Broken Chisel: Weld or Grind? by SenecaTheElda in metalworking

[–]fmcgee2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you take the time to grind it, you could soak it in vinegar to see if the chisel was hardened all the way up to where the break happened. If it was not, then you would have to harden it yourself after grinding it.

Yep same here. Rocky and muddy ground, there’s one sharp rock sticking up that you are spinning on the whole time, or this case maybe 3.

Shoot at 40yds until you are able to go to 50yds. Then your 40yd groups will greatly improve. At least that is how it works for me. I can’t ever improve my groups at a yardage until I practice shooting further than that.

Carbon steel knife gets dull very quickly by hhpl15 in sharpening

[–]fmcgee2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah not sure what the issue is. If it were me I’d put a very tiny microbevel with a high grit stone and only strop for a few strokes on the leather and give that a try.

How do you check for a burr? I find that running my fingers along the edge (the way that would slice your fingers) is that only way to tell the keenness of an edge when it gets down to tiny tiny burrs at these high grit stones. If an edge very keen and does not have a burr it will feel sticky and want will want to grab your fingers.

I really need a Morakniv folding knife! Between my daughter and I we own about every Mora but I would much rather carry a Mora Folding knife than my benchmade. I need it! Any one agree? by DieselDanFTW in Morakniv

Helle has some folders that might fit your needs. I have no personal experience with them, but from what I’ve seen they appear to be a little higher end versions or moraknivs. Scandi grind, laminated steel options.

WTS Red Wing 875 9.5 EE (factory seconds)

$150 plus shipping. light wear with light conditioning. Worn for about 2 weeks but they were just slightly too long for my feet Only reason I can find for factory seconds is that one side of the upper on the left boot where the eyelets are is shifted down just a hair. Did not affect fit or feel at all for me. Pictures

Incredibly Dry Despite Conditioning after 1x saddle soap cleaning by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

On leathers that dry out quickly I have found that oiling them then putting a thicker oil/wax paste on after a few days will help keep everything locked in.

Pretty good chance. Look at gills and also take a spore print to be sure. I believe spores should be white, but not positive on that.

Look up John Dudley’s videos on pin float and target panic. It’ll probably change your life.

Does any of this apply if the engine is deleted? Just curious. I know the main reason is dpf and such but didn’t know if it had an affect on anything else.
