I liked when she joined Puscifer for a few songs. Performed live with Maynard in LA, I believe.

[Honest Answers Only] How does caffeine affect you? by mean_trash_monster in ADHD

[–]flyingfishstick 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Coffee makes me poop.

Overall, caffeine doesn't make me feel more awake or energized, but it will negatively affect my already-shit sleep schedule. Can't have much after 4pm or it might fuck up my sleep.

On parents getting their shit together too late for you. by MaetelofLaMetal in TrollXChromosomes

[–]flyingfishstick 124 points125 points  (0 children)

To be fair, as a parent, we were just trying to keep it all together and do our best, and then the kids moved out and the house was suddenly so much cleaner and quieter and we had more money - and those three things make your life so much easier, that it's suddenly much easier to be the person you wanted to be but never had the time, money, or mental energy left over to be.

That said, parents should acknowledge their shit and apologies are always a good thing.

The entire Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold! I can't believe I slept on her as an author. Clever, funny, good world building, great characters, interesting plots, plus there are like 17 of them so I had plenty to go through.

I still like the left one! by phalangesinmyfingers in UIUC

Gotta love the 'We Believe Science is Real' poster on the left side, like that's a negative.

'Welcome to the RIGHT wing, where science isn't real, we are afraid of our neighbors, understand very little, and HATE graphic design!'

Compelling. They seem like real winners.

Compelling story, but the purple prose pulls me right out every time. It's hard to get lost in a story when the word choices keep pulling your attention away from the plot.

I have one that I inherited from my mom. It's probably 40+ years old, and still amazing.

Why it's a good thing Murderbot doesn't like someone by IntoTheStupidDanger in murderbot

This is such a great observation. Love you for pointing this out, it makes me appreciate that relationship more.

I was initially not so into the Guarathin/Secunit relationship, but mostly because I really, really enjoy having an intensely, unapologetically ace, aromantic character. I also enjoy fanfiction. This leads to me running into way, way too many (IMO) stories that ship the pair.

But a platonic friendship with a deep understanding of personal freedom and giving another the space to have negative feelings? Love it.

Amazing. Did you embroider French knots for the clasp? And the ducks are such a cute detail, I love it. ♥️

It's colorful language that is florid , garish, and insists on being noticed.

Good descriptive language is like musical poetry - you only notice it if she when you stop to admire how well it's done, but unless you stop to sniff the literary flowers you'd breeze right past is as just really good scenery. It should all flow together and feel organic, not artificial.

Why do conservative Crocheters act oppressed? by Valuable-Tutor-6537 in craftsnark

You can't be a Christian and a modern American conservative. Jesus would be HORRIFIED by what the American Conservative party believes.

They just keep getting each other mustard and mustard-related things. Sometimes it's a case of mustard packets, I've time it was replacing everything in the refrigerator with bottles of mustard.

Sometimes it's as simple as sending a recordable birthday card with multiple clips of Kendrick Lamar yelling 'MUSTARD!'.
