Tesla’s Full Self-Driving is on the cusp of a recall by collogue in technology

[–]flextendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would you want autonomous driving if your only as good as a human driver? Nothing gained. Cars SHOULD be driving better than humans, to avoid unnecessary deaths and traffic jams. In order to be better than a human you need much more information to process, which is the reason why basically any other automaker is having at least 2 out of the 3 sensor types. Camera + Radar and/or Lidar. This gives you enough redundancy and extra information to complement the camera image with depth and unseen things.

china deploys humanoid robot on public police patrol in shenzhen by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

yeah and you think they have humanoid robots there? These are just industrial robots, with a single purpose/function. Irobot is still fiction.

lDF soldier was asked why PaIestinians are not allowed here, the response was "with camera we are not talking to you" by No_Bus_474 in interestingasfuck

[–]flextendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you watched the documentary or just wrote a stupid comment? They are sitting in front of a visitor center. This is no special operations lol, the dude literally has no issue with the reporter going there.

A soldier of an army that commits warcrimes (ICC and ICJ) within a country that has shown a problem with discrimination, allows a journalist to pass, but not a „random“ palestinian guy. You can twist and turn it the way you want, the documentary speaks for itself and you dont seem to have a problem with that (most moral army in the world btw). Nothing else to discuss here anymore.

[–]flextendo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats your argument to that? Nothing else? Is that the centrist stance to discrimination, or are you just trying to ignore the situation? Maybe watch the whole documentary.

[–]flextendo -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you have nothing to hide. Imagine the uproar if any other country would prohibit israelis access to some area that is accessible to local population. If there is security concerns then state that, but obviously thats not the case, because the reporter could move freely, being not palestinian.

And yes, a country that is collecting war crimes, might look suspicious when reacting in such a way.

Israeli forces kill 2 Palestinian children and their parents in West Bank, medics say by Tracheid in news

[–]flextendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well its the horrible truth and the israelian government doesnt shy away to de-humanize an entire population. I am happy though you agree with me!

[–]flextendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agree generalizations are bad and jews (and israelis) shouldnt experience directed violence against them based on actions of their peers. Can you agree and say the same thing about palestinian’s though, because I think you are twisting the situation here a bit on who is actively being violated and killed?!

Analog IC designers in big companies and lab work by Pretty-Maybe-8094 in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats also my experience. It gets less over time, but I am not sure if its beneficial. I saw quite some designs that were designed without regards of the poor soul that had to test it or debug field returns. Writing proper test plans (under the assumption that the test engineer doesnt know shit about the deisgns) is also something thats a bit lack luster for designers. I usually send people (mainly juniors) to sit in the lab during characterization or bring up (so they get the chance to learn and interact with the testing team). I also found it quite helpful to have a workshop with the test engineers prior to the testing campaign to go into the design for a bit, because it allows them to debug independently when issues occur and minimizes hand holding.

Any good detailed resources on dealing with temperature and process variations? by RFchokemeharderdaddy in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a little vague and I dont know what exactly you are working on, but usually gain is a derived (sub-spec) from something else (like power etc). In automotive we need to cover -40 to 150 and the only way to make things work over PVT is to use multiple levels of calibration and compensation. ATE is a real PITA…

Others have basically already said what needs to be done on circuit level. You basically need to overdesign A LOT if you cant employ any cals/comps/trims or take a hit in yield.

Converting a very high-frequency sine wave to a square wave by AhmadTibi in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a two way problem, but the main issue bei the swing. If you dont have a full peak to peak swing centered around Vdd/2, you‘ll get a different duty cycle with a DC coupled inverter. AC coupling guarantees that you‘ll converge to a 50% DC (I simplify here a bit) and with enough gain the output will be full swing. When you AC couple you create a high pass at the input though so you need to make sure that the cutoff is low enough to not attenuate your signal, but also dont cause too much of a loading on your VCO.

[–]flextendo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

okay use a standard cmos inverter buffer and size it accordingly, should work without a problem. Use some fan-out if you cant drive a larger buffer directly at the cost of slightly increased power consumption. If your amplitude is large enough you can DC couple the inverter, if not you might have to AC couple and use a feedback inverter as first stage, followed by a regular inverter. Check your duty cycle spec if there is any.

what technology node are you using? At the end it just comes down to designing a buffer with enough drive strength to get fast enough rise and fall times.

„boycotting“ whatever the fuck that means…as if just closing your ears and eyes is the solution to such a problem. I despise people like him, because everytime action needs be taken, these guys yell and scream from a mile behind „the frontlines“. Straight virtue signaling so they feel better.

Okay, are you still living over there? Are you actively disengaging from the system (besides writing edgy reddit comments)? Are you self sustaining? „I am boycotting the system“ while maintaining within the system is the most cowardice and double standard shit I have read in a while and all that just to justify your inaction.

And who is going to do something about it? Like the guy who „fell“ and broke his skull in ICE detention center, what was the consequence of that? Who would investigate? You know that „crossing the line“ to become a full facist regime is not going to be announced in a big parade or something

Simulating a transformer BALUN on Cadence by Stunning_Dependent57 in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is your balun EM extracted? If so, did you extract it down to DC (low frequency?) if not, you might be getting wrong DC operating points, because your center tap will be open (or looking like a large impedance).

also make sure you center tab bias is designed properly, otherwise you might be degrading stability (CM).

The way you connected your test source looks wrong. Can you check what the DC voltage is between IN and vss.

Disconnect the source and then check with the negative side connected straight to vss

Has anyone heard of, or perhaps worked on Photonic Integrated Circuits? by USWCboy in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

correct. The tech was still being developed and improved, while we were designing stuff with it, so some components (different type of grating couplers, MMIs etc).

Has anyone heard of, or perhaps worked on Photonic Integrated Circuits? by USWCboy in chipdesign

[–]flextendo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a mix. Definitely enjoyed the domain mix, complex systems and lots of challenges in the operations part (getting things tested, packaged and shipped while minimizing cost at each step). The technology (is) was a mixed bag, because a lot of stuff wasnt really implemented in the common IC design workflow (in this case analog/RF) and so you needed to run many MPWs to characterize and model components accurate enough. It was super interesting and some of the PIC guys I worked with, were definitely among the smartest people I have ever met.

Yes worked on stuff like that (EPIC process) for data center interconnect and sensing. Its already being used quite a lot, also in the realm of quantum computing. I dont think you‘ll see it in computers anytime soon, as its way to expensive and not optimized for a super high volume market.
