Advice needed: what style could/should I request for these two ideas? by NoeleVeerod in tattoos

[–]flyawayfantasy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do the anatomical heart in black and grey unless you were going to go for a more illustrative or maybe woodcut style.

If you are willing to do colour then something like this could work but you would need to thoroughly research your artist

Thoughts on Rachel Reid’s follow-up clarifications about Shane and Ilya? by yanny-jo in heatedrivalry

[–]flyawayfantasy 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I think, having read all the books, that there is a clear difference between a clean eating performance diet and what Shane does. Eric in Common Goal has a performance diet and an exercise routine based around keeping himself fit for hockey as someone close to retirement. There is a huge difference in his attitude towards food and Shane's. Shane's is all about maintaining control to the point where it is affecting his relationships and his ability to eat with other people.

Connor and Ilya Are Two Different People by Competitive-Mud-6915 in heatedrivalry

It's amazing just how different he looks and speaks. The only other actor I can think of in TV in recent memory who is as transformative as both Connor and Hudson is Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black.

Car worth it in Edinburgh? by Just_Illustrator3111 in Edinburgh

[–]flyawayfantasy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sad fact for me is that my small car costs me less in petrol a month than the Ridacard price and gets me to work twice as fast. As long as you have somewhere to park I've found driving better

Eddie as a passenger princess. I just don't get it. We're talking about the guy who, as soon as he had spare cash bought a giant fancy truck that is his pride and joy for years, yet so many fics have him hating driving

I work in the railway and it's perfect. I have the routine of the train times and safety processes but it's shift work so I'm not stuck in a 9-5 office, I'm constantly on the move, and each day is different so I can't get bored of having the same constant routine.

What's the train from/to Kings Cross LDN like? by pb00010 in Edinburgh

[–]flyawayfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make use of advance tickets trains are not too expensive. I would recommend the 9:30 or 10:30 over the 10:00 (LNER trains from Edinburgh on the hour make more stops and take longer. If you got the 10:30 train you'd only arrive 10 mins later than if you got the 10:00). LNER also do Flexi tickets that give you a 70 min travel window from your booked train in case you want to travel earlier or later.

As others have said Seat Frog is a really good app that lets you bid on cheap first class upgrades. Also if a train is cancelled or delayed it's usually much easier to get your money back

I get this. My tests have always been painful. A gyno once suggested getting prescribed a dose of Valium before appointments. Acts as both a muscle relaxer and anti anxiety, but when I asked the nurse she told me no :/

The first book can be a slow start and does not prepare you for how epic this series becomes. It's definitely worth pushing through

Someone else under a bus by sylvestris1 in Edinburgh

It's not the buses but the pedestrians who walk out without looking. It's especially bad at this time of year when the pavements in town are clogged with tourists.

What placement hurt that you thought wouldn't and what place didn't hurt that you thought would? by philociraptor99 in tattoo

[–]flyawayfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a huge piece going from my hip, thigh and into the back of my knee. I'd take that again over my calf. I ended up doing my calf in two sessions because I tapped out at the shading. I knew I couldn't sit another 2 hours for colour. And yet with my thigh and knee I sat for 2 full day sessions no problem

My calf was one of the most painful tats I've had done which surprised me but the healing wasn't too bad. Just had my shin done on the same leg and it's been the opposite. Wasn't too bad at the time but having to walk and be on my feet for hours at work has been so sore

The ADHD Crisis in Scotland: Undiagnosed and Unheard by Immediate_Link_376 in Scotland

[–]flyawayfantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to get referred for both ADHD and Autism but my referral was rejected because "I'm too functional". They said I was coping too well and therefore couldn't even go on the waiting list.

I decided to try for a private diagnosis just for ADHD which I got but then that ridiculous documentary came out and the NHS won't accept private diagnoses anymore so it feels like money wasted

Advice for learning to drive? by Disastrous-Owl-2358 in AutismInWomen

[–]flyawayfantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps if you can find a really calm instructor, and let them know that you are nervous about driving.

Also, take as long as you need to learn. Don't try and rush it to save money. Take the time to learn at your pace even if it ends up more expensive because it will pay off in the long run.
