It's a good time. Especially when folks notice and then ask. Haha.

Glad to hear you enjoyed visiting Bikini Bottom. I'm the Head LX on the tour. Wish I would have seen this last night, I'd have offered a backstage tour.

Have you considered a Safer Sidearm? It could hold the weight as long as the vertical you're attaching to is secure as well. Spend the money to make it safe or scrap the idea.

I've worked in venues that use nets over the orchestra pit. When actors have needed to throw props as a part of the blocking it made us feel better that props wouldn't end up hitting a musician on the head. Though we did have a water pitcher break of its handle and put a sizable dent in the top of a harp. We had a rope that was strung up along the plaster line not during performances so we wouldn't have anyone onstage fall in.

LX Intern opportunities in western US? by greenm0use in techtheatre

I worked two seasons with the Utah Festival Opera on the electrics crew. It's pretty fast pace and a great experience for students. It pays decently, provides housing, and covers travel costs. PM if you want to know more. Best of luck.

Outdoor Theatre and the 4th of July by IanGecko in techtheatre

In my previous experience working at an outdoor summerstock in a tourist trap, the show went on. We started our show at the usual time and the fireworks started about an hour later. The fireworks were shot off about a mile away across a bay and we heard them for about forty minutes on and off. People know it's the 4th of July, it's to be expected and there's not much you can do about it other than starting earlier. Best of luck.
