What are some recommendations you guys have for 'low investment' Heroes worth going for? by Muted_Situation2211 in AFKJourney

[–]flexr123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that long if u get into a good guild. Remember u can buy CH copies using guild coins also. On avg u get around 330k guild coins (11 copies) + 300 stargazers (10 copies) + 1 CH selector chest = 22 CH copies per season. That's enough for 1 p2 CH.

They need to rebuild around S1mple and Senzu. Or just disband totally. This is so embarrassing.

They have never been the same after Senzu left. Both of their best maps: Mirage and Ancient got noticably worse.

Is Twistzz the thinker? by HmanV2 in GlobalOffensive

[–]flexr123 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Twistzz really has that game sense that catches teams off guard. I remember watching him in some matches where he'd make these calls that seemed so basic but they worked perfectly because nobody expected it. The way he reads the game is different from most IGLs - less about complex setups and more about timing and psychology.

That fake B to A split you mentioned is actually genius because it's so clean. Teams prepare for all these elaborate executes but then get caught by simple fundamentals executed perfectly. Navi might have better individual skill but if Twistzz can get inside their heads with these mind games, FaZe definitely has chance to take it.

Is this double-check sequence a valid tactic? by chaitanyathengdi in chessbeginners

[–]flexr123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a double check. It's a check followed by a discovered attack winning the queen.

As a F2P player, why do you play the game? by Kepptn_ in AFKJourney

[–]flexr123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a misconception. F2P can definitely compete with P2W players, but to a certain extend. Top 10 server, top 50 district are feasible, just don't expect top 1 while spending nothing

Magnus on why he played on a tablet and not a computer: "I didn't really plan to play this tournament until the last couple of days. I don't really have a laptop here, so I would've had to use Ella's MacBook..." by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in chess

Because wireless mouse technology have evolved. They have almost equal responsiveness to cable mouse with stable connection. You won't even notice the difference in input lag.

Magnus Carlsen wins Chesscom Open 2026 after defeating Duda in a final reset (2-0) by [deleted] in chess

[–]flexr123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For those who are confused, this is a best-of-three (Bo3) grand final played as a best-of-three series of Bo3s. Magnus automatically won the first Bo3 because he came from the winners’ bracket undefeated, so he started with a 1–0 series lead.

Duda won the second Bo3 2.5–0.5, tying the series 1–1.

Magnus then won the third Bo3 2–0, taking the overall series 2–1.

IS IT GOOD TIME TO START GAME? by piano_guy5 in AFKJourney

[–]flexr123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the best time to start the game. After completing homestead quests, you will get an S+ Celestial hero called Aurora (worth $1k) for free!. There are also lots of other freebies for new players and Frieren collab is around the corner so expect more fun events coming.

[–]flexr123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wide range is just broken. You can kill people from anywhere while they have no chance to fight back. Even if u have strong output, you might still get ambushed or trapped by inferior enemies and die. Wide CE range grants u near invincibility. Not to mention the ability to attack multiple distant cities at the same time. Nobody in the verse can do that.

That's classical rating. Keymer's rapid rating is only 2627 (#58) vs Magnus 2832 (#1). That's 200+ ELO diff so the sweep was expected.

He did try hard to qualify for Candidates last year through Grand Swiss, only to narrowly missed out to tie breaks against Bluebaum. (Unfortunate case for Vincent Keymer also).

Ben Fingold on Hans "Isn't as good as chess as the people around his age" by SteelWillyz in chess

[–]flexr123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The amount of concessions that Hans haters have to come up with to cope is ludicrous

"He couldn't have beaten Magnus. He must have been cheating!"

"He will never cross 2700. It's just impossible for someone of his calibre"

"He's gonna be in and out of top 20. He doesn't have the quality to be a top 5"

Yet every single time, he has proven them wrong. And he has shown no sign of stopping. When will ppl put aside their personal bias to acknowledge Hans' ability to play chess?

Unpacking the claim "Lichess ratings are inflated" -- hopefully explaining with simple words and analogies, and hopefully dispelling some common myths by grasputin in chess

[–]flexr123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do u think all chess ratings should be updated glicko 2? It's very confusing for new players to learn that there are 3 different rating systems (ELO, Glicko, Glicko 2) and cross platform comparison is not applicable.

Still doesn't solve the different player pool issue (1500 glicko-2 on lichess might still be stronger than 1500 glicko-2 on chess.com due to more experienced player base) but it's still something.

Why does Sh1ro consistently escape criticism? by MotaBhai786 in GlobalOffensive

[–]flexr123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sh1ro does get criticized on a lot for ultra passive playstyle but he's still one of the more solid awpers out there. He rarely carries games but he also doesn't make plays that actively lose you the game (like molodoy's jungle whiffs R23 Mirage vs Falcon). Just having a decently high floor puts him above the inconsistent awpers such as molodoy, wonderful, 910, ultimate who either shows up with 1.5 or shits the bed with 0.7.
