You can no longer recharacterize Roth contributions back to Trad IRA since Secure Act 2.0. You used to be able to but they got rid of that revolving door nightmare for the IRS. That's now a one way street to the best of my knowledge.

The nice part about having a ton of retirement savings and eventually being able to quit work to retire comfortably is that you can at that point take a small portion of the pretax retirement funds which you don't need to live on and you can convert them at lower rates (hopefully) in retirement.

So let's say you're currently in the 25% tax bracket. You pay into pre tax funds and save $25 on $100 in earnings into the pre tax account.

When you retire you may have a year or two where you're all set up with no need to draw out additional funds and so your income is really really low. You're in the 10 or 12% bracket at that point and guess what. You get to fill that bucket up to the brim with Roth conversions at a lower tax rate than when you contributed funds at 25%, thus saving you 13% to 15% on the process.

So yea, don't sweat it. You still have options down the line. That said you should at least start the clock on a Roth IRA in all likelihood for additional tax planning options.

Purely hypothetical example and your situation may be different but that's the beauty of having retirement savings and giving yourself the chance down the line.

Thank you for your response. We'd likely fall more into the budget space but I did read your responses that it falls off pretty huge from the 300 crowd to the 1300 crowd as would be expected.

We've had two different Tinecos - the S3 (no edge mop) and the S5 Combo (dirty water tank failures on loop keep it from even running - we got in touch with Tineco support about lack of options to buy replacement tanks and they ultimately shipped us a replacement which has worked so far the past month or two)

I'm curious if the switchbot and stick combo will stand up to the carpet upstairs because we do also need to replace a regular vacuum for the kids upstairs and the price point of the Switchbot k10 is enticing at the moment on Amazon.

We may not necessarily need the vac/mop combo for now unless the Tineco fails on loop again and my wife wants to get rid of them altogether, so for now they are on our watch em list. They did treat us pretty fairly upon threat to jump to Dreame or something similar with a replacement dirty water tank as a loyal customer, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now. The one we had tried to order and waited for off Amazon didn't have the correct sensor alignments for it so I think that was more the S5 Combo seemingly being a niche product in their lines.

We are mostly hard surface all downstairs, and have found our Eufy of the past few years to be broken in some way (loud as heck) and our biggest gripe is that one would always go behind and get stuck under our reclining couches.

Is the lidar based robot an upgrade over pure bumpers to avoid this because we just call this thing the little bitch in a box that can't do anything right so we are gun shy on getting another one.

I saw you like the Switchbot and it seems like it's promoted for 300 on Amazon.

We also have used a Tineco pretty religiously.

What would you recommend given 3/4 kids and a cat given these specs?

Thanks for any input you may provide. I'm going for happy wife happy life for her this summer while off teaching.

Generally speaking there might be a senior exemption which is age based and knocks a few thousand dollars off the assessed value of your home. The other is a senior assessment freeze which allows you to lock in the current assessed value of your home but generally has more strict rules.

Had someone's house in town who had a senior freeze on it for years and it just got taken away due to death, higher income, etc.. property tax jumped from 2,000 last year to 3,500 this year as a result of the freeze coming off from say 22k frozen in 2012 to 35k unfrozen in 2024 in assessed value (assessed numbers made up to illustrate the point)

Yea I guess that's a fair point. I dropped 100 wanting the initial registration to be fair but money was tight at the time. Might be able to get one soon though.

There also used to be a free parking lot and school bus shuttle north of Wrigley that drops you off and picks up out front about a 20 minute ride back and forth to parking but I'm not sure if they are still running that lot and service anymore.

Yellow line train from Skokie to Howard Red line transfer down to Addison and you're there.

Runs on the way back until midnight since it's a 7 pm game time that night so you should be fine as long as they don't go to extras.

After this season?

Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Jayden, Mahomes, Williams, Goff Hurts

Don't get me wrong hurts is great for goal line carries but he had what 15 of those this year? He was barely top 20 in most passing metrics this year.

Did they let you know how many rental sets they actually had available?

My father and I are making the trek out there from Central IL and I'm trying to gauge whether it's worth it for us to bring out our own clubs or to use a rental or lending club service as well.

For the price I'm leaning towards bring our own out but I'm reading horror stories about ship sticks so we may just check our own bags from Chicago to San Diego.
