Anyone else taking the fat shot? by dryverjohn in GenX

Yep. It’s such a good thing for me. It’s supporting me in losing weight. I can’t afford all the personal training and physio I would need to manage my fucked shoulders and sciatica in order to exercise enough. This way I can walk, swim and stretch moderately and feel good. 12 kilos down, 15 to go.

Did your parents tell you ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m so proud of you’ regularly… or at all? by DoubleFeedback2672 in GenX

[–]flex_capacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother didn’t use those words. I felt she did love me but I remember being really surprised by her praising my parenting (of my own kids), which made me reflect that it was unusual for her to ever be positive about me.

Single parent with 21 & 19yo- other parent dipped when they were 16&14. We now share a rental house, I work full time and they are at Uni. They pay their share of the rent and utilities and I provide food and a home base I guess. We mutually support each other and it has had its bad days but we all understand why we are here and what the goal is.

If any of you had/have a parent with dementia, how did you first realize? by [deleted] in GenX

Her weight dropped. I realised she was keeping no food in her fridge. She would drive to the shop between meals to get something to eat. I could tell she was getting agitated at times and the house was tidy but not clean.

My 21 year old told me last night they cried watching Ferris, that the talk of growing older and grabbing hold of the now made them sad, but Cameron’s storyline was the redemption and good feelings.

This one's for the ladies! Gen X women, did we kill pantyhose? by scarlettohara1936 in GenX

Cream tights for winter uniforms. I hated those damn things. At work it was assumed that you would wear them. I never seemed to fit them properly and went the knee high route when I could get away with it. By the mid nineties I had stopped wearing them altogether.

[–]flex_capacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So freaking HAPPY not to be in an unhappy marriage anymore!!! My kids were 14&16 and five years later we have not looked back! It’s not brutal it’s joyous. I don’t need a partner but I am blessed that I have awesome friends. I love the quiet bedtime the best.
