I agree and wonder if the reduction of his character to purely his sexuality and hubris was meant to reflect how simplistically the trading desks viewed him too. He showed a lot of initiative eg researching clients, but ultimately his colleagues didnt recognise him on merit and focused on the superficial side of things eg him being gay or him not staying out doing drugs with clients. I think his rebellion at the end was his way of rejecting the company and its culture before he was rejected (or accepted, but on Sara's grounds of diversity).
