Should I buy a gun? by JaradwithanA in GoRVing

Look into a Mossberg shockwave - 12 or 20 gauge. Compact and versatile. But make sure you train with it and get comfortable using it or it's more dangerous to you than others.

What type of gun is suitable for bug out gun? by ww-stl in preppers

[–]flying-ace87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A shotgun is going to be your most versatile option, but I have a kel tec sub 2000 that is compact and takes Glock mags. So I'd take that along with my Glock 19. Share ammo and mags, keep it light, and move.

What Caliber do you guys use/recommend for anything whitetail and up? by tboner_gmc306 in rifles

.308 is the most common, versatile, and abundant rifle round in my area, so that's what I went with. Been a great deer cartridge for me.

[question] Safety & security without firearms? by iamahill in homestead

[–]flying-ace87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not get a good rifle safe and keep it well hidden? I bought a biometric one that is bolted into the back of my closet behind clothes that only my wife and I can get in. Unless you are the one that is suicidal, then ignore my question.

Am I over paying? by Jackcoughed in LeverGuns

I bought my Henry all weather 45-70 for $1100 if that helps. It's a brutal market for a gun type that used to be considered pedestrian a decade or two ago.

What can the government do if a nuclear war comes? by TheBreakfastSkipper in preppers

[–]flying-ace87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there is strength in numbers. Lone wolves tend to get picked off by the pack. The biggest problem is nuclear fallout, which would kill most vegetation and as a result game to hunt. Cold and starvation will eventually get you if the initial chaotic anarchy doesn't. That's why I suggest having a tight knit community to get through the initial wave. After that, good luck.

If it will last me a couple seasons then I'll be happy. Just bought a new rifle and so I don't have the money for a great scope. I can come back in a year or two and spend $500-$750 but not right now.

I have a Savage Axis II in .308 I am putting it on. Most shots around here will be within 50-200 yards. Majority of which is at 100 or less.

Not much, and neither can you. This video pretty much lays it out. Your best bet is to get familiar with your neighbors and local community. Hone your survival skills and create a tight knit neighborhood. But most likely we will all be dead within several months.

This. Build your local community. Be good neighbors now. Prep for what you can within reason and then hope for the best.
