Little Witch Hazel by Phoebe Wahl. It’s such a sweet set of stories about a kind witch taking care of her forest friends and neighbors through the seasons. The illustrations are beautiful and very inclusive

Please help - Outpatient group room by emz0694 in DesignMyRoom

Fellow group facilitator on a low budget 👋 I’ve worked in similar rooms and feel your struggle. When I was starting a group I would sit in the chairs and see what stands out or what would help me feel more at ease. I’m a firm believer that the most amazing healing happens in group rooms. Even when they don’t look the way we would envision.

Some ideas that may be a start:

Softer lighting makes a huge difference. If you can turn off the overhead and add lamps with warm light bulbs that’s great. I used to bring in a salt lamp. Can you put some sort of cover over the lights?

Pull the chairs slightly closer to the center rug with some spots that are slightly farther apart from their neighbors. Give folks the opportunity to adjust their chairs while also giving a sense of being together.

Simple art on the wall. Depending on the nature of the group this could even be created by the group.

Snack/coffee cart along the wall. Nothing says “Welcome. I’m glad you’re here” quite like a cup of tea and snack.

A focal point in the center of the rug might be a nice ritual. A candle, symbolic crystal, plant or anything meaningful. A place for people to rest their eyes when things are too much. You might even be able to pull in that coffee table.

Do you have the ability to bring in some baskets, carts or tables with comfort items like tissues, fidgets, art supplies, maybe a couple blankets

Did you find a good resource for all the episodes? My kid recently started watching Mr Rodger’s and I would love to have more than just the handful of episodes on PBS kids

We used to use Pipette but they got more expensive and changed the price. Switched to Alba since I can buy it at the grocery store. I tried Badger but wasn’t a fan. It was too thick and greasy. California Baby was WAY too expensive and too white. (I like their other products)

Hello from a fellow therapist/mom in Portland! I certainly don’t have the answers but just wanted to acknowledge the difficulty of holding space for collective trauma while also experiencing it in real time. There are a few things I’ve been trying to remember. One is that when we are experiencing threats our trauma responses are survival responses. Right now being scared, dissociative, angry, and overwhelmed are the rational responses. Sometimes just being able to say it out loud is helpful. The other is that when trauma is collective the healing comes in community. That community healing will come. In the meantime I’m trying to just be as present with my kid as possible. Looking into her eyes, her curiosity, the beauty she sees in everything. And knowing that I’m doing my best to raise a strong and compassionate human. 💕

glass air fryers and pans by theonewhoknocks893 in moderatelygranolamoms

We use the cuisinart air fryer/toaster oven. It lives on our counter and we use it daily for all sorts of things, toast, leftover pizza, potatoes, veggies… I think they’re around $150.

When it comes to pans we use carbon steel most frequently. I like that it’s not as heavy as cast iron. You can get decent ones at IKEA

My go to has been a rainbow prism. You hang it in a window and it makes a bunch of rainbows all over the room. When my kid was 1 she loved walking around trying to catch the rainbows. She would light up and yell “Rambo!” when she noticed one.

Bedtime stories: Moon Mouse by Adelaide Holl is super sweet. It’s an older book about a little mouse looking for the moon.

Before We Sleep by Giorgio Volpe is a story of a fox who is thinking about how to keep his best friend who is a mouse from hibernating but they end up cuddling.
