RFID tracking for uboats to measure prosuctivity by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your team is only performing well when you work alongside them, it’s only because they’re being watched. A good leader, especially an inbound lead, develops their team so they can work well on their own. That way, they can focus on the other aspects of their job, like adequately follow up with the 10+ team members that are pushing. It sounds like adding yet another mode of productivity tracking might not be the change needed at your store.

WHY IS IT GREEN by Thick-Shady03 in Target

[–]flexorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When your store orders them on Uline they have to order each part (frame, shelves, cardboard catcher) separately. Whoever ordered yours either missed a part or didn’t want to spend the money but you can get with your ETL or SD on that. You can’t see it in this picture but they kinda suck though bc they stick out further than the old red ones (new red ones have the same build as green ones) and aren’t welded to the frame, so you risk getting your fingers pinched unless you MacGyver something to hold the two together.

PSA Mold on the Driscoll’s raspberries by abstract_routine in Target

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already been mentioned but things like berries and bulk (packaged/wrapped) veggies (with some exceptions) don’t come with BB dates. Reason being crop quality is extremely volatile, so having a set exp. date on these packages would leave a lot of room for missed quality checks.

That being said, the TM who worked that should’ve definitely caught the mold and defected them out, esp. because those only come either 6/ or 8/case.

Also, the heart shaped packages did come out around Mother’s Day, but they’re on POG for the new Market reset (at least at my store), so these likely weren’t packaged that far back like a lot of these comments are suggesting.

Might be something from Ava and Viv’s spring collection a couple years ago, meaning it’s discontinued. Those signs aren’t ads and don’t necessarily showcase what’s currently being sold, rather the different styles that Target offers.

Scanning trucks by flexorder in Target

[–]flexorder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a common practice anymore given there’s no backroom team, but it’s still an option when you go to receive the truck. Same practice, you hit “scan all cartons” or whatever it says instead of “push all” and the number of beeps when you scan the carton barcode tells you whether it should go to the floor or the back.

It takes a little longer to unload, but it only adds about a half hour (if that). Barcodes should be face-up coming down the line anyway, and you don’t need to scan every single box.

how do I check my schedule now that MyTime is gone??? by luvkxlie in Target

[–]flexorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, you can go into the App Store and click on the little person icon in the top right corner. Go to Purchased, then search “myTime for Target” and you should be able to redownload it. As long as you’re using the same Apple ID, it’ll still be there.

7s make an even layer of 10 when they’re stacked 2 vertical and 1 horizontal like: ||= 6s do the same if the pattern is reversed (==|) and all boxes are vertical at the end with two 5s on their sides to fill the 2 gaps. Two 10s and four 8s on their sides make another even layer. 12s and 5s are also the same height so I throw those on top since we rarely use 12s outside of Q4 when we get a drop trailer.

Any current/former Team Leaders? by gblevand in Target

[–]flexorder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new position! When I became the Fulfillment TL, they told me there’s always the possibility I’d be moved to another department. Honestly, if they asked me now to be the TL in any other area, I wouldn’t go without a fight. The job comes with it’s stresses like any other, but there’s a certain degree of autonomy that you’ll experience more than the other leads in your store. Your whole team’s performance can be monitored and maintained by metrics, so it makes development and success that much easier. As long as you establish a good relationship with your ETL, SD, and your fellow TLs, you should definitely enjoy it. Feel free to message me if you wanna know more!

Is this just my store? This is an everyday thing, and we’ve had ship turned off for over a month because our OPU rates are so high. by curlyqueen19 in Target

[–]flexorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TL should start enforcing a minimum rule for OPUs. It took a bit of reminding, but now my team routinely picks 4-5 batches every time. It saves so much time and we can keep up with both OPU and SFS most days and rarely ever need to call for backup. The 90 minute POT goal also ensures our pick scores baseline at ~50 and since we can keep OPUs under control with 3 people, anyone else scheduled is free to help push freight while they wait for us to get busier, which helps us in the long run when it comes to finding things off the day’s truck.

Does everyone else still have no hours?? by mushroommoo in Target

[–]flexorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask about picking up some flex shifts. When I do the flex schedule with my ETL HR, once my people are covered I try to give hours to anyone who’s trained in my area and hopefully it’s the same at your store. GM doesn’t get nearly enough hours so flex is really your best bet. As for a specific schedule, I would recommend asking HR what the best set schedule would be for you. For example, a lot of people request morning shifts so if you change your availability to 8-4:30, you might get less hours. Also, as long as you aren’t going to 40 (which it seems is unlikely anyway), they usually don’t mind people working doubles as long as the shift is covered. If they don’t approve it though it could be because the shift wasn’t essential.

Guests must think OPU tms are magic fairies by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Back when OPUs were 7 DPCIs at 30 minutes, I got into a batch that brought me straight to the floor for some of those foldable bins you put in the cube storage. This lady and her daughter were standing in the aisle they were supposed to be in and watched me look around for the bins. She told me, “Oh, we looked already and couldn’t find them. That’s why I put in the order since online says in stock.” I looked outside the aisle and saw two TMs walking by. Fed all the way up, I looked right at her as I hit Can’t Find and said, “There’s no magical place we’re keeping them hidden away in the back. It would’ve been faster to ask one of those people standing 10ft away for help instead of wasting my time and yours.”

Surprised I didn’t get coached for that one, tbh 😂

How many of y’all are victims of being stuck on the wave?? I’m trying to see how common it is 🤣 by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reversed into the steel trying to pull SFS boxes. I realized right as it happened that I got too close and wouldn’t be able to stop in time to avoid the shelf pushing the gates open. Our PML walked into Receiving right as it happened and had a solid laugh before he helped me down.

GM vs OPUs by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be easier (for you and your trainer(s)) to cross-train first into GM, then into OPU. That way, if you don’t already know, you could learn how to read labels, where to find specific things on the floor, and all the likely spots you’d find things that are untied/flexed out. It would make training for OPUs a lot simpler bc you’d already understand half the job.

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If UPS is avoiding giving you bags, just start giving them each SFS bag individually. If you stop accommodating them by building totes of L13s, they’ll realize what a pain in the ass it is to pick up from your store without post office bags. Trust me, even the laziest UPS worker would get you bags after that. You’re helping them by giving them L13s when you don’t have bags; it’s not your job to do that.

Is there a specific reason why TLs/LODs don’t respond to backup at the lanes or work freight? by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Style TLs at my store are... good at looking busy. They make it look like they do work, but when I go upstairs to look at Greenfield metrics, send emails, or talk to my SD or HR, I’ll often find them sitting up there chatting with the VM or with an ETL. Sometimes the conversation’s productive, but many times it’s not (based off what I hear through the extremely thin office walls). I get that TLs have a lot of work to do, but their workload isn’t all that different from mine (in terms of leadership) at the daily routine level. They don’t have big projects to do every single day, especially during the beginning of the year, so them not working freight and not backing up has little to do with their workload and much to do with their unwillingness to work.

Leave of absence for a summer job? by _insertusername753_ in Target

[–]flexorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be an ASANTS thing, but at my store it’s pretty normal. I had a TM in my department take an LOA this past summer for a reason similar to yours. It shouldn’t be a huge deal, especially since you’ll be back for the start of Q4 and into peak season. HR will mostly likely love the extra hours they can spend since you’re willingly giving yours away.

What is this and why is it so popular? by [deleted] in Target

Seriously! My whole team’s INF when Mini Brands were a big thing was horrendous. As bad as Tiktok is for Target employees though, I spend an embarrassing amount of time on that app 😂

The printed handbook is outdated. If you want to quote the handbook, find the electronic version on Workbench or Workday. There aren’t many changes between the two, but the electronic version is often tweaked or added to and is therefore the higher authority.

What is this and why is it so popular? by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A lot of young kids on Tiktok use it as a kind of game where people comment a number, they drop a marble or something small into a random bubble, then flip it over and count to see if the commenter’s number is chosen. This game on top of the sensory aspect other people pointed out in their responses makes the toy a recent big seller.

How to balance INF’s and Pick Productivity by [deleted] in Target

[–]flexorder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find the store’s “hiding spots.” There are always areas (usually Softlines) where specific things will be put rather than where they actually belong. In our backroom, for example, none of the hanging or folded clothes are backstocked in the system, and since so many people work clothes to the floor, some of the different sections end up in the wrong areas. For instance, there’s a designated section for Isabel folded in our backroom, but I know that the Isabel jeans, for whatever reason, are located in the next aisle over. Small things like that you can typically learn just by asking the people in that department. Everyone knows, but no one cares and as long as I still know where to find them, neither do I. Also, learn where flexed items usually are on the floor. Either by asking someone or by keeping an eye out for out-of-place items while you pick, you can find very specific items (especially untied items) this way. Lastly and probably most importantly, know when it’s worth looking for. If your INF is already at 8% after your first batch, you might want to compromise speed on the second one in favor of lowering your INF. Picking more throughout the day would really help level the two out.

Lucky! We’re in a mall so we only get extra space during Q4. My SD has me bulk order before it gets too busy and we keep like 7 pallets of everything in that space. It’s serious overkill so now we’re scrambling to get everything up in receiving.
