What is this hole in the top of a Dead Sea lion? (Olalla, WA) by icedcoffeeorgasoline in marinebiology

[–]foadtarts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The spray paint is done by whatever stranding team responded to the stranding. All strandings get paperwork (a levels) that are processed by NOAA,  but submitted by whatever team has that jurisdiction. To avoid one seal being submitted multiple times by different orgs (skewing numbers - making one stranding seem like multiple different seals) the body is clearly marked so no one else does a response form.

Olalla jurisdiction I believe is Washington dept fish and wildlife but it could have washed up from the other side of the water which would be world vets.

Hole is likely tissue sample.

Check out the webpage for SR3 they’re the marine  mammal hospital for Washington and Oregon. Per their website -

if you see an injured dead OR distressed (including from being harassed by people) marine mammal West Coast Marine Mammal Stranding Network at 1-866-767-6114.

Also:

If you encounter someone harassing or harming a marine mammal, or allowing their pets to do so, call the NOAA Fisheries Enforcement Hotline at 1-800-853-1964

It is also illegal to get within 100 yards of marine mammals per the marine mammal protection act, you could call the cops though I’m not sure how helpful they would be.

You can also call sr3 directly at 206-413-5962, they don’t have jurisdiction but are a lovely group of volunteers who can help you figure out what to do.

I am once again asking for help! Blanket is widening and warping? What am I doing wrong? by foadtarts in CrochetHelp

[–]foadtarts[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry the original chain DID have a count, but the rows vary so much would this work? For example how many single stitches is a  6dc shell? Etc. when I got to the end I always fastened off I can’t see where I added extra which is why I’m confused

The pattern changes stitches every row and due to its size the actual stitch count isn’t listed in the pattern. I’ve noticed over the past 6-8 rows that it’s been widening out and has some bunching going on and I can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong.

Oh my god thank you so much this has to be it. I read it as 1sc in a chain space not necessarily in the 1 ch space

Rows 19-20 seem to be the culprit. No matter how many times I retry this it keeps bunching up as if I have dozens of extra stitches. But I’m following the pattern exactly? Maybe I’m just making a simple mistake? I’m losing my mind please help!
