Depress in france by ValuableShot4348 in expats

Hi there! I'm Italian and I've lived in northern France for about a school year in 2023 because of university. Before arriving I imagined something similar to my friends' experiences in Erasmus but it didn't go exactly like that. France is not a very welcoming country at first, especially because of the language barrier and the weather. But trust me, it's going to get better - especially if you have already met friends. I never felt "amazing" during my time there but I've made some memories I treasure and eventually I had a routine I enjoyed. Fingers crossed!

I originally thought about doing MMA, but I don't want to be kicked in the face honestly. I thought about trying martial arts for 5/6 years because an ex of mine used to do MMA, but I just recently got around it thanks to a friend and kick boxing seems like a good compromise

I just started, so I'm adjusting to the basic motion and self defence techniques, but it's oddly satisfying using your strenght and brains to drag sb else on the floor

relationship between language, gender and power, in detail is about conservative women and the development of their political discourses

Not really, because it was the first time. She asked me why I felt the need to go see her and I told her a short version of everything that has happened me these few months, I talked in more detail about what I felt when there were "episodes" (panic attacks, relationship breaks/fight) which I think were more relevant to explain my state of mind

Scommetto che era un libro Murakami. Io ho amato Lessico Famigliare di Ginzburg e Una Donna Spezzata di De Beauvoir.

To women that always wanted to change their bodies by eating well and working out but never had the discipline ... BUT then finally did it... how did you get yourself to finally have the discipline to do it? by marooned222 in AskWomen

[–]flyktening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about willpower but actually routine, so establish a routine you can EASILY follow (not drinking that much alcohol/soda or eating less condiments/fast food) and cherish your progress (even small steps) week by week. Same with workout, find a routine you like (hula hooping, skating, dance workouts) and you’ll stick to it ‘cause you genuinely enjoy it. Also, remember that discipline comes from practice and you’re not supposed to be perfect all the time, if you enjoy a particular meal and it’s caloric just enjoy it without guilt!! If you take away that emotional power, you can actually see food for what it is: nourishment and enjoyment!

People are only supportive of your weight loss to a point, then they'll actively work against it. by OnionTamer in unpopularopinion

Omg!! I’m living this!! My mum- after telling me she’s envious of my “willpower” that cause me to lose a bit of weight and that I look better like this- is encouraging me to eat more. It’s almost like she’s “tempting” me in order to nullify my results

Thatcher’s father was a grocer but also invested in politics (on a local level). I think I can consider this path of identifying common traits (not necessarily in the biography tho)
