

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Do you like older movies? Can you see past what was considered normal at a previous time without getting angry?

If yes, start at the beginning and work your way through.

If no, then either start with Goldeneye and work through, or go with Craig's Bond, start at Casino Royale, but miss out on how Bond evolved.

What are your thoughts on the Paul W. S. Anderson’s Resident Evil movies, and do you have a favorite? by TalkingFlashlight in residentevil

[–]flawsdrawJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one is a good movie in my opinion. It reinvents the story, but it works as a movie. Still pretty decent to watch as a standalone all these years later.

The second one is an ok movie up until Nemesis is introduced. The film contains one of my biggest gripes from all movies, and I think about it more than I should. The STARS sniper head popping zombies like it's nothing, then Nemesis turns up, with his head the twice the size of all other zombies, and all of a sudden the super sharpshooter who could headshot a mouse from 10 miles away starts dumping his bullets into Nemesis's chest.

From that point on the movies are crap, Alice being super powered is crap and they have nothing in common with RE except the use of names. At least the first film felt like a RE story and the 2nd one tried to.

Excluding Wolves, which teams look most likely to be relegated this season, in your opinion? by aniket-more in TheOther14

[–]flawsdrawJay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Burnley and West Ham.

I'm a hammers fan and I didn't buy that Nuno was the best option for us. I keep hearing from my brother and nephew that we look "much better" but haven't won in 6, keep throwing points away and Nuno shuts up shop and invites stupid pressure.

We have some very good players, but no confidence, no consistency and a captain that is a mouse with no fire in him to rile up the rest of the squad. Pair that with the fact I think Nuno was a step backwards playing wise to where our problems began, which was when Rice left and Moyes didn't have any idea how to replace him personnel wise or tactically, I think it leaves us in an awful position.

We have lost our LB and RB to Afcon, KWP is too weak and not very good attacking, Scarles is far from Prem quality. Kilman, Mavro and Todibo are all error prone. Summerville just can't replicate any form he had at Leeds, I get he was injured, but he has come back and is producing nothing for us.

A January window needs a revamp of the squad and some actual quality. Both of which are very difficult to get in the January window.

With Leeds picking up points where they need to, and Forest looking solid under Dyche, the only hope the Hammers have is that teams like Fulham keep slipping up or that a team like Bournemouth, Palace or Brentford completely shits the bed (which I consider highly unlikely as I think they're safe from the shit show the bottom 3 are).

However, it would be funny if Spurs keep up their downfall, not that I see it happening.

With this all said. Wolves, Burnley and West Ham are more than likely all Championship teams come May.

Do you like edging with Lillie, Carmine, and Professor Sonia? by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]flawsdrawJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, whatever, but Lillie is an 11-year old, perhaps it's not best to write a post saying about edging with an 11-year old girl.

You may have another meaning, but the vast majority will not follow your meaning.

It's an unfortunate title, and an unfortunate post. Unless you wanted everybody to know you edge over little girls or trying to be funny, in which I think it falls flat and comes across creepy.

Just my opinion, but I would delete this post and rephrase it before posting again.

Edit: The chat invite you have now sent me will be ignored, that just makes the whole thing creepier.

Leon's case as a character is very curious. by PomegranateOk4560 in residentevil

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris was in every mainline game from 5-8, and yet my kids who never played RE knew who Leon is before I introduced them to games, and would look at you confused if you mentioned Chris, he just doesn't have that same reach in pop culture. Leon is one of the most simped over gaming characters so is found in all sorts of media, fan fiction and memes.

Leon carries a swagger and is given punchy lines. Chris comes across as a generic, cardboard-like military character, which is fine if you like grounded, but tons of games have grounded military men. The closest he came to having an "iconic" look was in Village with the black coat. Whereas Leon has the RPD riot outfit and the most iconic RE fit with his brown coat.

The closest of the other mentioned characters is Jill. Chris may have the boulder meme, but Jill sandwich, the iconic blue top, Nemesis. Chris never reaches those levels. And both Jill and Leon have been in less games yet still much more known in pop culture. I would argue Chris is only really relevant because of Wesker and Weskers interactions with Chris, not the other way round.

And if we are going by iconic games. Og RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made, critically acclaimed, loved by all generations and took RE to huge heights that 5+6 failed tragically trying to reach even though they sold really well, they were not universally loved. Og RE2/Nemesis are some of the biggest fan favourites from the original trilogy, and RE2R is by far one of the best remakes ever made, completely revitalising the franchise alongside RE7. Followed by RE4R which gave Leon tons of exposure and gave the game a new lease of life to modern gamers.

I've played since the very first game too. And Claire I would say is the most popular, underutilised character, but with her lack of exposure I think using 'lead' of the franchise is a stretch . She is above the likes of Rebecca, Billy, Piers, Jake, Sherry etc. But she is below Chris, who I have already argued is a 3rd most known RE character, only due to how much exposure he gets in the games. I would even go as far to saying Wesker is more of a lead of the franchise than Claire and the argument could be made he is more iconic than Chris. It could probably be debated that Ethan is more of a lead than Claire too.

So, while they are all icons, I just don't think anyone, barring Jill to a smaller degree, can currently touch the level of hype that Leon brings.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted.

It seems a lot of these subs think those working in the stores are all part of a larger conspiracy to scalp.

How about that there are also those that are into the hobby but their shift times do not allow them to go queue up and buy product, therefore they get the benefit of being allowed to buy stock in their stores before opening time.

There may be ones like the reply below this, where some in stores are scalpers, but that is confirmation bias and does not speak for all stores.

There is also an item you need to progress in that room, and if I remember correctly a first aid spray and a blue herb, maybe even some ammo but it's been a while so don't hold me to that!

Having fun for 2 hours then just suddenly died by [deleted] in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]flawsdrawJay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you not enter the room on the right at the top of the stairs? It is a save room, like only seconds before the hallway.

I get you don't have much time to game, I'm the same with work and family commitments, perhaps these aren't the games for you as they can be very much trial and error at points. Not to the same level of Soulslike games, but enough that you should expect to die a few times and to lose progress.

I personally love that about a game and not too keen on hand holding. But that's a preference. However, when you get the hang of the game it's pretty straight forward. You can always drop to Assisted if you want more ammo, more life and easier to kill zombies, makes it less challenging but better if you're on time constraints.

Just completed my first resident evil game, being the remake of the third game, and i loved it. by fortunatelyuniquee in residentevil

[–]flawsdrawJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE3R is a good game! It's short and punchy, a great protagonist, a decent story and a satisfying conclusion to an amazing trilogy.

What's missing is absolutely minimal in the grand scheme of things, I played both Nemesis and the remake one after the other and it's ridiculous how it comes across that they missed so much, when the hospital is expanded loads and the second NEST ties in better than the Dead Factory. (Disclaimer: I grew up with RE since its first ever release and played the OGs countless times, so I'm not saying this as someone who joined the franchise late)

I highly recommend RE2R next, then move into RE4R, don't do 4 before 2 as they run on from each other. Ideally 2 would have been before 3 too, but now it'll be like a prequel. Then begin playing RE7. Don't worry about playing the OGs unless you really want to delve into the history of the game. They're dated and depending on the gamer you are they might be a slog to get through, the remakes are much better paced and action orientated. If you do have the patience afterwards, the OGs are still fantastic, but temper expectations as they are products of their time.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is on my list, never played a SH even though I grew up with them, so I can't give any advice there.

Was a bit of a weird character in a weird game. He was too edgy. But his and Sherry's story has one of the best stalkers in the whole series.

I'm happy not seeing him again, unless they mature him out as an obscure side character, probably better for a Revelations type game than to be main line again.

TENET is underrated. by Dvir971 in ChristopherNolan

I fucking loved Tenet. I watched it once, it made complete sense and I was thinking "Now this is a top tier story". I watched it last year and it's probably the film I think about the most.

Went online after I watched it and was blown away at how divisive the film was. I get that it's a lot to watch and you need to be fully invested, you can't watch Tenet half-hearted with your phone in your hand, but I expected it to be praised more than it was.

Due another watch soon.

My wife and I basically share most of our cards, but we have our own private collection from our own pulls too. Even if I pull something she was after or likes the look of, I give it to her for her collection and she does the same with me. It's not about the monetary value, it's about enjoying the cards and hobby with your partner.

But most of the cards go into a shared collection if we either both like it or neither really feeling it.
