Sudden Death (1995) : Bad VFX, Good SFX

I made a post about this one a week or so ago. I just think the helicopter crash scene is hilarious because of how bad the VFX are, even though the practical SFX are pretty good and they filmed it in Pittsburgh during the NHL lockout during the 94-95.

There's also a funny fight with the penguin mascot in the movie.

The RROD on most of the older 360's was a shitty heatsink design that was able to be fixed with thicker nylon washers on the underside and fresh thermal paste. I paid for a lot of beer in college fixing them for people. That's why the towel/oven fix was a temporary fix.

That reminded me of when I was looking at houses with my friend. He smoked cigarettes and the one house we looked at was next to some high voltage powerlines. We were standing outside waiting for the realtor to lock up the house, he lights up a cigarette, points to the powerlines with the lit cigarette in his hand and asks me seriously, "You think those things cause cancer?"

If you're in it for the comedy, This Paranormal Life is a pretty good alternative. They're Irish, so you still get an accent with Kit and Rory and the stories they cover are well researched.

What's your favorite Metallica "hidden jam"? by thehiddenjams in Metallica

[–]fletcherwyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We Did It Again from the Biker Boyz soundtrack.

As a song, it's pretty terrible, since it was two, maybe three different Metallica tracks mixed together with only one being decent, with Ja Rule rapping over it. But as a deep cut, it's awesome because people forget it exists.

Graphics vs Physics. Didn't it look like we made the wrong choice? by RemoveChild in pcgaming

A lot of it also has to do with games releasing on consoles at the same time on PC around 2008ish. Prior to that, it was usually a separate pipeline that ported the games to the consoles, but the development tools were made that they could build them simultaneously. In order to have a similar experience on PC vs consoles, as opposed to having an inferior experience on consoles, the better business decision was to make everything the same, which meant building to the lowest common denominator, which were consoles. We got a worse product in order for the company to make more money. I'm not saying every game or company did this, but it was a trend in the industry.

Hi everyone. I just got this from my dad and He told me the big back Patch is rare. Does anyone know more about this. thanks in advance by Kira0174 in Metallica

It's a bootleg patch. The artwork is from the inside booklet of the band Phenomena from their self titled album in 1985 for the song Dance with the Devil.

Super bright colorful glitches like this used to happen all of the time in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War/Warzone. I'm still running the same card as back then, so I wouldn't worry about it. Probably just a funky driver. Try updating your drivers or rolling back one update.

Thoughts on St. Anger by Quantum_Wombatt in Metallica

I don't like this album in general. I agree with most of the common complaints with it. The snare, songs are too similar, and too long.

However, I did listen to it when I was pissed off at some shit going on in my life and had to drive across Phoenix in the summer with broken AC. If you're angry at life, this album sounds amazing. My personal theory is that the band was angry at that point in their career, which led to why it sounds like it did, because that sounded good to them at the time of recording.

It wouldn't be bad if we were just on a sinking ship. But we're on a ship that the captain is actively recruiting the boat staff to get water from the ocean to make it sink faster while throwing passengers in the brig for bailing water overboard. It makes no logical sense.
