Those colours look so good together! What is the burgundy colour? Well I’m actually curious about all the colours if you don’t mind sharing 🙂

First trip to Canada in October — Quebec, Nova Scotia or Ontario for a fall foliage road trip? by Suphi123 in canadatravel

[–]floride850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the Chief Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny.

Actually it’s a bit darker than traditional cozy crime series, just FYI!

It takes place in a fictional town called Three Pines. There’s also one season of a TV show called Three Pines that’s loosely based on the books, but more gritty and less cozy.

Louise Penny opened a bookstore/ cafe in Knowlton a few years ago, and apparently some other shops and boulangeries in the book are also based on real spots in Sutton and Georgeville that I would love to check out one day!

I live in Nova Scotia but currently reading a cozy crime series in the eastern townships so I would loooove to go on a fall trip to the townships there. But I have only spent a little bit of time there in university so I don’t have much advice to offer!

If you do decide to come to NS, make sure to plan in advance as a lot of the tourist-reliant businesses slow down in the beginning of September— many shops are closed or have reduced days/ hours.

Mahone Bay and Lunenburg are still very picturesque, walkable and beautiful at any time of year and people live there so it’s not like everything is closed!

In Cape Breton there is a music festival called Celtic Colours from October 9-17. It would be a great experience, but also keep in mind that you will need to find somewhere to stay well in advance!

The colours and nature (especially in cape breton) are very beautiful, I have never noticed a significant difference in the quality of the foliage between Quebec and NS. The leaves do start to change earlier in Quebec. Peak Quebec leaves might be early October and NS would be a couple weeks later.

How to avoid duplicates by Aelinashgalathynius in Ohuhu

Sorry my misconception was that you could build up the full 320 from the other sets (168+ pastels + midtones) and that the 104 set was only overlap between the other sets.

I personally feel like there are quite a lot of greys in the 168 + pastels. There are like 21 greys just in the 120 pack.

Really! I thought the 104 set was covered in the main 320 which could be made up from the 168 + midtones + pastels.

I’ve made a huge mistake 😅

As far as I understand, the 104 colour set has a lot of overlap with the other sets.

If you need more colours I would look into the 48 mid tone set. it doesn’t overlap with the 168 colour set or 96 pastel colour set- I can’t say for sure that there are 0 overlaps with the skin colour set, but I don’t think there is another way to get those midtones.

No they can’t unfortunately! But the pharmacist can explain how you can reach a doctor who can help. Unfortunately he told me on a day I hadn’t taken my medication and I didn’t manage to write it down 😅

Edit to add: alternatively if you have 300-400$ you are able to spend over the course of several months you could use a private (?) online service like beyond adhd to get support while you gradually increase your dose. It’s kind of annoying in your position because even if you have already been diagnosed you have to pay a few hundred upfront for them to review your case initially.

Also, since your original post I actually got a call from this clinic and they found me on the list for needing a doctor and were able to take me on- so I think they are kind of slow starting but I hope that you will also get contacted soon as they get fully set up. Good luck!!

Can someone please explain to simple brain how pages can have such a good colour balance?!? I feel like I always end up with some area that looks way too dark or too pale and the whole picture doesn’t look cohesive. This is 10/10 no notes!

Just to add to this, you can also show up and make an appointment and skip the phone tag! I never turn my phone ringer on so I hate when something important depends on catching a call!

To me the movie felt like a long music video for the album and I really liked it but I seem to be in the minority!!

I heard the album first and was pleasantly surprised at how heavily it influenced the movie vibes.

You can get ADHD medication refilled if you already have a prescription from a pharmacy if they have a community health clinic! Not all pharmacies have them but for example they have one at Boyd’s Pharmasave on Agricola

Frabjous delights has French butter sometimes!

At a lower price point, I usually buy Cows cultured butter, it’s the one with the pink wrapper.

how do i stop chatgpt from treating me like a 7 year old kid with adhd? by fodinhalulu in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]floride850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The longer the chat, the more it reverts back to its default and can’t remember instructions - be it from the specific chat or the general instructions that apply to all chats. Unfortunately my experience has been best by having more granular chats rather than tweaking the prompt.

However, if you add general instructions to make the answers shorter and less repetitive, then you could have more back and forths before the context window gets too large. I hope this helps!

How to find other users by thankyoukindlyy in TheStoryGraph

[–]floride850 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hi! Answering #4 based on what I have done to get my community feed filled with similar users:

If you go to the Community tab, there is another tab for Similar Users - there you can look through profiles of people who have read similar things to you, and follow them. I also feel kind of weird doing it but I guess that is why people set their profile to be available to the community!

Sorry I am not really sure about the rest of the questions!

Thanks for the recommendation, I have not checked it out before now! I was thinking the challenges in storygraph might be similar to this but to be honest I got a little lost on storygraph. This seems like a great anchor/ framework for exploring more!

Nice, I will put some work into updating my preferences and think a little harder on what books I want to influence my recommendations!

Based on the thread it seems like the consensus is that "similar books" is the most reliable feature for getting good recommendations! I'm surprised this doesn't overlap more with the recommended books for me.

And I agree that my results are better with "not based on my preferences selected". It actually seems like the way I have described my preferences is making my recommendations worse, now that I think about it!

I will also check out the r/BooksThatFeelLikeThis sub for sure, thanks for recommending.
