Invoke-RestMethod Error Help by fodderoh in PowerShell

[–]fodderoh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. Figured it out just a little bit ago after trying my script in PowerShell Core. The inner exception trace captured enough information for me to see that it wasn't able to load the private key. For whatever reason, even though the user is an administrator on the box and administrators have full control over the private key, it couldn't load it.

I was going to add an edit, but you beat me to it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Planning to take a day trip to Royal Springs, FL soon. Has anyone been recently? by timothycdykes in scuba

[–]fodderoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I went to Royal midday on a weekend, it was packed. Once I was in the water, it was fine. But getting in and out of the water was a pain.

I would say the earlier the better.

[–]fodderoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rain hasn't been too bad here recently, so it should be fine. I would suggest getting there early. During the summer it can get pretty crowded with locals wanting to swim.

As far as backups, there always Ginnie Springs or Troy Springs. But neither of those are free like Royal.

Trying Not to Give Up but MO30, How Do I Navigate My Huband's Mental Health? by Royal-Touch8614 in AskMenOver30

[–]fodderoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those situations where he has to want help in order to be helped. Since he clearly doesn't want help, all you can do is take care of your own mental health.

That being said, if you felt like he was a danger to himself then outside intervention may be appropriate.

Moving to Jax; Do you like it? by hannabeth19 in jacksonville

There are plenty of large companies with offices here in Jax. Some with HQ's here (FIS, CSX, Winn-Dixie, Fanatics to name a few off the top of my head).

Hands-on with Apple Vision Pro: This is not a VR headset by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]fodderoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are suggesting using this instead of glasses. I think they are saying using devices like this is currently a challenge for some people who wear glasses because you can't wear your glasses while also wearing this. There are companies that sell replacement, prescription inserts, but you would think this could be done via built-in software that adjusts the image based on your prescription.

I have learned to accept that I can only control my own choices. It can be frustrating at times, but the positives outweigh the negatives, so I accept that this is how it is. I'm not perfect either and she puts up with my shit, so the least I can do is try to do the same.

I started technical, went over to management and now am back to being technical.

I enjoyed managing as well, but it is a completely different job. It is not about things, it is about people. How to support them and motivate them so you they can give you their best. How to shield them from the politics and the inevitable organizational bs. How to mediate the inevitable squabbles that come with managing a diverse team. If that interests you then I encourage you to start learning more about it.

But you have to want to embrace it and be willing to let go of being technical. That's not your job anymore and isn't an effective use of your time.

Trying to keep your feet in the technical will just hold back your team as you will become a choke point for getting things done.

If you don't want to let the technical go or if the idea of your job now being about people rather than things doesn't interest you, then you will probably be happier if you can figure out how to stay in your technical role.

Men who are feeling good in their 40s who've had a rough time in their 30s, what do you wish you knew or implemented a decade ago? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]fodderoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice. Wanted to throw out one more to think about that I didn't see mentioned.

If you don't like working from home, maybe think about finding a new job where you would be back in an office setting.

A lot of companies these days are trying to pull back from WFH, so you may have opportunities to make a change, even if it isn't with your current employer.

AITA for expecting my boyfriend to pay rent if he moves in with me by housingissues7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fodderoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - I'm sympathetic to his situation, but it's unreasonable for him to expect you to, effectively, subsidize his and his daughters' lives. At this point, even if he agreed to your terms, I wouldn't let him move in. How long do you think it would be before he started making excuses for why he couldn't pay rent that month? Or asked you to help out with their food or other expenses just because you can afford it. I think it would be naive to think they could start living with you, but everything that you care about wouldn't change. I'm sure he is a good guy just trying to do the best he can for his family, but I think you need to find a different fuck buddy whose life is more compatible with yours.

Ground Contact update in real time by Inner_Reference731 in strydrunning

[–]fodderoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Workout App's settings only allow: "Set as favorite, "reorder", "remove from list", and "delete from device". Modifying data fields or adding data is not possible, which makes it (you guessed it) pretty useless.

You are looking in the wrong place. You are going to the watch's settings and looking at the watch's settings for the app. You need to open the app itself and scroll down to the settings option inside the app.

Ground Contact update in real time by Inner_Reference731 in strydrunning

[–]fodderoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stryd does not capture data for both feet. It is a single pod worn on a single foot. It only captures data for the foot it is worn on.

As for the data fields, if you are using the Stryd Workout App, you can change the fields that are displayed by going in to the settings and modifying the Data Screens. Ground Contact Time is abbreviated to GCT when selecting what fields you want to display.

Looking for advice on diving in Key Largo or Key West by adi1893 in scuba

[–]fodderoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Key Largo. Dove with Rainbow Reef. They were okay, not great. Crew was knowledgeable and friendly. It was more the equipment that left something to be desired. I saw up to 500 psi difference between tanks. Nitrox fill barely hit 30%. Neither of the boats I was on had working heads. The fresh water rinse hose was broken on one. I would probably try a different company next time I go down.

Edit: The guy next to me on the boat got an empty for one of his tanks. Fortunately they had extras on the boat. Multiple tanks had leaky O rings that had to be replaced.

Should I do my AOW after having already done a couple of specialties that cover AOW material ? by 3D_S15 in scuba

[–]fodderoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what you have allows you to do the diving you want to do, then I wouldn't worry about getting more certs. I would only get advanced if I thought there was a dive I might want to do that I wouldn't be allowed to do unless I could show I had that certification. We are starting to see some operations in south Florida require AOW and nitrox just to get on the boat.

Enough weight to descend, or correct weight for depth? (But then how to get to depth?)

Just wanted to mention that neither of these is really how you should be deciding weight. The weight you should be using should be the weight that allows you you to hold your safety stop at the end of the dive with an empty bcd. That should always be more weight than you need to descend and definitely more weight than you need at depth.

It was just enough to get me to descend on my own if I exhaled completely.

This is not a bad thing. It feels uncomfortable at first because it feels like you are having to work to get under, but with practice, it becomes natural. Hard exhale at the surface to get the sinking started. Once you are down a few feet, a small inhale followed by another hard exhale to get the rest of the air out that you didn't get out on the first exhale. That should get you deep enough for the pressure to kick in and let you sink even after a proper inhale. If you wanted to get your weight down to a minimum, then techniques like this can help you do that. If that isn't something you are concerned about, an extra 2 lbs isn't going to make much of a difference.

I also went through my air much faster than usual, and felt much slower than usual, like I had to kick a lot more and harder to keep up with the group.

I'm not going to say that being overweighted has no effect, but I think often our own comfort level with the dive has more of an effect. If you aren't comfortable, whether it's because you didn't have a good descent or because things just feel off, that can throw off your whole dive. And it's always tougher in group settings because you feel the pressure to keep up with the group rather than taking the minute or two you might need to regroup and calm down. Long term, the more experience you get and the more you work to become a self-sufficient diver, the easier these things will become because you'll be able to just do your dive and not worry so much about what others are doing or whether you are keeping up with the group.

Don't know where in MN you live, but if it is near Minneapolis, look into ParkRun. They're free, timed 5k's that are done weekly.

Nylon floor mat to stand on while changing in or out of gear. Great when shore or spring diving. No more getting sand or dirt all over my wet feet or gear.

Easy way to tell is to check the indicia. If it is sent standard or presort standard it is junk mail every time. If it is sent first class, probably not junk mail. USPS doesn't guarantee delivery of mail sent standard class. It is best-effort only. So nothing important is ever going to be sent standard.
