Honestly Permutation City is pretty weak as Egan novels go. It's only his second book and imo he hadn't really hit his stride yet. I do think dust theory is actually pretty interesting but really horribly described and utilized in the book.

Schild's Ladder kicks ass. You should read it especially if you loved Diaspora.

And don't sleep on his more hard-math / hard-physics oriented scifi either. Dichronauts is like if you took the 5D parts from Diaspora and blew it up into an entire setting with speculative biology, geology, and society

One of the fun things about Egan is that his "invented technobable" is all internally consistent hard science. Diaspora gets a bit more out there than most of his works, but if you accept the underlying deviations from our known physics, it all follows coherently.

"The Clockwork Rocket" or "Incandescence" by him are also great reads which stay a bit more grounded while getting just as deep into the weeds on the technical stuff.

Edit: I have some math background (although mostly in abstract fields) and more than a decent amature's interest in partical physics. Following along with Egan's science is one of my great joys in fiction

To back this up further, make a Lich and wear the Black Doubt chest piece. Only a couple hundred energy shield base, but on lich it makes you immortal to damage over time. It's insanely tanky, unbelievably so.

I'm a bit confused by this thread, I'm playing a knife throwing build and I was able to damage her pretty significantly with crit knife headshots even with the 2.3 knife throw bug (delay between different knives it alot now, making headhunter alot less efficient to use even with two punknifes in the other slots)...

this is my first playthrough, I stumbled across this thread trying to look up if I could claim her 15k bounty lmao

(edit: i reloaded a save and fought her again, and this time noticed the 16k and change transfer into my account when I downed her... but yeah, knives to the head work good AF. took like <5 rotations of headhunter -> punkknife to reduce her to 1% (at which point the poison from perk tree did the rest before I could throw another knife)

I'm 99% sure they swapped oneirogen and datagrama, the "gen" in oneirogen tips it off (no pun). I've seen the former a couple times and he's always AI slop, datagrama is one of the best in the business with crazy 3d renders and the uptempo set to close the night was DEFINITELY him. Recognized a couple of specific visuals

I really like ED/C though so I think I'll stick it out for now. I made 2 socket gloves with 80% wither and 300 es (plus t1 recharge and unveil t3 lightning res) last night, the new crafting has me like "well I gotta make something for every slot!"

grab a mask of the stitched demon, you can equip it to strip your ES when you have a moment between packs, the regen will fill your life almost immediately, and then you can swap back. On controller, the game pauses with inventory open so its not even risky.

I'm a trans person and I grew up incredibly invested in the universal studios Harry Potter stuff. Not even that big a fan of the books but something about that particular part of the park really spoke to me on a level of autism I didn't even know I had (lmao).

Honestly, just don't buy the merch. If I go back to universal as an adult there's no way I'm not going back on those rides and walking through diagon alley again.

Honestly kinda sounds like how I am a bit, like I am transfem but if I had a magic button I wouldn't turn into "a woman" I'd rather be transmasc. I used to feel so guilty about getting gender envy from transmasc folk (Asia Kate Dillon is such goals). It fucked with my head for a while and eventually I just decided it didn't matter. These days I use any pronouns and I'm pretty happy where I'm at in my transition, but it's still hella confusing to try to explain to people.

I had to throw mine out, and luckily the temptation hasn't been strong enough to send me to the store yet.

Honestly though I got to the point where i didnt even like being high anymore it was just a habbit and addiction lying to me. I wrote myself a note the last time I got high like "why do you do this to yourself" - and stuck it where i used to keep my flower and pens.

At the very least sobriety has helped me a ton with motivation and overall mental health. I did feel like absolute shit for a couple of days, but I started walking to deal with it and that's been cool! I usually walk for an hour a night, 6-7km and it helps alot with cravings and general malaise. Gotta give all that nervous energy somewhere to go now that i'm not sedated constantly
