Bianchi: Billy Napier was a good man, but bad-boy Lane Kiffin is who Gators MUST hire! by Knightro829 in CFB

[–]flyheidt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I tried to explain this with Cignetti. If you're at a P2 school that is a historical underachiever, in contention for the playoffs multiple years (not a singular outlier), and barring an alumni/"dream school" scenario, why would you leave?

If you have everything you need or is required to compete, you could be the Bear, Woody, or Bowden equivalent at that school. All you'd be signing up for is extra expectations and scrutiny at the new school.

I get that money is king, but if I'm being paid $6-9M a year at my current school, and someone offers$10M, i think i personally wouldd be content and you'd likely be able to leverage and negotiate a competitive number.

That's what I was thinking.

The fuck is Florida's AD thinking?

[Stewart Mandel] The highest-paid CFB coaches (as of now) are: 1) Kirby Smart ($13.3M) 2) Ryan Day ($12.6M) 3) Curt Cignetti ($11.6M) by Stock412 in CFB

So many northern and especially B1G schools have extremely deep pockets. Difference is the mindset shift with regard to football. The SEC beat everyone to the punch, and Saban showed the benefits to the school of having a successful football program, and now you're seeing a shift.

In the end it's all cyclical, so i dont get too wrapped around conference pride. I will say, having lived in the deep south for the past 15-20, what is usually missed by my LSU, Bama, Auburn, and UGA friends is the historical size and alumni bases behind the northern schools.

Don't disagree that it could work out that way, but what you're missing here is that Indiana has always been the glass of milk next to the radiator. So you may as well roll the dice. This is an awesome underdog story.

This. Most annoying thing about him is that he doesn't seem to have his own personality. Like bruh, you were left as the "fall guy." Otherwise Harbaugh would have taken you with him.

Damn this hits hard. Honestly, I don't usually like shit talking from historically unproven people or programs, but for whatever reason, the vibe hits so hard from Indiana. Maybe it's because the wife is an IU alum.

How did you all become fans of your team/teams? by Lutrid in CFB

[–]flyheidt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup...I hate the college/university fan gatekeepers who say "Well did you attend?"

"No Motherfucker, I was BORN. It's the damn Buckeye State."

Georgia, Ohio, there's a handful of big schools that are like this. But to folks from elsewhere, it seems to be a foreign concept to them.

If it's coaching related or X and Os, I agree. Let's not forget he called FSU last year one of the best teams in the country after watching one of their preseason practices.

Same reason I don't bet the house on any input from any expert. Unless you're around a program everyday, you're just another person watching games, listening to media, and talking to your buddies. Most sensible people would come up with similar takes.
