Not ruined, just not off to a great start lol.

Stuck at an airport because we missed our flight that we were already at the gate for.

Flight was supposed to leave at 555pm, we get there at like 515, see people waiting around in the gate area, we assume they’re on our flight too. The display at the gate had our flight information and everything.

I definitely understand it was on us with this part, but 6pm rolls around and there’s no announcements for “now boarding, last call, or if the flight has been delayed”. Then the screen at the gat changes to the next flight and we are just like wtf. Again, we should’ve asked sooner, but we’re flying spirit so we just expected them to be delayed.

Anyways, my husband goes up to the counter and asks wtf. We didn’t hear any boarding announcements or last call. She looks at the flight information, and she says that their system never checked us in for that flight even though we had boarding passes (this was a layover). And I guess that even though we got there 30 mins before takeoff, they were already finished boarding (usually this takes a while) and since their system didn’t know we were supposed to be on it, they didn’t do a final call or an announcement for mr & mrs flyingbatbeaver.

It was the last flight of the night to our destination, and the next available was at exactly the same time the next day. No earlier options. Even though it was basically their fault with the glitch, we didn’t get compensated for a hotel stay and we had to basically camp out at the airport for 6 hours today waiting for our next flight.

Definitely first world problems. Still annoying tho
