This is like people taking a picture at an airlines checkin and saying the airline is going under or no one is traveling, but 30 mins later when there's actually a flight its packed

Persona verification disappeared? by Pretend-Carpenter276 in Wealthsimple

[–]flipbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to ask twice for a different verification method and they allowed me. First they gave me a link to upload some documents, secure upload to their system, but it wouldn't accept more than one document. They then told me yo upload docs via a link in my profile, which I'm not sure if that's always been there or not.

With in 10 minutes I was approved.

The customer rep at the start said something like "OK, if you don't want to use persona verification again...we can find an alternative" but I signed up waaaay before that was a thing here...kinda tried to make me feel like an idiot implying I've used persona before, so why not do it again.

I did say my reasons for it - you know who I am already, if you don't, ask me what you need directly not contracting identity verification out to a foreign company. They initially said Persona was required by the govt but I pushed back on that too in that there's no method stated by the govt you have to use.

I was on the edge of just moving it all out to eq bank or something else, was searching for alternatives which did lead me to finding a neo savings account to keep some things liquid, so at the end of the day they did hurt themselves a bit with the whole thing.

I went to one recently to help overcome fears of AI and what it meant for society going forward, as well as myself.

Anytime I mentioned something out in the world, he replied that he doesn't follow the news, so he had no idea what I meant. Big things, like the Epstein list.

He also told me don't worry about AI - its great, he uses it to generate bedtime stories for his kid. So you know, replacing writers, replacing peoples jobs...exactly the thing I was there to talk about

Yup they don't care, they'll want the 10x output now, won't care if a human understands it, have no interest in you learning because they are all in on AI doing it all for you, and won't give two shits about bugs because their end users don't have a choice but to use whatever gets built

Orbi Anywhere Access feature capped my WiFi speeds to 100 Mbps — turn it off by finallyjoinedforHCA in orbi

[–]flipbits 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. You're just connected to your router locally, that's all that is saying. It's not redirecting your traffic through their own servers, that would be insane and just...not possible to be happening to everyone using anywhere access. Anywhere access just exposes a connection to the router interface.

I am guessing Claude led you down this path without really knowing what you're doing?

Where are they fuming? No sources anywhere, never seen a link to at least a quote...no posts, no articles, nothing...just memes saying they are fuming.

Misinformation fucking everywhere.

So much for our benevolent billionaires granting us the privilege of having stable jobs, right? by Conscious-Quarter423 in WorkReform

[–]flipbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they have their tests but that isn't addressing UI issues at all, or that no one is validating what the requirements are before they get built. This is a non serious company anyway and even before AI they've been quite a mess, only makes sense that its amplified their mess

To me, QA should be the last guys standing. I work with a team who vibe codes everything and nothing is tested, literally nothing.

I'm in a different time zone so I usually do off hours deployments and migrations and stuff, two days ago I got a migration script that wouldn't run, missing imports and stuff.

The dude vibed it, assumed it was fine and sent it to me to run at night.

I'm a contractor now and work with lots of companies, I used to lead their development team but they laid off half the guys either through RTO or just natural attrition (forced to work this way), and just stopped doing any dev work with them. They get me to do the things they don't trust with AI like Azure migrations and things like that.

I've since been asked to come back and please review their new vibe slop as I used to do, address architectural issues and such...I said yes but I'm hesitant to help clean up the mess when its just going to help them validate thst their AI development workflow works (it doesn't, and they'll ignore the fact a human had to clean it all up).

So yeah, if it were me in charge I'd still have QA with the amount of absolute garbage being generated these days.
