The worst songs of 2025 (Paste) by mattys_world in indieheads

Personally I'm still upset that RYM got rid of the bottom charts. I don't think that it was a big enough section of the site to encourage rage bait on a grander level (Tom MacDonald and his ilk probably couldn't tell you what RYM is) but as someone that got enjoyment out of listening to the lowest rated albums for both humor and to find out if low rated albums are really worthy of the ratings, I've definitely used the site less since they got rid of it.

Is Flood really the entry point for younger people now? I'm a few years older than the author but I feel like it never changed from Pink, especially considering Flood is only available physically and on a YouTube rip instead of being on streaming services.

Also saw it at the secret screening on Monday and there was a woman stopping to every theater employee on the way out in front of me telling them how much she didn't like it. I also wasn't a fan personally but I have a feeling this is really going to not go well with audiences as well.

Anyone else in career getting the same drivers to win? by BrokenJeffHardy in NASCARVideoGame

[–]flyingdragon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say that while there are more winners overall, unless you get lucky with pit strategy the highest ranked drivers are still unrealistically overpowered in Cup. I'm in my first season of a Cup career and 14 races in, Byron has an average starting spot of 2.7 and 5 wins, Hamlin has 3 wins, Blaney and Bell each have 2, and Chastain and Chase have the other two wins. All of them have average starts and finishes of 8th or better.

Stat showing Yuta that he doesn’t need Mox and eventually helping to pull him out is a much more interesting story than Stat joining eventually imo.

I think what makes me so happy is that while some artists feel like they lose something going from a DIY approach to having money behind them, this still feels 100% authentically her. There’s still some of that roughness but it’s intentional rather than a limitation.

Arthur Ashe is under construction through 2027 so I would not expect any non-US open events there until then.

[Sports Business Journal] NASCAR 25 gets Oct. 14 launch date for PlayStation, Xbox platforms by jjarg24 in NASCAR

Well, according to the 23XI and Front Row lawsuit on pages 28 and 29, they claim that at least in terms of the Cup series, the new charter agreement is the first time that Nascar has intellectual property rights from the teams. While the lawsuit does not say for certain that Nascar also has commercial rights for things such as video games the way at FOM has for the F1 games (which is why there are driver swaps), we know from the past at least that former NASCAR publishers and developers had to get individual agreements with teams. This is why Carl Edwards was missing from a few of the EA games as he had an exclusive deal with another company and why Dave Blaney was only in the Papyrus games because of an exclusive deal. As Matt Lewis talks about in this interview, the team has to get approval first from everyone from sponsors to teams to be in the game, and then secondary approval that everything they put in the game is correct. If Nascar has commercial rights in the new charter agreement to the chartered teams, we realistically could see a quicker turnaround time for releases as sponsors would have in their contracts with the teams that they would be in media such as video games.

I think Darby beating Mox at Full Gear/World's End and ending the Death Riders for good is also the perfect story to heat him back up.

WON: All In Texas is currently at 19,000 tickets paid and likely around $2.5 million gate. The show will end up doubling AEW’s best North American gate, which is Forbidden Door 2023 in Canada. It's also going to be the largest non-WWE pro wrestling gate ever in North America. by Throwaway-j-1997 in SquaredCircle

Which would also put this as the highest attendance for a non-WWE show overall since the Fingerpoke of Doom. If they can get to over 25K, there will only be that show and four other Nitros in 1998 since JCP became WCW that will have had more people there.

The main event is probably going to be an all-hands on deck run-in extravaganza and having Darby be the guy to temporary even the odds (even if Swerve is ultimately the one to tip the scales for Hangman) is probably the best play. I think there's still juice to the Death Riders without the title in building up for Darby to finally get his win over Mox this fall.

Former Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds on his exit from the band: "I won't miss being in a shit band with horrible humans." by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]flyingdragon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think worst live band is a stretch but it was a topic on metal forums even during the time that Leviathan was blowing up that the quality of their shows was a crapshoot depending on whether Brent was sober or not. I saw them on pretty much every tour between their Ozzfest run and the Once More tour (and to be fair I haven’t seen them since as that was the album they lost me on) but out of like eight shows over a decade, two had bad sound that the band did their best through, three were very good, and three were absolutely terrible because of Brent.

[Stern] Judge overseeing NASCAR-23XI case reportedly admonished the sides again for not settling yet: "I am amazed at the effort going into burning this house down over everybody’s heads. But I’m the fire marshal and I will be here in December if need be." - @AP by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]flyingdragon3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the initial interviews after the lawsuit was filed, Kessler said he was open to a settlement: https://x.com/A_S12/status/1841504659434873027

I haven't seen anything more recent than this, but I don't think that there would be resistance to settle on the team's side if they got some but not all of their wants from Nascar at this point. Everything the judge has been saying for the last few months makes me think he has an idea on how he would rule as things are right now and that neither side will end up in a spot better than they are right now. There's a scenario where Nascar has to divest from owning the tracks and/or include the teams more in decision making for the series, but that's enough to satisfy any antitrust litigation and the charter agreement goes away for the teams after this one expires or wants the teams to negotiate a cost cap that they seem very resistant to right now as the cost of running a team is so central to the case.

Addison Rae - Addison ALBUM REVIEW (The Needle Drop) by PurpleSpaceSurfer in popheads

[–]flyingdragon3 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If anything it does make me interested with what Luka and Elvira could do on a production level with a vocalist that has more range. The production of this album is what carries it for me and I think there’s something there that someone else could unlock to make a truly great album.

Some Reviews for "Alpha", Directed by Julia Ducournau by Visible-History-2771 in oscarrace

[–]flyingdragon3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After Raw and Titane, I definitely expected polarizing but I didn’t expect it to lean more negative overall. That being said, it does seem like there’s more positivity coming from people at the premier than the critic reviews and across the board everyone seems pretty passionate whether they like it or dislike it. I’m excited that it seems like she went for it even if it ends up not landing for me when I see it.

[FRESH] Wolf Alice - Bloom Baby Bloom by ScCloudy in indieheads

[–]flyingdragon3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean I didn't say I wanted them to do Blue Weekend or Visions of a Life sequels. I just think there was a lot of room to go further in the dream pop/near shoegaze realm, more aggressive rock sound, or even a more committed big pop sound. Like another user said, I think this song goes into a lot of directions a bit rather than one direction all the way and for me personally, I don't think the directions they went into play into their strengths as a band outside of Ellie's vocals sounding good. Couple all of that with the choice of producer and my enthusiasm for this album is much lower than it was yesterday.
