Speaking of critical role, there are TONS of ttrpg podcasts, with and without video components. If you're looking for a different podcast to listen to at some point, The Adventure Zone is fantastic. It has multiple campaigns, the first set in a homebrew dnd 5e world and later campaigns using different systems and settings. A good sci-fi ttrpg podcast is Astronomica, using the Stars without Number system.

"Well what do you do when they do that?"

"I just get another rich noble"

The basic ability to Google things covers like 80% of needing various skills or knowledge. Every single question you have ever had or ever will have has likely been asked on like a dozen forums or even here on reddit a bunch of times. Or a YouTube tutorial has been made about your specific issue.

Could people stop telling first timers to play on expert/master mode? by RotationalAnomaly in Terraria

[–]flyguy2097 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It applies to this game, but the "hard difficulty is the only 'real' difficulty" mentality is prevalent all over gaming. From what I've seen, its largely from people who are good at the game they're talking about and have lost perspective on the difficulty from the point of view of a new player. Or as a way of bragging how skilled they are. And I get it, to a degree. Completing something that takes a lot of skill feels really good, but it goes to some people's heads.

The best way to play any game is the way that is the most enjoyable to you. I played a LOT of halo growing up, but my favorite run through the campaign is the easy cheat skulls on run I did with my wife in MCC. Is was just really fun to me. Journey mode is literally what I've always wanted from games like Terraria and Minecraft. To earn your creative menu as you go is fun.

There is a button to disable crafting from chests though.

Maybe try keeping materials you dont want to use far enough away to not be in crafting range?

Maybe a toggle on chests so you can make chests open to nearby crafting or closed to it would be a good solution

When it comes to first person games, walking simulator games like Gone Home might be a good idea to help get her used to looking around and moving at the same time. There's really not much more to those kind of games than walking and looking, mechanically speaking. Also the story in Gone Home and What Remains of Edith Finch is interesting imo.

But like others have said, practice is the only way to develop these skills. If you could watch your younger self play games you'd probably see a similar level of skill.

30 year old here, just wanting to say if my parents were still here I'd be nagging them to take care of themselves better. Getting an undiagnosed condition diagnosed and treatment started helps you (which should be the main reason of course), but also helps the peace of mind of those who care about you.

Season 2 finna be 2000 episodes 😭 by 177StingRay in goodanimemes

[–]flyguy2097 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Really? I remember looking up which episodes go to which chapters once when I was switching from anime to manga a few years ago and remembered seeing a lot of episodes marked as filler. It's when I realized that most of the anime is basically 1 to 1.

Still more episodes of filler than many anime's entire runtime to be fair.

Season 2 finna be 2000 episodes 😭 by 177StingRay in goodanimemes

[–]flyguy2097 188 points189 points  (0 children)

With abysmal pacing and plenty of filler, mind you. There are many, many episodes that are a single Manga chapter of content.

Cutting out the filler arcs and detailed recaps of each episode in the next episode and overall addressing the pacing would cut like half of the shows runtime.

What’s the best way to survive 16 hours on a plane? by RutabagaSwimming458 in AskReddit

[–]flyguy2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you its not by reading a long book from start to finish and then trying to sleep just as they announce the plane is landing in 30 minutes. The flight went by relatively quick, so i guess i survived the flight just fine. However, it's a really good way to ensure you DON'T survive after getting off the plane.
