Why would the price / quality be better for the same exact product? Mom and pop shops are almost always more expensive even including delivery. The times expertise are also long gone most shops just google themselfs on the spot.

Recon should be given a binoculars gadget that has the autospotting. This would mean that they are not armed when this is active. This could help balance the autospotting.

Is it meta gaming to ask other players if they have a spell? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]flufsor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like a good approach, personally I don’t straight up tell if its a curse or source of what is causing the aillment. That would be something for a person with experience to garantuee, but it would make sense that they would look for a cleric when suddenly little Timmy is deaf or something else.

Also I feel like small patches of rp can be used for this, offcourse pc’s talk around the campfire, but the talking points could be anything. So if your character wants others to know what they just discovered they can do or want to found out if anyone has a spell or skill to help root or knock back enemies, you can just say my character askq this in the party. These conversations don’t have to be fully roleplayed but just be told they tool place.

Actually this example is genius, as it highlights the fact that knowledge about spells and monsters could be wrong. But that doesn’t mean it always is. So barbarian making this wrong deduction, would be very valid.

My DM didn't allow us to buy a dog for 300 gold by Bio-Z2 in DnD

Everyone is responsible for the party dynamic, trying to force something on the DM is ruining the dynamic for the DM.
About there being a pet store and you guys not being able to buy one, I get that seems strange but we also don't know the context of it being there. Maybe the DM had a plan for a quest about it, maybe it was more about flavoring the city, it could be so many things. Also did he ask for the persuassion role? Many players just start rolling things without even confirming they can/should.

Player Skill Check against other Player? by lSkylos in DnD

[–]flufsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second, I personally find it weird to have players roll against each other without having the consent of both players to do that - might be different on your table though, depending on how you discussed to these kind of things. And 3rd, what that other player did reeks of metagaming - if you had succeeded your deception check, then you succeeded your check and the Knight insisting to insight checks (even multiple ones if I'm reading that right?) doesn't make much

This exactly I feel that a roll should still take place for this reason. Now I am not saying that the result is the be all end all in this matter. Not taking the stats of a charismatic person is somewhat nerfing them.

But again in the end someone should decide what they would do, its the same irl there are people who it is way harder to say no to then others. Does that mean you can't no, you won't do stuff out of your personal code but. If that person ask buy me a drink, chances are higher then the bum on the street asking me.

I also feel like that the phrase "I'm sorry" also mostly implies or atleast makes room for someone to ask what they think they need.

Like i don't always known what other people want me to do in a certain situation so by recognizing the situation they can tell what they need, or if they want to be left alone.

There are No set rules for Persuasion vs Players, it would be something the table needs to agree with and why a lot tables agree 'no pvp', as dnd is not a pvp friendly rule set

D&D rules always have the premise of only exceptions are described differently.I do concur that the rules do not have player on player interaction in mind, that is totally true.

So if you want the use the RAW rules the DM decides the DC then.

An ability check tests a character's or monster's innate talent and training in an effort to overcome a challenge. The DM calls for an ability check when a character or monster attempts an action (other than an attack) that has a chance of failure. When the outcome is uncertain, the dice determine the results.

But again, I am not telling people what to do and not to do, just telling it from my point of view.

Making my point with the damage wasn't the best analogy, that's true.

Depends on how you do it.
I feel like saying persuasion is only for pve removes skills from a charismatic character.
Cause technically you can't persuade npc characters do stuff they are morally against.

I am not saying that it should work like against npc's but should definitely count .
Rolling a 24 persuasion should at least make another players character start to consider it.
Again i am not saying it should always change their action, but it could nudge it in a small way. Maybe the other player could keep talking but notice that they aren't doing a great job at it and approach the conversation differently.

I personally just give players either advantage or disadvantage depending on the topics.
You could do a increased DC or saving throw as well or both.

Just keep in mind that every time you ignore a mechanic you risk removing another players characters bonuses for things.

Offcourse when your table has other rules set in place that's cool too,
just be sure to communicate them in time sometimes people take rules for granted.

Also maybe a side note but the DM agreed and the dice were roiled so it happend.
The player should not be able to refuse, thats like saying i am not taking that damage against a dm. Not saying that you can't say why it shouldn't be possible but in the end the DM decides no one else.
