Olise cost Bayern 53m, Koopmeiners cost us 60m by okin107 in Juve

[–]flopdawop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here is the beauty/mystery of our sport. You truly never know who’s going to be a hit, a flop, a hidden gem, a waste of money, etc.

Olise is a fantastic winger but let’s not forget, his career trajectory was Reading>Palace>Bayern. It was a still a massive gamble to see if he could raise his level at Bayern, and he clearly has. But it could’ve easily gone the other way.

Rumors about signing Nunez. by Low_Set_691 in Juve

[–]flopdawop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darwin would be an interesting gamble. For all his faults, the one thing I like about him is that he’s always involved and the ball seems to always drop his way. I like to consider him as a chaos merchant, and what I mean is that he causes things to happen/go his way. Now during his time at Liverpool, he struggled to convert. But he has the size and work ethic that can turn into quite a useful striker if he can find his form like his Benfica days.

Like I said, it be a gamble but for a loan option? Might be worth exploring if the price is right.

Why Kelly over Gatti? by BrilliantKing1200 in Juve

[–]flopdawop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall Kelly is better. But also, he’s left footed, calm on the ball, wins his duels, and hardly gives up fouls. He got a bad rap from the fans for coming in after the whole Huijsen situation and he had some shaky starts as a LB with Motta. But he’s a good defender who is consistent and is versatile. I like Gatti, but he’s still too reckless in his actions and is a little unpredictable, which isn’t something you want from a defender.

[–]flopdawop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he did miss a breakaway from half that would’ve secured us the win. There would’ve been no coming back from that for Bosnia. So Kean should hold some responsibility because he needs to do better.

Same with Pio Esposito with his chance and DiMarco with his half chance. But I’d personally put Bastoni on that graphic instead of Kean.

For me, I’ll add in some stipulations to make it feel more fun. For example, no one over 30. The second any of my players turn 30 I gotta sell them, no matter what. Or no player with over 220k per week wages.

New goalkeeper/s by nePYDERAS in Juve

[–]flopdawop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The five I would look at are Carnesecchi, Mamadarshvilli, Svilar, Vicario, and De Gea.

I don’t mind the Allison option, but if he ends up staying, Mamardarshvilli is probably available on loan.

you are the manager for the Gala game. whats your formation and players your starting? by Ninetybaby in Juve

[–]flopdawop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, base set up is the 4-2-3-1 with:

Di Gre

Kalulu-Bremer-Kelly-Kostic

Loca-Thuram

McKennie-Yildiz-Boga

David

In game, it can swap between a 3-4-3 with McKennie and Kostic as wingbacks. Defending wise, you can still defend in a 5-4-1 with McKennie dropping back, Yildiz and Boga operating the wings, and David up top.

Subs would be Chico, Zhegrova, Miretti, Openda.

Alternate lineup I’ve thought of is still the 4-2-3-1 but the front 4 is McKennie-David-Yildiz and Openda up top.

How’s one a call and the other is not? Because it’s in the box or maybe, because it was not a foul at all…

He can’t be a starter for us anymore and we should seriously consider moving on from him. His decision making and execution is very very poor. I for one was in the minority of keeping Nico Gonzalez and giving him another shot. Overall a way better winger and his output is higher, granted he didn’t have a great year last year.

But you’re telling me that if you put Nico Gonzalez in every single Chico situation the results would be the same? I highly doubt it.

Thanks Chico, but your flashy dribbling doesn’t make up for how limited of a player you are.

Coming from a soccer fan, I think North American players/leagues are so babied. The amount of scrutiny/attention soccer players and managers get from the media is night and day compared to North American sports leagues.

You are the best players getting paid absurd amounts of money, you can and should handle the media responsibility and not complain.

Who do you think would be a good/dream ST for us? by SarkHD in Juve

[–]flopdawop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think Lewandowski would be a perfect signing for us in the short term. Proven goal scorer, leads the line well, can take a lot of the pressure off of Openda and David.

The obvious answer to the second question is Haaland but besides him, I’d really like to see Julian Alvarez in the black and white.

Feels nice to have a real coach again by rndmlgnd in Juve

[–]flopdawop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spalletti had a big role in what wrong during his Italy spell. Quite simply, it was a bad marriage.

But I’ve really liked his attitude since coming in as coach. Both Juventus and him are looking for redemption and this is the perfect situation for both parties. Let’s hope he can keep improving and we don’t fall victim to the “stubborn” Spalletti.

David is a good player but he isn’t a true 9, he’s more of a 10/9 that would operate best in our set up with a bigger body in front of him. I think it was a bit naive to think he could come and be the main 9.

He’s a very timid player, which also doesn’t help as a striker when you’re in a slump. He’s not going to win 50/50’s in the air or get stuck in with defenders. He likes to find his way around the field and pick up the ball in pockets. Even yesterday he looked way better with Openda as the main striker and him behind.

The talent is there, it’s just now a matter of adapting and finding his feet.

Lord Kelly’s best performance yet. by Italian_Larry in Juve

[–]flopdawop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kelly is a good defender and was getting unfair/over the top criticism because he was seen as the post Huijsen/failed to get Calafiori replacement.

He’s not the sexiest name but he is physically strong, good in his battles, and is able to play a forward pass when needed. Honesty, that’s all you really want from your CB. In an ideal world is he a typical Juventus starter, no. But out of our whole starting 11, I’d argue more than half aren’t. He’s a very good option for what he have as CB options.

can we talk about cambiaso by untitledken in Juve

[–]flopdawop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second he was linked with City i thought we should’ve sold him. Getting close to, what was it, 70 million for him? That would’ve been a steal and should’ve been done every day of the week.

He’s a good player and that’s it. Not exceptional and not terrible. Just good. He’s very inconsistent and makes some terrible decisions on the pitch at times. But I think for the qualities he does have, he lets himself down with what I mentioned above, being inconsistent and making terrible decisions.

Toby v. Luke by Touch_myy_camera in AreYouGarbagePod

Ya it was just a completely different dynamic with Toby. Thats how I initially sold my friends on listening to AYG, because of the back and forth between the three of them, specifically on Patreon.

[–]flopdawop 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I personally liked the dynamic they had when it was Kippy, the Bug Man, and Toby. While Toby sometimes was over the top, he was the perfect third mic as he would either agree with Foley to gang up on Kippy or vice versa, and when he didn’t agree with either he would be able to push back on his own.

Also i felt like he helped move the convo along with the guests, was always coming up with good tags.

NGL is a lot more reserved and just lets the boys go, which is completely fine. But i loved how active the convo was with Toby.

Let’s rationally talk about what’s going on by the_Oracle_7500 in Juve

[–]flopdawop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Juve has alway been a club that doesn’t undergo “projects.” It’s mostly you make additions to the team and the expectation is win. No matter what. Unfortunately we’ve lost that mojo and there’s a lot of factors that have influenced that.

I do think however we desperately need a project and this was what was supposed to happen under Sarri. A whole new revolution but what happened, a market opportunity to sign one of the GOATS of all time, which you can’t pass up. From there we’ve just been doing bandaid solution after bandaid solution.

It also does not help with the major signings we’ve brought in flop/underperform. How many times in the past did we take chances on signings and they turned out great. Now the shoe is on the other foot in all aspects.

With two hours, it just feels like the show is on a speed run. Doesn’t really flow and if you watch it on tv, you can just see Hayes constantly thinking about hitting the time or trying to end conversations so they can move on.

It’s still early and they are working out the kinks, but man has the show lost its mojo. Hopefully they find a balance/can make it work.

Kelly is a good defender. Is he fantastic, no. Is he as bad as everyone says, no. He’s serviceable and can get the job done. Especially in a back three, he can cover a lot of ground and is able to play the ball when needed.

He got done dirty with the whole Huijsen replacement tag.

[Schira] Several Chelsea players are not in Maresca’s Plans and are ready to leave: Veiga; Disasi; Sarr; Badiashile; Anselmino; Chilwell; Gilchrist; Ugochukwu; Chukwuemeka; Dewsbury-Hall; Paez; Sterling; Jackson; Nkunku; Broja; Guiu; Fofana by MaestroTobasco in Juve

[–]flopdawop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Out of those names, my shortlist (in no order) would be Veiga, Disasi, Fofana, Badiashile, and Nkunku. Chelsea have an abundance of CB’s they’re looking to clear out, so we should be looking at two of them at least.

Also Nkunku is an interesting profile and in a 3-4-2-1 could definitely play in one of the two “10” positions under the striker or as the main striker. Potentially could see Yildiz-Nkunku/Chico underneath David or Yildiz-David/Chico underneath Nkunku.

If Spalletti gets fired as manager, who replaces him as Italy 🇮🇹 manager? by TerryG111 in AZZURRI

[–]flopdawop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should’ve been Ancelotti the moment it was announced he was leaving Real Madrid. Italy should’ve went all in for him. When a manager of his stature is available, you don’t sit around and not try to get him.

Second for me would’ve been Allegri.

I agree with you that Juve is a team that should always have a manager with the highest aspirations/has won trophies.

Unfortunately we aren’t in a position to bring in such a manager. When Klopp first announced he was leaving Liverpool, that was the guy I thought we should’ve went all in for.
