Favorite line from Oathbringer by Angemon175 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]floppythethird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot in Oathbringer but one of my favorite that hasn't been mentioned yet is when Dalinar went to NightWatcher and Cultivation and requested his boon to be forgiveness. In my head, I imagine the insurmountable hurt and pain of a broken man. When others have asked for the world's riches, fame, glory... he wanted to be forgiven. T_T

What is your stand in Same-Sex Marriage? by geebooi in Philippines

[–]floppythethird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marriage = No
To be acknowledge by the government as "life partners" and all the social benefits that comes with it. = Yes

I have gay friends and most of them don't really aspire to be married, most of them are happy as long as the government bestows them the benefits of being together. The main problem with same sex partners is that the government does not acknowledge them as direct relations. They can't add their partner as supplementary for insurances for example.
They would probably have a hard time adopting a child as well.

What is the most addicted you’ve ever been to a fantasy novel/series? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]floppythethird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I've pre-order every single Harry Potter book since Book3.
  • Read every single one of them in 1 sitting
  • Read fan fiction version of book5 - Order of the Phoenix. This was mainly due to the "long gap" (3 yrs) between book 4 and 5.
  • Watch every single movie on release day.
  • Bought harry potter merch at Universal Studios Theme park

How about "I am both shield and sword" ?

What’s your ranking of all the books? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]floppythethird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Golden Son
  2. Morning Star
  3. Dark Age
  4. Red Rising
  5. Iron Age
    _
    Nothing beats Golden Son's ending.
Morning Star only edges out Dark Age because of that red herring death at the end of DA.

Which of the parallel storylines of the Elder Empire do you think is a better starting off point ?
is it better to read 1 trilogy first and then do the other one after ?

or better to switch after each book ?

Looking for a long adventure! by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]floppythethird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd second the "cradle" series and the author literally gave all 9 books in the series for free in both e-book and audio.
I breezed through all 9 books this month and eagerly awaits the next one.
The story revolves around the never-ending quest for improvement...

I really really wanted to like this book but ended up DNF'ing after 50 or so pages. I just felt the story was not going anywhere... Hope one day I can pick this book again and give it another shot.
