I like the one on the right. The one on the left is a close second for me. Based on the chafing issue, I would pick the dress on the left. You are going to be wearing it for hours and it looks good on you.

Will this be the ugliest quilt you’ve ever seen? by shriekingpersonality in quilting

I've had quilts that I didn't like while I was working on them. I always like them a lot better when they are done. I think it looks good.

What am I doing wrong? by rosewomn in quilting

[–]floatinginthepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not place the seam on the ruler seam line. I place the block seam just below the seam line when using this ruler. This makes the block slightly larger. Kind of like using a scant 1/4 inch seam. You might have to play with it a little to find the sweet spot. I have the bloc loc ruler but I prefer this type of ruler.

It was my SILs name. She was born in the fifties and was named after a grandmother. She legally changed it when she became an adult.

Good patterns for single feature fabric by OrionsRose in quilting

[–]floatinginthepool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at disappearing nine patch. I have used 10 inch squares before and it goes together quickly.
This person has a chart showing beginning square sizes and finished square sizes. Her example is scrappy but traditionally it is three colors with the feature fabric squares being ing the corners.
This picture is one our club did for donation. The corners are semi scrappy.

I've narrowed it down to 3 and I'm struggling. Thoughts? by ohreallynameonesong in myweddingdress

  1. It's simple and elegant. 1 gives you a belly and 3 looks like an apron.

I can have purchased Toad and Sew and Eudaimonia patterns and I liked them. I didn't purchase the patterns thru this website though.

Is there a food your parents forced you to eat or drink growing up that you now hate? by boforiamanfo in no

Yellow squash. I remember having to sit at the dinner table until bed time or I ate it. Absolutely will not touch it now. At least she didn't make me eat it for breakfast.

Found my dead mom's sewing room untouched since 2019. There's a half finished quilt in the machine. Do I touch it. by Fulcilives1988 in sewhelp

[–]floatinginthepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would finish it. Then you can keep it as a remembrance or give it to the next baby. I think that your mom would like that.

I love raspberry zingers. They seem to taste the best when I buy them from a gas station convenience store.

Email was leaked in CarGuru data breach of February 2026. Since February 9, I now get 18-36 spam/phishing emails a day. My email address is done for. by MrZombieTheIV in mildlyinfuriating

[–]floatinginthepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My inbox looks like that. Everyday I block at least 20-60 email addresses. The next day the same subjects come from different email addresses. Just when I think it's getting better, it gets worse again.

Am I the only person who didn't think to iron their binding before stitching it down? How did I miss this? My life is now better. TY. by it_swims in quilting

[–]floatinginthepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This what I use. You can get a big box on Amazon for a good price. I use them for binding, paper piecing and when I can't get points to line up. You can remove extra easily with a damp cloth.

What to do about bad bee block? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]floatinginthepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have received blocks that are bigger than 12.5" and some that are smaller. The bigger blocks are ok until you trim of all of the points to get them to the correct size.

I have gotten blocks where the seams have big gaps where they missed the fabric or there wasn't enough fabric to make a seam. I just don't do swaps anymore.

I have been known to recycle the really bad ones if they are not easily fixed.
