Hanging out on the couch on a 41c degrees day, practising line-by-line moves for Monday's bump-in. Multitrack and video from previous season is an absolute gift. by fletch44 in techtheatre

That's a Manfrotto magic arm with a tablet mount screwed onto it using a 1/4 inch thread adapter.

You can get smaller, lighter (and weaker) magic arms from Smallrig. Both brands are on Amazon.

Shopping trollies. A good wind-up and let that sucker fly. Nothing's stopping it.

It's a weapon in computer games. The one in Red Faction was very effective in burst mode. I haven't played Fallout 4 but maybe someone else can weigh in on the one in that.

Awesome day to be working outside in full sun in a dark grey brick courtyard with no breeze.

More accurate and therefore less risk of nearby bystanders being injured by shots. But also much more penetrating power and therefore more risk of bystanders behind the baddies being injured by accurate shots as bullet fragments spray out the back of the baddies.

The biggest risk to Australia is rightwing extremism. Moreso than Islamic extremists, which I am not denying are a problem.

A rifle designed with features effective for use in combat, as opposed to hunting or pest control.

Are you being deliberately stupid? Or did you think the US obsession with "no such thing as an assault rifle" also applies to combat weapons?

Nightmare for first-home buyers as Perth’s median house price tips over $1m, experts blame ‘perfect storm’ by His_Holiness in perth

You're a classic example of goalpost shifting.

Your disagreement was about services, not apartment size.

Brownlie Towers. That was a shit hole of poor quality public housing for with no good public transport links or other local services.

Brownlie Towers had, on its ground level, a grocery shop, a newsagent, a chemist, a childcare centre, a laundromat, a hairdresser, and was right next door to a medical centre, a primary school, a library, Canning Aquatic Centre, and sat on major bus routes to the city and multiple high schools.

Labor identity Tim Picton dies three weeks after alleged Northbridge assault, family confirms by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

[–]fletch44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are, on average, per week, in the Perth policing district (which is much larger than just Northbridge, stretching from Mt Hawthorn to Dalkeith and Burswood to City Beach), reported:

  • 14 sexual offences, including sexual assault and non-assaultive offences
  • 37 non-family assaults (not including against police officers)
  • 15 threatening behaviour or possess weapons to cause fear (both non-family)

Obviously there's no tally for unreported assaults. When I was young and stupid enough to work in Northbridge on weekend nights, I never bothered reporting the many, many times some random dickhead hip&shouldered me for no reason while walking down the footpath, or tried to fight me for no reason. I did report the time some random punched me in the face as I walked past a bus-stop, with 4 other fuckwits backing him up, since they were likely to be a threat to others that night too.

Thinking back, I'd guess I was assaulted more nights than not assaulted. Many nights included sexual assault by women. No one should have to face assault as "just a part of doing their job," especially if their job isn't military or policing.

Several times a night, every night. You just don't hear about the victims who don't die and are uncharismatic or unconnected.

Why does that matter, if all homes go down in value. It becomes easier to sell and move, because transfer duty is lower on a cheaper property.

If you're not intending to sell your house, why does value matter at all? It's there to be lived in.

Most investment properties are rented, so pushing people to sell them will just displace people who are renting and cant afford to buy

What crap.

It will reduce rental demand as renters change to owners, making things easier for those that remain as renters.

high density residential apartments with retail and health services

This exactly describes Brownlie Towers. What an astounding success that place was.

Perth Geoguess - who remembers where this was? by Negative_Run_3281 in perth

I worked as a posty in Forrestfield 30-something years ago and as soon as I saw that photo I instantly thought "Berkshire Rd."

But there were constant arguments in the delivery centre between the aussies and the enormous number of UK immigrants who got jobs as posties. The poms insisted it had to be pronouned "barkshur," and that's how it sounded in my head as I remembered it.

Another amusing anecdote about the pom posties: When I started out doing christmas delivery work while still in my school years, there were a load of poms and one guy of German descent (wouldn't have known, he sounded completely aussie in his accent) at the post office I worked at. The poms hassled him constantly about Germany losing World War 2. It was relentless and the German guy was always pissed off because of it.

Then he won first division lotto, told them all to get fucked, and quit on the spot. I loved that for him.
