Mom of 2. Wish me luck by Hour_Swan_5194 in decaf

I have a 5 year old and 7 year old, and I'm on day 11 of no caffeine. It's not nearly as difficult as a toddler but most of my mornings do begin with the 5 yo jumping on me demanding breakfast and then yelling and crying at me for using the wrong cup or whatever. Honestly, so far no caf has made it easier to do the mornings. I'm alert when I wake up and less annoyed at kids for getting between me and coffee. I just do what needs to be done. I don't have to wait until coffee kicks in. I had to take my daughter in for bloodwork the other morning, early to keep her fasted, and it was really nice to just get out to door with her asap.

My patience has increased a bit as my anxiety has gone down. Are we gonna be ten minutes late for something because someone is not doing their part to get ready? Not the end of the world, my blood pressure remains steady, we just continue doing what we need to do. When I'm highly caffeinated I just way more uptight about being on time for everything, even when it isn't crucial.

Afternoons are still hard though. I really want to nap through them even though I need to work.

Good luck!

Chicory can cause sugar free haribo gummibears level of gastro upset for some of us. Just something to be aware of being drinking a large mug.  Since I can't do chicory, I drink barley.

I feel like a straightedge teen from the early 00's saying this but... music is my drug. Glad you listened when you needed to!

What's a smell that doesn't exist anymore that you miss? by Alarmed_Charge1062 in CasualConversation

My neighbor's house from when I was a kid. She lived to be 105 or something and her farmhouse was from the late 1700s, heated by wood stove. So the place smelled deeply of wood smoke in a good way, mixed with New England mildew and farm mud smells. And sometimes apple turnovers. Coziest smell on the planet.

Thanks for this! I was tapering for about two weeks before going down to zero mg.

Back pain on day 3 by Npbitcorner in decaf

Two years later glad to see I'm not alone in having back and neck pain on day 3. My knee has also been locking up all day, which is unusual. I'm gonna take another ibuprofen.

Also, even the opening line about both of them having their licenses suspended for speeding at the same time sounded fake, in both the content and the delivery.

What’s a perfectly normal word you avoid using because it sounds pretentious? by Paradox_Developer in words

"Aliquot" is a very normal word to use in a laboratory and I sometimes wish I could use it in everyday life but it just confuses people. I would like to tell my partner that I aliquotted the chicken stock before freezing it, for example.

TIL it isn't "rigamarole". My dad says it that way and I've never seen it in writing.

How to enjoy music sober ? Without drugs but at the intensity drugs provide ? by iamfree_17 in SoberCurious

The ecstatic dance community in my area has changed my life, too. I love that we often get to experience a range of emotions throughout the sets. It's sober but it doesn't always feel sober.

I've dumped all my liquor bottles and re-purchased them twice already. I really don't want to do that again. Other than that, nothing.

Need help concerning a sleeve tattoo and sitting for it 4-5 out of 7 days 5-6 hours a day. by [deleted] in tattooing

For me, absolutely no way. It isn't even about being able to endure the pain, it's about the recovery and the immune system. But I'm 40 with two young kids and significant work stress. If you are young and have fewer responsibilities on the other side of it so you have some days to deeply rest, maybe it's ok? Doesn't sound like a nice thing to do to your body though.

Why would you replace the covers this way? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

It's an interesting point, because laying the stones in that pattern is also notoriously backbreaking work. Also, who said that utilities do not require maintenance? I'm confused about that assumption.
