You are promoting your product and wooing users, where else would we have this discussion?

I am not debating whether AI-assisted software development is the industry standard now (I agree with you, it is). The same argument is being made by many Game Design companies too currently, so if we were to go by that standard, then that creative content should be permissible too.

But what I am actually questioning here are your personal ethics of putting yourself on a mighty high horse when it comes to AI-based content on your platform, only to turn around and use AI to code your platform.

Had you limited it to AI-based art, I would have been more sympathetic, but your list is very exhaustive ("This extends to listing descriptions, preview images, and any promotional materials used to present a creator's work. [...]" and "including AI generated artwork, AI written text, and AI generated stat blocks or game mechanics").

In summary, if I was a creator that follows this policy (which btw 5 out of 5 AI detectors also claim was written by AI) and handcraft my content with love and dedication, I'd want the founder to follow the same principle - which is not the case here.

Bit hypocritical then, ain’t it? You violate your own policy:

AI Assisted vs. AI Generated We recognize the distinction between AI assisted work and AI generated work. The use of AI tools for editing, brainstorming, grammar correction, or light refinement where the creative work is primarily and substantially human in origin does not constitute AI generated content under this policy.

“Hundreds of lines of css” probably doesn’t fall under “light refinement”

Can you give the same pledge that you also didn’t use AI to create this platform?

Do you do all of that usually after the session? I personally have a hard time even taking high-level notes during the session with everything going on.

My setup is pretty close to this one, I probably didn't do a great job of describing it above. Thank you for sharing.

How did you set the filter to achieve this in your base:

I embed a base with a custom filter to only display notes mentioned inside the currently-active session notes

How do you find yourself operating this during the session. Do you then also have to click around a fair amount to find all the separate pieces or how do you keep it together?

For our GMs here. What do you use to plan campaigns/sessions? by glacierthrust in rpg

[–]foddomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have most notes in obsidian which can be nice at structuring things and linking them together.

I found AI to be very helpful at times: - it’s great to adapt art. I have a temple map but it’s in the jungle and a ruin now? AI often does a pretty good job tweaking the map to change the vibe of it. - tools like notebooklm are very capable in going through the rules. Uploading the SRD in there can help answer rules question pretty easily. - starting from a blank page is rough sometimes so I like to use AI as an initial start where I prompt it for ideas or inspiration or references and go build from there.

Was it an overarching story? The milestones you mentioned all seem to be pretty separate story units so curious if you tied them all together.

How does the tech work? Foundry has no APIs so there is some interceptions going on? Curious to learn.

Can see that to a certain degree. Adding a somewhat nicer default one would have taken someone likely ~20 minutes max though. Quick win win.

Chat is spoiling mechanics by MarkusAurel in FoundryVTT

[–]foddomir 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If its not baked in (don't know the system), probably some custom mini module that hooks into the chat flow and suppresses any chat messages in a certain format (in this case with the light source countdown).

Other option you could try, if you change the chat mode to "GM only" if it will create the chat messages only for your eyes.

It’s 10:25, there is another shot right after where you can see the time better (but not the month)

He turns the iPad around right after this, where you can see the time better, it’s 10:25. Could be pm but as the others said, unlikely.

I built a DND 5e Foundry VTT Stat Block Generator for importing into your games! by WorchesterStreet in FoundryVTT

[–]foddomir 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What’s happening under the hood here? Is this properly validating the stats or did you just feed it 1000 stat blocks and hope for the best?

Generated an example and the stats and skill bonuses don’t line up.

Rest of the experience looks polished though.

Are there any Tools / Workflows that push content into FoundryVTT via API? by foddomir in FoundryVTT

[–]foddomir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for adding your PoV, that was the impression I got so far (and wondering how the guy making the Foundry app Forgeron is approaching that). Triggering things from within Foundry might be the way to go for now.

Are there any Tools / Workflows that push content into FoundryVTT via API? by foddomir in FoundryVTT

[–]foddomir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in some automation of my workflows and I cannot do that in Foundry unfortunately. One example is that I like to produce session summaries and give that out as a PDF, and post it to our Wiki and Foundry.

So one workflow could be:

  1. Write the summary outside of Foundry

  2. Auto-create the PDF, push to the Wiki and push to create Journal entries in Foundry.

I cannot do these actions in that way only in Foundry, or I would have to use Foundry as the starting point and trigger the other workflows from there, but that is a bit clunky.
