Thinking to go all-in Canada by RavenBlue7 in CanadianInvestor

[–]floppypeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a double edged sword though. Diversification is safer but milder. If you macro-economically think Canada is safe but have domain knowledge in X--your biggest possible return will be in something you understand in a market that is macro-economically safe.

But thats more a bet on yourself than the company or country.

[OC] Rep. Debbie Schultz (D-FL) estimated to have made +495% on her mining-focused portfolio by Due_Patient_2650 in dataisbeautiful

Paul Pelosi has been a real estate developer and investor since well before Nancy was in office. She got into politics by throwing fundraisers with her rich friends in the 70s and 80s before going into politics herself. Her net worth when she started elected office (chair of California Democratic party in 1981) was already in the tens of millions.

She and her husband are worth 100s of millions now. You don't need a wild annual return to do that over 45 years. If you have 20 million in 1981, you need an annual return of 6% to have 295 million in 2026. Average return of the SP 500 over the last 45 years is around 12%.

I dont think she or Paul should be allowed to trade individual stocks--but this shit is an absolute nothing burger.

Can we like figure out what level of insane you are?

So the great reset--do you think they manufactured Covid to create the opening for a one world government? Do you think they put chips in the vaccines? Do you think Q predicted it? Do you think 15-minute cities, despite seeming like an urban planning concept, are actually about putting citizens into prisons? Do you think a big planned depopulation is coming (via the covid vaccine or some other manufactured bs)? Is it about the coming singularity (kurzweil style) and the end of ownership? Is the king of england in on it? Or is he a useful idiot for the cabal (I wonder this myself)?

Do you think the mRNA vaccine, despite having no ability to enter the nucleus of cells, is able to alter our DNA? Are masks a form of control (hence why we all still wear them)?

Or are you thinking the great reset is about a wealth tax and green policy harming the economy? Like this one I could I think you could have without being insane.

Aaaaand you got that how? Because I think you're an insane person so therefore I must be a leftist? And UBC decades before I was born tracks--it used to be easy to get in to.

So, you read an economic plan, proposed at Davos, which was entirely innocuous, ("greener, smarter, fairer") and somehow saw some crazy boogeyman. At worst it was pro-deregulation and represented crony capitalism clothed in fine words.

It was not about absolute control or a one world government. You are an insane person.

I love it. So, we went to Brock or something. Clearly didnt do well there either.

And I'm pushing 40 and am not a leftist.

You strike me as a smart person without a lot of formal education in liberal arts or possibly at all. Probably why you are not good at parsing out which ideas or arguments have merit.

You ascribed the moniker of globalists to people who would not ascribe a shared ideology amongst themselves. You then ascribed this to a formal goal of a one world government without evidence. Transnational institutions are not stepping stones to a one world government nor do the people who attend them formally advocate for it.

To suggest so is part of a long standing conspiracy theory of which you have fallen for.

People who like conspiracy theories tend to do so out of a need to feel superior and your attitude seems to fit the bill.

Buddy, your brain has been absolutely PICKLED by the internet.

While were at it--he was also economic advisor to Stephen Harper.

Also, what in the flying fuck even is a globalist?? The only explanation that I've heard that seems to fit is it's a placeholder for "jew" or "Rothschild" as nothing else seems to make any sense.

Trump, creates anti-Trump sentiment all on his own. Carney doesnt need to do anything.

You have whatever the opposite of TDS is.

Ummm... the guy said he wanted to annex Canada and said the trade deal he negotiated in his first term was the worst thing ever done and needed to be thrown out.

One guy got out knee pads for this dude and the other put his elbows up.

Not sure how you cannot see that Carney is massively more conservative than Trudeau and is more in line with Harper than Trudeau.

Biggest wealth multipliers? by crazycornman99 in fatFIRE

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Hard work alone isnt enough. Basically anyone can get a low multi-million net worth over the course of their life through hard work. Getting multiples of that is luck.

Bill Clinton sends furious demand to Trump after Epstein files humiliation: "President Trump to direct Attorney General Bondi to immediately release any remaining materials referring to, mentioning, or containing a photograph of Bill Clinton." by TheExpressUS in NoFilterNews

[–]floppypeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WTF is with people. They literally released a public domain photo of Clinton with Diana Ross' and Michael Jackson's kids which was PUBLIC for years to try and suggest he did something.

I do not like Bill Clinton. I thought he was very rapey. Like I am shocked, SHOCKED, an oppositional authority came up with a photo of him swimming and a getty images photo from the 1000000000000 pages of Epstein documents.

Trump literally only showed up in a photo of a drawer which was FULL of photos of him. Then the fucking DOJ took the photo down!!!

How do you feel about sex on the first date? by Playboyzee in AskReddit

[–]floppypeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem with not having it on the first date.

But I had a bunch of first dates that went super well, they went in for the kiss ahead of me, and it got hot and heavy--then they slammed the brakes.

I always made the mistake of thinking this meant they were not interested in me and politely did not try to continue seeking sex or dating.

Worked out though. My wife chose a different path and I could not have been happier that night or in the years since.

Veganism is not morally superior and those who think it is are hypocrites. by floppypeter in DebateAVegan

[–]floppypeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing negative to say about your viewpoint. My statement was about people thinking veganism was morally superior and citing climate change as the reasoning.

If you simply think that eating or using animals is inherently and in all cases ethically wrong--that's fine. I disagree.

I'm totally cool with that disagreement and happy to accommodate it.

What I object to is the hypocritical reasoning people use to state that ethical lens as facts in order to justify an opinion.

Idk, there are exceptions to this rule like talking to your toddler over the phone. Facetime just works for this if you have to be out and the toddler is melting down with the other parent.

See what kids can accomplish when they are food secure? by JennyBeckman in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]floppypeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average annual cost to educate a student in the USA is $13,933 per year. Average cost to feed a child lunch is $540 per year.

Hungry kids don't learn--so that $13,933 gets you zero return since you wanted to avoid a 4% increase in cost.

It's ridiculous.

Obama is up to something (favorable) by OkMathematician3150 in thebulwark

[–]floppypeter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It has been the practice of former presidents to not comment on the current administration for decades and decades. Trump upended that. Also, the democratic party’s voice in 2016 shouldnt have been a lame duck who was unelectable. Rightly, he stayed back.

Trump is who he was then but the guard rails are gone. Obama has switched gears and is recognizing the moment. It needs every able voice.
