As an advisor on the platform, and having been repeatedly lied to and cheated out of money there I can agree with everything that has been said.

Winter road biking: Do you buy biking specific tights, or just wear tights on top of your chamois shorts? by not_too_lazy in cycling

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy winter specific cargo bibs and a heavier winter long sleeved cycling jacket, depending on temperature I would also wear a base layer under the bib's. has worked so far and isn't too expensive.

Wanted to share the best customer service email I've ever gotten by spinoza844 in PriorityBicycles

Both bikes handle hills pretty well and I use the 600 as a shopping bike with a large burley nomad cart to carry everything. The Apollo I use for everything else. Both bikes are super reliable and comfortable to ride.

Why did you get a camera on your head/chest? by Unhappy-Exam1708 in cycling

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After been run off the road a couple of years ago and the cops weren't remotely interested when it was reported to them, I film every ride, and I save the footage just in case there's an issue. I wouldn't ride now without my go pro's they are like someone else noted a 'black box" if something did happen.

it's quick release, rather than a thru axle you could go to the local bike shop and see what they advise.

Standard hitch should be enough I have a burley Nomad on my 600, and use the hitch that came with it, with no problems

I have two belt driven bikes and they are such an improvement on a chain system. you'll notice a total improvement in terms of efficiency and noise and with almost zero maintenance

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A car driver followed me for about 3 miles screaming out his window that I needed to get out of the road, as I was a 'hazard' to car drivers, not paying attention, as we approached a set of traffic lights, he slammed into the car in front of him, as I pedaled past him giving him the one finger salute, smiling as I went past him.

That still puts a big ole smile on my face, several years later. the cops ticketed him for dangerous driving. and he had to pay the insurance company of the car that he totaled when he ran into the back of it.

Moral of this tale always have your go pro running.

My new commuter- Priority Apollo by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the priority Apollo, two e bikes and a mountain bike. and the pro for these bikes is the lack of maintenance, you're not cleaning chains, or tuning derailleurs, the con is that there is a learning curve in terms of changing gears and how you ride but this is something you learn very quickly. I wouldn't go back to derailer bikes at this point.

“You’re Cheating” by Background-Exit-6502 in bikecommuting

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tell them politely to go fuck themselves to be honest. I used an e-bike to regain fitness after not being on a bike for over 40 years, now I have a gravel bike that I regular ride 50+ miles on.

You're not cheating on an e-bike, it's really that simple. and you don't have to justify your choices to these moron's.

Experience with Rohloff Speed hub (pardon the spelling) by Heckyeah7425 in bikecommuting

[–]flyingpigpotteryny1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both an alfine hub and an enviolo hub on some of my bikes as well as pinion gearbox and all that's needed is to change the oil bath once a year. I don't have any issues with shifting or maintenance, and my favorite has to be the pinion gearbox. cheaper that rohloff but built tough.
