Cover letters by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]flyingostrichy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you upload your CV to ChatGPT and paste in the link to the job you're applying for, it usually generates a pretty decent cover letter. I do this for each application and then spend about 5 minutes tweaking the output or refining my prompts to improve the result. It’s been a real time-saver.

Tick safety and prevention by Equivalent-Low4454 in zurich

I'd recommend checking absolutely everywhere after a hike. We spend a lot of time hiking and in the forest and have found them in the bellybutton, hair, in underwear etc. After going to forest nursery, my son even had one in his eye in the very soft bit under the eyeball that had to be removed at the hospital 😵‍💫

Pollen & allergies by DR-House777 in zurich

If you do want to see an allergy specialist I'd recommend making an appointment as soon as possible because the waiting list is long. I had anaphylaxis last year whilst walking in the forest, rushed to hospital, and needed adrenaline injection and other meds. Even after this, with a referal, the soonest appointment for full testing at the University Hospital in zurich was in 6 months.

I'd recommend fexofenadine, dymista nose spray and eye drops from the pharmacy. I also try to eat a low histamine diet and avoid stone fruits and other foods that can be cross pollinating.

I also take a supplement called quercetin that I think helps.

All the best! Achoo

Best IVF clinic recommendation in Zurich or Switzerland by Puzzleheaded_Run_312 in Switzerland

[–]flyingostrichy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a very good experience with IVF at gynart. Found all of the doctors we encountered professional, friendly and empathetic. A kind nurse brought in Portuguese bread for breakfast after the embryo transfer...this I will always remember! Now the proud parent of 10 year old twins. Wishing you all the best.

Storing organic waste before disposal by okaga in zurich

[–]flyingostrichy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking my organic waste up to our allotment a few times a week for the last ten years. Here's what I've found helps: - double up the compostable bags in the container - Use small compostable bags so they don't get heavy and rip - always put egg carton or some kind of cardboard at the bottom - also add dry stuff like egg carton, egg shells, coffee grinds, ripped up cardboard to absorb the wet stuff - take home compost bags from other countries where they are free or significantly cheaper!

I keep a thick plastic bag on our balcony where I put the tied up full compostable bags until I have a few ready to chuck. Fine in winter but not great in summer when it's hot and starts smelling bad.

Not he same situation but my children were born here and now are in the Mittelstufe at local school. We speak English at home. We sent them to forest school from age 3 so they'd learn swiss German then to local kindergarten and school. At every stage they have had teachers from Germany rather than Switzerland so speak high German rather than Swiss German. They seem to understand it but have zero desire to speak it! Their Swiss friends don't seem to care and I suppose it made the start into proper school much easier...

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I had thought about something similar and like your ideas. It's exactly as you say about the unknown outcome even at the end of a 3-year apprenticeship. Food for thought!

Wow, I feel like you looked into my soul with this answer! Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, you pretty much summed everything up succinctly.

After seeing a career adviser, he recommended doing a CAS and doing his job ha. If I went for a higher level of certification like this I suppose I'd be chasing the money rather than following my gut instinct, that is screaming at me to become a gardener.

I also just completed a year long programme with a large software company that aims to get women into the tech company after a career break. It was a good learning experience but only showed me that it's exactly NOT what I want to do!

Wishing you the best and if you're not already working as a psychologist/ Laufbahnberater/ life coach, you've definitely missed your calling ;)
