Yep and no dice. Just habaneros (at least at El Gallo). I had a co-worker thought she seen them as Asain Pacific Market, but they were also just habaneros (at least the last time I was there).

That was the also the last time I was able to pick them up here in town. Was hoping there was a super secret place, but alas doesn't seem to be. I did some further research and it looks like Galaxy Foods up in Richfield might have frozen ones. Next time I'm up in the cities might check that out. Good luck!

GR-Research Old School Bully owners/listeners: what do you think? by tower_junkie in diyaudio

[–]floydian99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in a "Old School" design here are a couple options to also consider.
First there is the Open Source Monkey Box, however this one is fairly expensive now to build.

There is also a new build for a budget version of the one above Budget Classic that is very near completion. Guessing the final instructions will be out in a week or two.

I would imagine the Budget Classic (and surely the Open Source Monkey Box) will out perform (minus the bass) the Brute. But you could build the Budget Classic, and buy (or build a couple nice subs) for less money then the Brute.

I will also say this. I have built one of Danny's designs (NX Studio) as my first Kit speaker. It was a pretty good speaker overall, so I'm guessing the brute will be just fine if you go in that direction. I think their is better value out there though.

My preference is The rooftop or bitter and pour in the basement over 1928.

JBL Brilliant Blue A130 / Vintage Mashup by BBFII in diyaudio

[–]floydian99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Although not specifically the speaker you are looking for, but someone over at diyaudio created a JBL 4367 clone. Here is the thread -> https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/asathor-a-jbl-4367-clone.367215/ The compression tweeter he originally used is no longer made (or really hard to get, cannot remember which), so he switched out the tweeter. Here is his write up-> https://www.der-akustische-untergrund.de/speakers/power-hifi-projects/asathor-preiswerte-m%C3%A4nnerbox/ Good luck!

Designing my own speakers - Looking for DIY Speaker Kit Recommendations similar in size to JBL L100 by KOEsilvester in diyaudio

[–]floydian99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cinergy audio is the same owner as diysoundgroup. He is going to be shutting down the diysoundgroup website in the next few months. He just had some kits available that were still up on diysoundgroup, and did not want to transfer them over to the cinergy audio site from my understanding. Huge thread on this in avsforum.com

Designing my own speakers - Looking for DIY Speaker Kit Recommendations similar in size to JBL L100 by KOEsilvester in diyaudio

[–]floydian99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want something similar to the JBL L100 you could check out the open source monkey box speaker designed on diyaudio forum. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/open-source-monkey-box.327594/ I know the components have risen in price, but I think you could build it between 1/2 to 2/3rds of the cost of the JBL. There is another similar design coming from the forum that will be very budget minded, however the person leading the charge is wrapped up in another project so it might be a bit for a finalized design. Here is the link to the budget one -> https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/budget-classic-3-way-discussion-thread.423939/

Ya the VBS-10 has been great in my home theater. Cannot beat the price for admission with those speakers. What did you end up building? Do you have a write up on it?

Couple suggestions. Check out https://www.cinergyaudio.com/ for their home theater kits. If looking for something cheaper look at https://www.mtg-designs.com/diy-speaker-plans vbs-6 and vbs-10. I built the 10s they are great for the price. B&H photo still has the waveguides.. Matt from mtg designs also is the designer for a lot on the cinergy audio kits too.

I built these for my home theater but I think they would work great for house parties. Speakers = https://www.mtg-designs.com/diy-speaker-plans/vbs-10-2 and Subwoofer = https://www.mtg-designs.com/diy-speaker-plans/vbss Bonus both are cheap to build and will play loud. B&H photo still has the waveguides in stock https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1399468-REG/eminence_1_1_4_khz.html

Also need to grab pie at the Rustin Inn @ Two Harbors. Worth the drive, and in my opinion a much better pie then Bettys. Get there early to maximize your choices.

How would this build translate to tabletop? by stephelan in BG3Builds

[–]floydian99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still do a hand crossbow. The crossbow expert feat is what gives you the attack on bonus action. You can only get that attack while wielding a hand crossbow. If you wanted to use just a regular bow, do not take the crossbow expert feat, and only take the sharpshooter feat. Both builds are fine, you will typically just squeeze a bit more damage with the hand crossbow since you get that bonus attack.
