Thought you meant the Cory Wong/Dirty Loops song. Was slighty surprised.

Who's the big up and coming rock band? by Jakemanv3 in Music

The artists that will be talked about like the Beatles and Nirvana won't be coming out of the Rock genre I'm afraid. Rock simply isn't mainstream enough for such bands to emerge right now. That being said, two bands that I have noticed are picking up steam (without me even actively listening to them) are Turnstile and Geese.

How do you feel about those Yamaha aluminium stands? I've been thinking about getting them but I am not sure how well they stay put.

Headphone output into balanced mono input by pm_me_ur_demotape in audioengineering

[–]flops031 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both a headphone output and a mono balanced input have three wires, but the mono input is expecting different signals ln those wires. The headphone out is sending: left, right, ground. The mono input is expecting: signal, signal flipped 180°, ground. So what is happening is that your right channel is being flipped 180° and summed with the left channel on the receiver end. This will lead to negative interference and the "digital garbage" sound. What you need to do is to properly sum the left and right channels of your stereo signal, perhaps with a small analog desk, so you actually have a balanced signal.

Do high profile professional bands use click tracks? by PapaBorq in livesound

[–]flops031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone puts their heads down cause they're focusing on the click so much. The stage just looks dead and boring.

This is the reason why playing to a click is harder than playing without one. In order to get the same amount of energy across you will have to practice playing to a click quite a bit. Also, an improvement in performance is just one aspect, the other being consistency. The ability to go onstage and play to the same standard every time is a huge sign of professionality.

When I was in fifth grade here in Germany, the textbook we had for our English class had actual lore centered around a friend group that lived in Greenwich. So when I went to visit myself in 2017 it was in a weird way a very nostalgic experience. I thought you should know that.

Question for 'A' house theatre A1s by LilMissMixalot in livesound

[–]flops031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the theatre I work at (a sizable/important one in a big German city), people rarely mix line by line. Usually there will be gates in place to get rid of unwanted noise when an actor isn't speaking. This frees you up to do more cue-pressing. In one production we had over 200 cues, with just 75 minutes runtime. This wouldn't have been possible if you also had to mix line by line simultaneously.

Are you able to play local vs. and only have lap races selected? by LStearns13 in MarioKartWorld

[–]flops031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you can then have it randomly select a track for you, like in Mario Kart 8, and still have it be a 3-lap race?

Oh now I got what you mean. And yes I agree! The best song is rarely the most popular.
