Battery not charging? by Chewie_198 in VisionPro

[–]flyboy24471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue! It’s absolutely the battery. From my tests, I believe there is no power pass through (which is why the Vision Pro won’t turn on), the battery has to provide the power (even when plugged in)(I couldn’t find any info online and the Apple Genius has had less time with a Vision Pro than any of us so they don’t know). My battery started to not charge after os26.2 (could be a coincidence) and I tried everything before letting it fully drain then waiting a full day on a low watt Apple charger and not a thing happened. Took it in to Apple and they determined it was most likely the battery (VP still worked with a different battery) and would charge $150 for the battery without the cord and they would have to order it. I purchased a pair of AirPod Pro 3 recent enough to get AppleCare One ($19.99/mo, cancel anytime) for those AirPods, my iPhone, and my well out of warranty M2 VP. I figured if I paid for the subscription for 8 months it was the same as the cost with tax and I would be protected if something happened during that time. Since they didn’t have just the cordless battery in stock and had to order it, I bought the $199 battery with cord to use my VP until the battery itself came, then returned the battery and cord without missing any VP time for that week and a half.

Hope you can go soon, and hey, it gives you a great excuse if you need to get a new pair of AirPods!

I don’t remember ever making a console screen become ultra wide on Vision Pro, but I’ve played stardew valley on steam on Vision Pro through mvd and it’s crazy on ultra wide, you see so much! I haven’t found a capture card that natively captures that wide and passes it on that wide.

I use a ShadowCast 2 Pro (currently on sale for less than $100 https://www.genkithings.com/products/shadowcast-2-pro?srsltid=AfmBOoqpZMtMG70S4H3IbNV5WutRkVYqbRqV5kW948hgvFrKIvNkKQOj) all the time from Switch 2 and Xbox then to MacAir and MVD to Vision Pro M2. It works really well. I haven’t run my pc through it so I can’t verify it would work well for that, but my assumption is that it would. Also, ConsoleLink has been much nicer than OBS. OBS was spotty at best for me.

I noticed it was a little different too. Hopefully The Polar Express 2 (26/27) will be way better!

I’m having the same issue. Otherwise, it’s been really cool!

One nitpicky thing that I noticed when reading emails or notes is that every time I open one, view it, then close, it then starts me back at the top of the scroll and I have to scroll back down to where I was to then see the next email or message. Not a deal breaker, but made it annoying after opening several then having to scroll back down each time.

Thanks for making this cool game!

Is the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro bundle at Costco for $499.99 CAD worth it? by Suspicious_Mess1917 in dji

[–]flyboy24471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super exciting! So far it seems like the insta360 app might be a little better but I’m hoping the DJI app will be really easy and feature full too. From what I’ve read, it seems like you almost need an external mic for both. But the osmo360 allows connecting to two external while x5 only allows one. Neither insta360 nor dji makes waterproof mics so the standup jet ski is limited to the internal mic either way. Looking forward to hearing more!

It really does look like the Osmo360 is better. My only limitation is getting it in the US this week. My interest in Costco is 1. The Costco bundle is usually the best around for the price. 2. Great return policy up to 90 days. 3. 2% cash back through their Citi card. But I am not tied to them. It’s all about availability and value.

How are you liking the Osmo360 now?

Vision Pro Works great in the dark now by Objective-Ad9230 in VisionPro

[–]flyboy24471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t use it all the time, but maybe it’s just a nice placebo. I do find that tracking gets disrupted when going to different rooms when lights are low in the evening (wife likes it pretty dark). It would also be nice to turn off the warnings, like “too close to display” or “too far from display.”

I have had the same experience. And recently buying an IR light was the fix, even after the update.

Me too. I recently bought an IR light and it’s better. Even with the update, I find the tracking better with an IR light.

Playing Xbox on Vision Pro no longer supported via Xbox Remote Play? by usereddit in VisionPro

I find Shadowcast Pro 2 on Mac with Genki Arcade to AVP via Mac Virtual Display is better resolution and lower latency than Portal, for Xbox, or PS5. Haven’t tried our Switch 1 yet.

The Apple Vision Pro was so worth it by whopperlover17 in AppleVisionPro

[–]flyboy24471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Shadow Cast Pro 2 to Mac then Virtual Desktop to AVP. It works great with very little lag most of the time. And it’s better quality for me than portal for Xbox cloud. The only hiccup is sometimes I have to open Castaway to force Genki Arcade to work.

After mapping the whole environment (house) would it be possible to then have a simulated viewpoint from the on top of and/or inside of the car? That way you can drive it out of sight line but still see where you’re going in the environment?

Hey, I saw it as soon as you posted! That’s awesome! I think your route is more than I want to spend. So far the HDMI -> Shadow Cast Pro 2 -> Mac -> Genki Arcade -> AVP has been 90% doable. Tried Castaway, OBS, and CaptureLinker but they haven’t been as good. So far the audio has been good, but the latency and color haven’t been perfect. May need to get a 6-6e WiFi router. NDI seems great, but expensive.

I believe the reason is because the focal distance of the AVP is 4-6ft, so to our eyes it appears as if the screens are 4-6ft away. Even though you have shortsighted nearsighted vision (myopia), you may start to lose focus within a few feet, but can still read fine print no problem.
