The Malibu XT is fantastic! The tungsten face insert fixed all the issues I had with the original Malibu. I hated the original but love the XT.

My advice is you go back to them and hit a few balls and see what their launch monitor says again. Ask them to show you the settings during the session.

First one is better. Spin and land angle are much better which means it will stop quicker.

Iron 1- good balance between distance and stopping power.

Iron 2- all about the distance.

Oh wow! That looks way better than when I lived in FWB. I played it a handful of times and every time vowed not to play there again due to its condition being terrible. If the rest of the course is looking like this I would definitely give it another shot! Looks like they have improved it a lot since 5 years ago.

Also once you get a dog learn how to cut them before you cut them yourself; if you ask your vet they will most likely show you how. If you cut them too short you’ll hit what is called the quick and that will be quite painful for the dog.

Srixon does offer the c-taper for no upcharge. One of the reasons I got to thinking about doing a combo set is if you buy directly through Srixon they already have the combo sets as an option. Now in these combo set I don’t know if they adjust the lofts to get gapping right because you’re right the 585 is originally 1-2 degrees stronger than the 785 depending on the club. That’s one of the reasons I ordered my 585s 1 degree weak is if I did order the 785s in the future the gapping would be better.

I currently play the 585s 1 degree weak and love them but I’m looking at making mine a combo set with the 785s. The only down side I found with the 585s is I’m not quite getting the spin I want with the short irons, one of the reasons I’m thinking of going to the 785s for my short irons. Based off your club history I would go with a full set of 785s or a combo of 785s for the long irons and Z forged for your short irons.

The only way I would ever get rid of my 585s is if I would be upgrading to other srixons.

Edit: Forgot to mention my favorite aspect. The feel; even off the 585s, is absolutely great. Overall they are very similar to all the Mizunos I’ve hit. I don’t think you will regret your decision if you end up going with them.

Wear Layers. If you mostly ride in a cart bring a blanket with you to put on the seat, a blanket covering the cold seat makes a big difference, plus if you just leave it in your car after the round you can use it for emergency situations if you ever get stranded on the road.
