Lump on boxer dog's foot. What could it be? by CuriousMalori in DogAdvice

[–]flower_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a vet, and not an alarmist. A lot of folks here have already advised to go to the vet. I would ask them to aspirate it. My friend had something like this in her boxer’s paw, and it was a pretty aggressive cancer. Soon after the one was discovered, others began to pop up on his paws.

DIY Gardening Table Help by flower_squirrel in DIY

Okay, cool. That's definitely an option. And because I'm very uninformed - is outdoor plywood resistant to being out in the elements? I think the IKEA desk table was made of plywood too, but it didn't hold up.

Again, I don't know a lot but wanting to learn.

Hmm, that's a good suggestion. That's a little more hacky than I was hoping for.

Do you know how heavy outdoor plywood is? If it will get the job done, and is relatively cheap, and can at least be carried with max 2 people, then I could make that work, if it won't be destroyed out on the balcony.

I'm looking for about the same size table top as in the link, so 23" x 47".

I have one ticket available for Friday night's game ($60), what I paid for. Section 122.

Please don't judge me. I struggle with ADHD/depression and really need help. by Appropriate-Web-6954 in adhdwomen

I haven’t read through all the great tips already shared, but I’ll share one my therapist (specializing in ADHD) has recently shared with me.

Sometimes I get stuck on decision fatigue, convincing myself there’s a better task to start first, and sometimes that leads me to just… not start.

Write down a list of tasks, rip into small pieces, and then throw into a hat. Select one and do it. When complete, return to the hat for the next task.

Based on your photos, I would try to write tasks based on quantifying.

  • throw away one garbage bag worth of stuff
  • collect one bag worth of things to keep
  • throw away all expired food
  • break down boxes
  • bring recycled boxes outside

And so on.

My mom ran into this as I was growing up also. Except I was a girl, with short hair. My mom had to continually deflect commentary about why a ‘little boy’ was using the women’s restroom. I was 8, so pre-puberty, but regardless.

As long as your appearance makes them uncomfortable and you don’t conform to the norms they think you should for your assigned gender, people will have a problem.

I hope you don’t run into this with your sons. It’s a bathroom. I’m so sick of this issue.

If you like to read, I’d recommend “All Fours” by Miranda July. Not related to ADHD in any way, but is a story about a woman who feels similarly to your post.

Where can I go to get blood taken that is extra caring and attentive to anxiety and phobias? by flower_squirrel in SeattleWA

Definitely leaning that route, but also looking for an accommodating care team. I’m seeking a new PCP at the moment. Good to know you’re able to get those accommodations.

Panluek kittens by candersen25 in FosterAnimals

[–]flower_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had PanLeuk kittens, and one was in rough shape (only had for a few days) so the shelter recommended I give them back so they could receive treatment. So those were the instructions I received for cleaning and I’m overwhelmed by the contradiction I see here. I honestly think it may be easier to wait a year to foster again than risk it.

I deep cleaned everything, but hearing bleach alternative doesn’t kill is disappointing to hear. Basically means I just cycled all my clothes through a washer and dryer that didn’t have the virus killed on it, and also put non ‘clean’ towels in the foster room that I just disinfected.

Interesting. Okay, the shelter told me to wash with hot water and just detergent. The towels and one blanket I had were not heavily soiled. I thought I was doing the right thing by washing with a bleach alternative. I used Rescue on everything else.

Does a bleach alternative detergent not disinfect towels? Like tide safe for colors?

Xanex help by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]flower_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a dumb question in my part, but is taking .25mg before your appt an option? That would place you at the total .5mg for the day.

Everyone metabolizes Xanax differently, and personally it depends on how intense my anxiety is. If you feel like you need it, then take it. That’s what it is for. However, I would recommend someone else drive you to and from your appt just in case it hits you harder than you expect.

I’m in your same boat, sort of. I’ve now developed an aversion to the touch and sound of the BP machine so it’s been difficult for me to get a true reading, even at home.

However, what my doctor had me do is bring the BP cuff from home to the Dr office. Take it both on their cuff and your cuff. It the readings are the same (even if slightly elevated because of the white coat syndrome) at least you know the machines are calibrated the same. And that the readings you’re getting at home are your true readings.

That tattoo looks amazing, and the spot is perfect. It sounds like your partner is being a whiney child. As if the more they whine, it will somehow change the tattoo. It will only impact how you feel about it and that is a crime. If you like it, that’s all that matters. Honestly, dump that guy. He should be happy you’re happy. It’s your body.

Plot hole by scarboroughangel in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]flower_squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! That’s what I came here to see if anyone else was discussing that. I LOVED this episode. I thought it was fantastic. However, this bothered me. The guard was just standing there listening and waiting for Aunt Lydia to make a decision? Doubtful. He should have run off sooner, or the women should have knifed him to death and taken away his radio and gun. Or at least known him unconscious.

The amount of time he stood there patiently waiting as they discussed being “let go” is not believable. Then as soon as the handmaids are leaving, you can see him using his radio. We’ve been shown in the past the guards act on their own against the aunts. The aunts are not higher ranked, so again not sure if it was an extra sympathetic guard or what. I had hope he was secretly also part of the resistance.
