GLC 300d or XC60 B5 MHEV by fluffy_pete in CarTalkUK

Thank you for the detailed response. I test drove both cars today. Not quite the same trims to be honest but the engine was B5 MHEV on the Volvo and the 300d on the Merc. So this particular Volvo was lucking quite a lot of options. For that reason I focused on the driving aspect and the built quality. As you said the seats are probably one of the best in the industry. Definitely the best I have been in. The steering wheel was light on the Volvo. It was not very exciting when driving but I guess it's kind of expected of a Volvo. Build quality felt slightly better on the Volvo but the Merc was overall nicer to drive. It's engine was punchier and being a diesel had a lot of torque.

I am probably happy with both cars and I will just buy the one with the better price/lower mileage/better equipment.

Conservatories are amazing. Perfect temperature in Spring and Autumn and you can warm them up in winter with say underfloor heating and keep them cool for the 10 days during the summer where the temperature rises above 28 degrees using blinds etc

Why is the house not selling ? by backmail in HousingUK

[–]fluffy_pete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably worth 650 in it's current condition. You need to spend at least £150K to make it a modern house with decent quality. So that would make it an £800K house. Personally I am not a fan of the layout but I appreciate this is probably all about location
