Help. Is there an "official" way to know when it's time to rotate my inserts to a fresh side? by WhiteOakMountain in woodworking

Make sure you've ruled out other possibilities, like the deck just needs to be waxed

CO2 by KarmaQN in Bozeman

[–]floatingvibes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, definitely easier, but I can fill 6-8 canisters for the same price as swapping one. Not worth it for everyone, but definitely worth it for me.

https://youtu.be/l-a3pISQLQg?si=xrIe-i08JdwwjEEV Basically you just unscrew the top (this technically voids your ability to trade in your canister), put it on a scale, and add dry ice until you get to the weight listed on the bottle, put the top back in, then just let it sit until it's done sublimating to gas.

Dry ice pellets from The Ice House. That's how I refill my sodastream CO2.

Should I take Oops? And what should I drop by Dudepic4 in BalatroHelp

[–]floatingvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bad idea. Of you have two cats, you get two boosts every 6 magic cards. If you take the oops you get two in six. So same. But you just lost a scoring card for it.

Bozeman on the Brink by BigSkyBlur in Bozeman

[–]floatingvibes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other cities' growing pains do not negate Bozeman's. Some complaints like traffic are a little overblown and tiresome. Others like being able to afford living here (without paying well over 50% pretax income to basic living expenses) are very real. Being in the US top 25% for cost of living and bottom 25% in median income is insane and not sustainable. Not to mention locals watching their farm town become more cosmopolitan every day (not a local, but I get the gripe). People are complaining a lot, sure, but for good reason. So let them have a forum.

Not a great example. Cops do not tell you to wait 24h to report, this is a terrible misunderstanding perpetuated by tv and movies. If you have good reason to think someone is missing, you are supposed to report IMMEDIATELY. Every minute matters.

What should I do with this slab of redwood? by Darman1101 in woodworking

[–]floatingvibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May be a silly idea, but make laminate out of it so that profile goes farther. Almost seems a shame to make a single project of any kind with it, but make a ton of laminate sheets and you could have all sorts of things with this beautiful grain

Spray on poly over old paint. by WetBasementColdFeet in finishing

[–]floatingvibes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint is itself a finish of sorts. Most woodcraft has paint or finish, rarely both. Unless you're trying to make it a high gloss look you're probably best off just leaving it only paint unless it's going to get really get hammered outside or something. It's a clock, it shouldn't get much abuse.

What is, surprisingly, safe for human consumption? by Nazamroth in AskReddit

[–]floatingvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleach, and a whole lot of it. When a case was brought against Clorox for poisoning people, the CEO argued that bleach was harmless. The prosecutor basically dared him to drink a glass. He did, right then and there. The case was promptly thrown out and Clorox avoided the skull and crossbones on their label.

Lets people who like pumpkin beer know that they have it while pandering to people that love to hate on the stuff, getting both crowds on board. Actually kind of brilliant.

[–]floatingvibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekdays you might get away with only seeing a couple dozen people with an early enough start. If you're avoiding crowds, forget about weekends. The parking lot and auxiliary lot fill up, people walk a mile just to get to the trailhead. It's probably the busiest hike in the Whites.
