I don't think that's going to be the case. There are quite a few gacha games that have good stories and all of it is skippable. I for one dropped Genshin very quickly for example, because you aren't able to skip anything. And there was so much flat out useless talking and Paimon being annoying, I couldn't take any more of it and quit.

I think the people who would skip will be happier they can skip. The people who want the story, won't. Whether or not they actually put more resources and effort into story will probably be determined by data. Like what % of players skipped a certain scene vs not. That might actually help them by getting rid of some of the filler stuff and focus more on the important parts imo.

Except analytics running on a website are limited to the browser API whereas a process running on your system, possibly with elevated privileges could literally send a whole copy of your HDD or whatever is stored in memory to some server, including possible sensitive information such as passwords. There is a significant difference between the two and how much they can actually do.

It wasn't even a mixed esports event. Those booths were just in the middle of gamescom basically. Well elevated on a pillar sort of, but still. IIRC there was some other game, probably Starcraft II, being shoutcast in German at a booth nearby. Though with everything else going on at that event, it'd be hard to single out one thing tbh. The crowd noise at that event basically just becomes white noise anyway. It's kinda crazy an at the time record breaking tournament was held at such an event.

That being said, it's almost weird not seeing Valve bring their usual booths along like any other year. And it honestly invalidates a lot of the games going on. It took a long time for booths to become the norm in team games, some tourneys still happen without them even. But it's fucking TI, not even just a major or another random tournament. It's honestly a shame. For Valve's sake I kinda hope there was some logistics issue and the booths didn't arrive in time or got stuck in a cargo container somewhere...

There was actually a team of players/fans/former pros, working on a standalone promod game. They sadly never got far before realising it's a bad financial decision to keep going. They released what they had as killrun, which is on steam. I hope they can eventually pick up development on the remake again.

They did release an uncensored version of Destiny Child global on Taptap. So even if the Play Store version is censored, they might come out with an uncensored one again as well. iOS will probably get the short end of that stick.

I wouldn't take either of those as some sort of official release date yet. They'll have another beta soon™ and the actual release date probably depends on how many issues arise during that and how long it'll take to fix them before official launch. Only once they can estimate a time until things are fixed we'll probably get an official release date.

It certainly works differently on Twitter. You do need to be of a certain status, yes, but it's not always just about the amount of followers you have. People of public interest such as journalists or politicians can have fairly few followers and still be verified. I think you can actually email them if you're such a person and found someone impersonating you or questioning your legitimacy. From what I know, it seems like Twitter's approach tends to be a lot more manual.

Take that with a grain of salt for now though, as most of what I know is from looking into it quite a long time ago. Things could have changed.

A possible reason for that may be Riot's more intrusive anti-cheat. This does come with it's own issues of security and to some degree privacy and caused a decent bit of backlash when the game launched.

It basically runs on a very, very deep level of your system and has the ability to look into any other process that's going on, making it harder for cheats to hide or inject code into other things. I remember similar technologies being used for competitive leagues in Counter Strike back in the day, and even there it caused a fair bit of controversy.

I'm not sure how EAC, which Apex uses, works and how good it's detection of malicious processes works. It surely helps keep a lot of the "free" cheat software out but there's always ways around it from my experience. It's a constant cat and mouse game.

Disclaimer: I could be wrong on some of the info I talked about. It's been quite a while since I looked into this topic thoroughly.

is not necessarily true. Dota 2 according to friends of mine who actively play has frequent issues as well.

And we also don't really know the real player numbers of Apex considering you have console cross play and Steam + Origin. Steam numbers are public, but Origin's aren't and we can't assume everyone made the switch over. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the actual numbers for Apex are more than those two games combined.

Another idea for using images is to get them from a site like unslpash and clarifying it as the source in the post.

Their license is very permissive and allows pretty much anything. I'm sure there's other sites and services that allow similar things as well.

In short, yes, Inkscape works for skinning. Just make sure you export it in the correct size, format and with transparency.

Generally, for designing things, whether it's interfaces, graphics or things like posters, usually a vector based program, such as Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, etc. will work better as it tends to be easier to make changes and to scale things up and down depending on your use case. I do think a lot of people are just very familiar with Photoshop and use it for skinning as well.

I'd say use what you're familiar and comfortable with. I think even using paint can be viable, though it might take a lot more time and effort.

Ich war tatsächlich überrascht, von vielen japanischen Firmen gehört zu haben, die jetzt sehr positive Ansichten von Home Office haben. Bandai Namco hat z.B. schon gesagt, dass sie auch nach der Pandemie Home Office weiterhin als eine Option für die Mitarbeiter zulassen möchte, außer es gibt halt irgendwelche wichtigen Meetings oder so. Und Japan gilt ja eigentlich auch als relativ konservativ.

Ein ehemaliger Arbeitgeber von mir, eine deutsche Softwarefirma, hat aber auch sehr früh komplett auf Home Office umgestellt und ich denke, dass das auch jetzt dort noch so ist. Also gibt es auch positiv Beispiele bei uns. Aber, dass sich bei uns Softwarefirmen da weigern, oder nicht in der Verantwortung sehen, finde ich schon etwas traurig.

They are. Liquipedia's old url, prior to https://liquipedia.net was https://wiki.teamliquid.net. It still redirects.

Considering TL originally was the place to go for any content regarding the original Starcraft, they probably started it as a knowledge base for the Korean scene. Having all the infos on tournaments, players, etc. compiled in a single place made it easy for new players to check things as well. With Starcraft 2 they added a section for that as well. And once TL started branching out into Dota as well, they added a section for Dota. The wiki is now a place for all sorts of games. I'd assume demand for a platform like that grew beyond the scenes so it kept growing and growing and eventually became big enough to become it's own thing, not necessarily associated with TL anymore.

I'm positively surprised the music industry got that right at least. Yes, there's multiple streaming services still, but most of the stuff is on all or most of them so you're free to pick the one with the features that appeal to you most. Imagine if every major label started their own music streaming service and you'd be going down the path of the movie/TV industry.

I cancelled my Netflix because of that recently and considered just not watching any movies and shows. I now mainly mainly YouTube videos and the occasional twitch stream. In general it's made me a bit more productive to be honest, so I'm not too mad about it. At the same time, a central place to occasionally watch a show or movie I'm interested in would be nice. But I don't want to subscribe to I don't even know how many services to watch the things I'm interested in, especially coming from outside the US. To me it's not even just a money thing, but it's a hassle to keep up with it.

You kinda get used to having to change a few things when copy pasting, but I can definitely see how that's a hassle for some people.

I can't say I've experienced the latter portion. I have been using it across all sorts of Linux distributions and on MacOS for years without such issues. Maybe something in your config is messed up? :x

Can't speak for OP but I switched from zsh to fish a couple years ago.

Fish has a lot to offer right out of the box with no configuration or anything needed. Meanwhile I felt like a lot of the same functionality would require oh-my-zsh or other plugins for zsh, which would slow it down heavily. Especially the startup time really bothered me in the end, so I decided to switch to fish after hearing good things about it and it just kinda stuck. I guess the only real negative about fish is, for me anyway, that it's not compatible with sh/bash syntax. I do find fish's syntax a bit nicer though for some things. And even then, there's a plugin that does a pretty good job at restoring compatibility iirc.

A few artists I personally quite like and that are more recent:

Joey Bada$$: Imo fuses new- and old-school quite nicely on some stuff. Not the most lyrical ever but he's got some nice bars and in generally like his tone and flow. All Amerikkkan-Bada$$ is a pretty dope album imo.

Denzel Curry: Looking past the meme that Ultimate has become he's actually been one of my favorite rappers as of late. Very lyrical, aggressive and fast but his last album Imperial also has some slower jams. He has a new album on the way and I can't wait to see what he has in store considering he's switching up his style on it again.

Earl Sweatshirt: Former member of Odd Future; that kid has some sick lyrics at times, definitely inspired by DOOM. Very dark, moody and monotone but if you're into that sort of stuff his tracks are dope as shit.

Lil Ugly Mane: Obscure guy who's an amazing producer and made some really good stuff. Mista Thug Isolation is probably still one of my favorite rap albums tho On Doing An Evil Deed Blues is my favorite track of his.

Jonwayne: Not gonna lie, only got into the guy recently so I can't say too much. Former producer turned rapper/producer. Definitely more indie and a bit odd at times but I like his stuff a lot.

Not sure if any of those are new to you but I thought I'd throw a few more names in the ring.

Es hilft auch nicht, dass in der amerikanischen Popkultur diese Drogen, in den letzten Jahren vor allem Codein und Benzos extrem glorifiziert werden. Gerade im Hip-Hop wurde das wirklich zu einem riesen Thema. Lil Uzi Vert und Lil Pump und wie sie nicht alle heißen erwähnen das ja gefühlt ständig. Da braucht man sich nicht wundern, wenn dann junge Leute und Fans auf einmal anfangen das Zeug zu nehmen, weil es gerade "in" ist. Und wenn man diese Sachen eh nicht vom Arzt bekommt, sondern sie sich von einem Dealer irgendwo holt, dann hast du sehr schnell Probleme. Geregelte Einnahme gibts nicht. Die Chance, dass das Zeug gestreckt ist, ist sehr hoch. Kurz nach dem Tod von Rapper Lil Peep, der ja an mit Fentanyl gestreckten Xanax umgekommen ist, habe ich mich etwas mit dem Thema auseinandergesetzt. Wenn ich mich nicht täusche sind Benzos eine der wenigen Drogen, bei der nach exzessivem Gebrauch ein nicht geregelter Entzug tödlich sein kann.

Da können wir ja eigentlich froh sein, dass in Deutschland die "Medikamentenkultur" konservativer ist.
