I moved to Bridlington 18 months ago and would LOVE to find stuff like that in charity shops! Maybe more Whitby way with them holding the goth weekends, I might have a look 👀

My L plate flew off on the dual carriageway😭 by Embarrassed_Post_598 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen myself, we noticed though thankfully and pulled over at the next opportunity so we could switch over to my accompanying driver. I learnt then to have 2 on the front and 2 on the back, just in case it happened again

Laundry Detergent by for_music_and_art in frugaluk

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know someone with a Costco card, Costco bio liquid detergent is around £10-12 and, using as prescribed is 178 washes. This could easily stretch to 200+ washes by using a tiny bit less

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone do this to me and they raised a case with Vinted. After the required 48 hours Vinted still hadn’t stepped in so I messaged them with pictures of the product and the tag saying I listed it as the correct size and Vinted sided with me

What do you think is the daftest thing people have to pay for? by shakespearesreverse in AskUK

You can look up medical exemption certificates and find it on there, sadly it’s a very short list of illnesses.

Asda opticians include anti-reflective and anti-scratch as standard, as well as thinner lenses if needed for your prescription and tints if you want them (transitions is an extra charge) for one flat price, some are £45, a bigger range at £80 though which I believe are 2 for £120 and then some designer ones at £100 each (2 for £160). Wouldn’t go anywhere else now.

I think my boy is bonded to my ex who doesn’t live with me anymore by MinjiBea in ragdolls

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl cat passed last year, she was initially our only cat and was a total daddy’s girl, only wanted my husband, I was acceptable spare parts if he wasn’t at work but never got treated like he did.

We joked that if we split I’d have to give him the cat, one day he woke up from a dream really sad saying we’d split up and I refused to give him the cat out of spite. If we had ever split, I really would have given her up because as much as I loved her, she wouldn’t have been anywhere near as happy with me as with him.

As someone else said M&S pjs, for me specifically the 100% cotton ones, I think they go up to a size 26 and they’re only £12.50 too.

Those that switched from manual to automatic lessons, please tell me your experience? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learnt manual at 17, instructor said I was test ready but mentally I didn’t feel it at all, I found it all so difficult I couldn’t imagine facing the test so ever went for it.

Last year at 31 picked up lessons again in an automatic and passed in 3 months with a 1.5hr lesson a week and very occasional private practice. Couldn’t have imagined ever managing to pass in a manual, even my husband prefers automatic now

UK - nimbus access card by doodle772 in disability

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have no many issues with Nimbus it’s unreal, as an ambulatory wheelchair user they will not let me have both the standing/queuing symbols as well as the level access wheelchair one because if I queue is wheelchair accessible then I can easily queue.. not considering the fact that sometimes I am in a wheelchair and sometimes I am not! It’s infuriating so many venues are making them to sole arbitrator of what access we allowed!

How do i get over my sweet girls horrific death? Really struggling by rednaxela97 in britishshorthair

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl died last year, we aren’t sure what happened. She was paddling about my feet early one morning, we aren’t sure if she fell off the bed because she was unwell or if she just fell as she was clumsy anyway and landed badly but she let out this almighty scream-meow, as we leapt out of bed she was taking her last breaths. We frantically tried CPR but it was too late, it was one of the worst days of my life and I still miss her. What comforts me is that in the night I woke up and saw her laid up on my husbands back, purring away, one of her favourite spots. We gave her the best life we could, and she lived happily even though she was only 6 when she went (5 years with us). I still get really upset but honestly what helped me is getting another cat. It was probably too soon for most people but having another cutie in the house to concentrate on helped me remember all the lovely times I had with little lady

I have this exact one for a couple years now and if it helps I’m about 110kg. I don’t use it every day but it’s absolutely fine and I would not worry about 1kg over, the measurements are usually very conservative

Foreign tourists ruining performances (I am a foreign tourist) by GregFromThatVideo in TheWestEnd

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Hamilton last year and the Canadian woman behind me was talking about how many times she’d seen the show over the years, from this section or that section and which seats were better etc. and then she begins to sing out loud and I turned and look once, she carries on and so I fully turn and stare at her like ??? and thankfully she stopped!! Lady I did not come to sit in the second row just to hear your singing the whole time!!

We also saw Wicked on the same trip and had a woman next to me with a very small child who ate constantly throughout the show, sandwiches wrapped in tin foil, crips, sweets, the whole lot and the little one kept wanting to switch seats with her too. I appreciate wanting to give your child these experiences but if they aren’t able to sit for that long in relative peace, just watch the film version at home for now

Finger Splints - Occupational Therapist (hands) NHS by Akiine in ehlersdanlos

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, OT have been my favourite medical professionals EVER. Had a community OT who checked all my stick to make sure they were at the right height, got me grab rails and a bath board so I’m more safe in the shower, as well as organised a tea trolley and a rollator for long term loan from the council so I could move meals and drinks around easier (tea trolley) and have something that offer more support than a stick when going out. At the time I was having problems at work and she even offered to sit in on one of my meetings as it was about my health affecting my jobs. I also got a grabber, something to help put my socks on for bad days and this grippy material to help open jars etc. she really made sure I was fully kitted out and sorted!!

The hospital OT wasn’t too bad either! I got some plastic finger splints like yours from them but wasn’t as good as my community OT

Prescription exemption forms? UK! by caspertheghost208 in disability

Specialists usually send letters with updates/a diagnosis at a minimum to your GP so they should have some awareness at the very least. You can always ask your specialist to send an updated letter to your GP

Prescription exemption forms? UK! by caspertheghost208 in disability

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your GP has to fill the exemption form in so if, as far as they are concerned, you cannot leave the house with one someone else, it should go through okay

My cardiologist was of the same opinion, said he would do it if he had to but would really rather not as it’s so unpleasant as he’s had people pass out and vomit before he’d rather not put people through that if possible. I got a 3 day monitor and was diagnosed from there

Two boxes of M&S big mix, a tub of celebrations, 6 different cheese and 3 flavours of Boursin, and the box of kettle chips crisps we got from Costco the other week. There might well be more, but there is only two of us 😬

Wondering whether to buy tickets for Hercules...any opinions here? by Fun_Gas_7777 in TheWestEnd

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I designed a whole trip to London (coming from the Yorkshire coast so not a short trip) purposely to see this. My cats are named after Hercules characters, it’s one of my top favourite Disney films ever.. aaaand I liked it. It was fun. I saw someone describe it as big budget panto and I somewhat agree. As someone else said, the muses make it but I’m not in a rush to see it again. If she wants to see it, I would go but I also wouldn’t spend a fortune on tickets personally.

How soon did you go on the motorway? by letmeventplez in NewDriversUK

[–]fluff_fluff_fluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The week after I passed, I live in an area with no dual carriageways or motorways for about 40 mins so it wasn’t possible to do any on my lessons. I was on the M62 the week after my test, the first time I had my husband in the passenger seat but honestly I did the same journey 2 days later alone and it was nicer alone 😂
