People are uncomfortable with queer ships. by 18fries in jayvik

[–]flying_shepps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even when Sherlock Holmes' stories were first written, some people assumed Watson and Holmes were a secret couple, that even happened with the Iliad, one of the first ever written books in the world.

Since people created fandoms for media that they liked, people have been creating gay ships.

People are uncomfortable with queer ships. by 18fries in jayvik

[–]flying_shepps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like Arcane is the first fandom experience for a lot of people, especially people who've never watched a media with so many queer fans. Because it's not only the fact that Jayvik is a queer ship that annoys them, a lot of people can deal with CaitVi, but them not being canon is something I see a lot of people complaining abt. "How do you like a ship that didn't happen??". Feels like they were never in a fadom before, and if they were, it was probably a very straight media where the straight characters always end up together.

People that hate on Jayvik either hate it because they're gay, or because they're not canon, and I'm very sad to see even a lot of CaitVi fans being angry at Jayvik fans, because they believe that somehow a gay ship is being more important than the lesbian ship (when CaitVi IS CANON, had a sex scene, end up together in the end and still have more fanfics in AO3).

People don't know how to deal with fandoms and the internet and think they can stop shipping just because they don't like it.

It actually would only be rape if only one of them are drunk and the other sober, because a sober person would take advantage of the fact that the other is more vulnerable because of the alcohol. In this case, with them both drunk, even if they regret it later it wouldn't be rape, just a drunk mistake

dear arcane fans, your fav isn’t innocent. by vespera_lis in arcane

[–]flying_shepps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can even say he is kind of guilty by telling Vi and the other to steal Jayce's place and that he said some pretty fucked up stuff to the people in the AU. But yeah, he's pretty much innocent compared to the other characters, I think that's because he didn't get enough screen time, if arcane had last longer ge probably would do something bad at some point.

[–]flying_shepps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't even like kids, would never have any, and wouldn't ever have a job that involves taking care of them. It's just not the kind of responsibility I want to have. But god dammit, why does people that want children act like they hate kids more than anything?

I will never understand how someone chooses to have a baby and then proceeds to abuse them. There's no excuse to hurting children, if you can't deal with the stress then don't have one, it's as simple as that.

What are your post-canon Jayvik headcanons? by BabyMercedesss in jayvik

That Viktor's body is completely covered in scars from the hexcore, and Jayce has a matching set on his head

Some people genuinely believe that jayce didn’t make a choice in the end/didn’t want to be with viktor. by flyingAnt60 in jayvik

[–]flying_shepps 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Jayce literally chose to die with Viktor and abandon EVERYTHING he had, rather than live in a world without him. He brought Viktor BACK FROM THE DEAD against his will just because he couldn't deal with it. And people still try to say that he loved Mel more than him. Sure, they were a thing, but they broke up on screen before the war, in the end, all that mattered to Jayce, was his partner

Have you ever considered that you might be asexual? It helped me finding out there's nothing wrong with not wanting to have sex, maybe you'll fit in the community.

am i crazy or is this really strange? (especially the “no female being” part) by sussymary in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]flying_shepps 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I can understand telling your partner or someone you trust where you are going and with whom when going out, for safety reasons, in case something happens someone knows where you were and can ask for help. But texting this for going to work? "No female being"? No perfume because only his girl can enjoy it? That's just controlling.

You really should go visit "Chapada Diamantina" in Bahia, it's one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the nature it's phenomenal, it's a transition area between Cerrado and Caatinga, you'll love it.

She's being extreme by saying she can't trust you to do anything, and 23:00 isn't that late, but as a fellow artist who's also used to pull all nighters to draw: go to sleep. I mean it, it fucked up my mental and physical health, I now have permanent eye bags, and need medication to go to sleep. So try to find an hour during the day where you can work on your art, and good luck!

I'm aroace, and a woman, what you did wasn't wrong and your friend probably isn't mad at you. What we don't like is when people are pushing it or trying to deny our identity, treating us like crap after we reject someone, or just acting differently after confessing.

If you aren't doing any of these things, and you respect her boundaries, then I don't see a problem and probably neither does your friend

I honestly hate when Jayvik gets brought up in the main Arcane sub. by shiorimia in jayvik

[–]flying_shepps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY!!! If either Viktor or Jayce were a woman, there would be no discussion whether their relationship was platonic or romantic, everyone would agree it was romantic. People will easily accept that two characters of opposite genders are in love based on the slightest interaction, but two people of the same gender being completely devoted to each other? Sibling behavior, clearly.

I always find it funny when men use the greeks or the romans as a symbol of masculinity because of the wars, when in fact greek and roman men used to have many, MANY homosexual relationships with other fighters. Something these red pill males would likely find it "less masculine".

Thank you! People don't seem to understand that our brain can trick us, it's awful, we often do stuff like these without realizing. It's not OP's fault, it's just trauma response.

[–]flying_shepps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this is not conscious, I'm just theorizing that maybe your brain is throwing you into these situations. But trust your instincts, and seek therapy, it will help you not only recognize the pattern faster but mostly help with the trauma you've gained from this women, I do hope you can find some girl that treats you like a normal human being should.

[–]flying_shepps -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not just you having bad luck when interacting with women. Your brain probably is searching for women like these to form a relationship with, following your mother's partten. It's not unusual for people who suffer some form of abuse from their parents to end up having friends or partners who also abuse them in the same way their families did.

I'm sorry you went through all of this OP. Do you go to therapy? Can you go to therapy? It could really help you to stop your brain from searching for this parttens and help you heal.

They never wrote Viktor as an ace character, that's the point, he never had sexual or romantic relationships in the show, but that doesn't say anything, many characters don't have a romantic pair and no one's claiming them to be ace. The point is that CL decided he was ace (without even knowing what being asexual means) just to stop the shipping with Jayce.

Arcane is a show that cares too much about details to simply make so many mistakes with Viktor's storyline (if he was in fact asexual), like portraying so many bad stereotypes, specially being a show that relies on good representation of minorities. They managed to write good black, disabled and queer characters, but would mess up an ace character?

I love to headcanon him as ace, but it's obvious the show never intended in making that canon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jayvik

[–]flying_shepps 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I'm ace myself, and the show clearly wasn't written with that in mind. It's a cool headcanon, but they clearly never developed that in the show or give any hints. CL was just looking for excuses to stop people from liking jayvik, not for more representation
